The Holidays can be a very difficult time especially if you are not feeling well. I recently had a 46 year old male cousin died who was the picture of health and left behind two children in college. He was the third child that my aunt and uncle had lost one at child birth one at 26 and the one above at 46. You never know what life will bring so you need to enjoy your life. Below my wife and I at the Orange County Winter fest in Costa Mesa CA,
  3. Congratulations I too believe in celebrating small goals. I had my weight loss surgery in 2007 and have "yet" to make it to goal. I would of given up long ago if I did not Celebrate NSV's or short time goals. You would be surprised how many WLS patients think they are failures because they do not reach their weight loss goal. I on the other hand am extremely grateful every day for having my active life back.
  4. I ask for a receipt for petty cash. Then go home and eat them all myself. This reminds me of the so called good old days of eating three apple fritters and feeling sad because there were no fritters left. Now if I choose to eat a fourth of a fritter it takes me twice as long to eat the fourth as it took to eat 3 fritters. Taking the time to enjoy food is a real blessing

    Whats up everyone?!

For me the three times my band was super tight were not very pleasant. My band and I are at our best when it has less Fluid in it. I am very grateful for the tremendous opportunity to live a healthier more active life. I just have to make more good choices than bad.
  6. Fortunately it never to late to restart My restart was in 1/1/13 had gotten back to 250 but currently around 185
  7. Terrific I appreciate my band and the opportunity to live life to its fullness.

    Weight Loss

I have not lost all my excess weight but certainly more than 60% and pretty close to 90% of my excess weight from my highest and a 80% from time of surgery.

Who say's the band doesn't work?

For Me and my wife the band was a logical choice, while our surgeon would of preferred the sleeve which would of worked as well. I am happy with my band and can relate with your experiences. Has it been easy no but life in general is not easy and cleary we have to make choices every day that may be life changing. Even after eight years I still continue to learn and yet I know what I have to do and just have to stick with it. Take care
  14. Congratulation on your weight loss and your pictures, I have a turtle so I know what slow weight loss is and am very happy with my weight loss. I have been able to keep off a significant amount of weight over the past 8 years I have no doubt the way I was heading I would of been over 400lbs by now. Looking forward to one day reaching my goal but if I never do my life is certainly better then it has been in quite awhile Good luck on your upcoming surgery

Type II Diabetes Diet with LapBand?

Forgot to mention that in August I changed to an overly cautious internest who freaked when my previous ac1 taken in January came back at 8.0 after 5 years of AC1 under 6.5. Note to self never have your blood test in January following all those wonderful goodies. He put me back on Metformin glucophage which is ok for me because I lost most of my weight when I was taking metformin because for me metformin is an appetite suppressant. Mean while the The blood work taken the day he put me back on metformin was 5.8. Really is my own fault I know what works for me I just need to step up and do it.

My deepest sorrow for the loss of your spouse. Words cannot express what it means to loose someone close to you. As Liz said there can only be acceptance but do so on your own terms. Having someone to talk to will be helpful. Through all this you need to know that you are loved and respected. Joe

If you look at my ticker it has a turtle for a reason because it reminds me that I am in this journey for the rest of my life. I have gained weight I have lost weight. The point is you have proved to yourself that you can lose weight and you can gain it right back if you allow food to be your coping mechanism. You certainly have had quite a few life changing events in your life but remember your health is important do not let food be your ultimate motivation. Besides you have come to far just to give in. Step up and get back in the fight you and you alone know what will worked for you. Take care because no matter what happens you are worth more than food. Besides your name said a it all "JUSTWATCHYOU" and you are certainly a Bariatric Legend.

    Why hello there, ONE-derland!

May I add my congratulations, I am back in ONE-Derland but the last time was about 6 years ago when my band was to tight and I got really cocky and took everything for granted and after 4 years made it back up to 250. So even though it is possible regain the weight back it is even more possible to get back on track. Now being back in ONE-derland means a whole lot more My Band is a good tool and gentle reminder to make more good decisions then bad ones. Keep up the good work

    September Banders!

My wife and I were banded on September 12, 2007. I have a 4cc band and my wife has a10cc band. Between the two of us we have lost way over 200 lbs while neither of us are at goal the quality of life is huge. for our 35 anniversary last June we went Parasailing we would not have been able to do that 8 years ago.
  25. Good for you My wife and me just had our 8 year band anniversary on 9-12-15. We had the surgery on the same day and even shared the same room and the hospital staff thought it was cute. Together we have kept off over 200 lbs though the journey has not been easy it has been so worth it.
