    Disappearing lapbanders

Not too many of us left just remember that no matter what surgery you had to stay focus on you and stay committed to a change in lifestyle. I always used to eat after 9:00 pm so I started to go to bed around 9 so I would take that temptation away. I also do a lot of walking so I get up around 4:30 am to make it happen. You will need to decide what works best for you.

Happy Fourth Birthday to My Band!

Congratulations on your band b-day. I too appreciate my band and how it has allowed me to change the way I look at what I choose to put in to my body and how it feels good to be active again.

    Disappearing lapbanders

I had my 4 cc ban put in September 2007, the only problem I had with my band was when it was to tight. For me I cannot have more than 1 cc of fluid in my band. I firmly believe that without this tool I would now be over 400 lbs. What ever surgery you choose is not as important as the commitment to a total Change in lifestyle to allow the tool to assist you in your life journey.

    Feeling disheartened

The journey is long and there will be ups and down. I lost weight more quickly but in the long run she went right on pass me and weighs 25 lbs less than me.

Apparently, have not posted since March 2016 when my weight was in the mid 170's. Right about then I stopped posting on this site, Stopped exercising and Stopped watching what I ate between meals and let me see I gained about 45 lbs. My 4 cc lap band has 1cc of fluid cannot tolerate much more than that. My Doctor caught up with me and am know back on track and have lost 10 pounds. Let me see I am watching what I eat, and exercising either walking or resistance band training. Stil a lot to be thankful for I managed to stop the madness for awhile have not come close to my original starting weight of 330 lbs. I am still very thankful for my lap band that I received over 10 years ago.

It has been quite awhile since I have checked in with the group and I thought I would give you an update. On September 7 it will be 9 years since getting the Band. My wife has been having trouble with her band for the last few years and will be having it removed and going to a sleeve sometime with in the next 6 weeks. My band is doing fine I have gained about 15 lbs in the last 3 months and had stop exercising so no wonder I have gained weight. Iwent back to my second Lapband doctor since the one I liked went back to teaching at the university level. He took a look at my band using some kind of X-ray machine and I was able to see how my pouch was extended and he gave me .25 cc's of Fluid. I have been traveling a lot so I am pretty tire but need to get back to looking at this board because it seems I gain weight if I stay away.

I have been traveling a lot for my job and so makes it hard to keep any kind of a regiment in place. I have slacked off on my walking and surprise have been on a stall and even gained a few pounds. Nothing like in the old days when I would lose 50 and gain 60. I am still making more good choices then bad ones but my goal weight seems to elude me. When I get close I seem to go back up a bit. Sorry to hear about the health and relationship issues but like life itself we cannot give up on ourselves. My wife is having some health issues as well. Overall I'll take my present life over the one I had 9 years ago.
  13. My Job requires me to do allot of traveling there fore eating out is what I do. My fellow team members like to at with me one in particular is 6' 4" and eats like a horse and will always ask me what are we eating tonight since he knows that I will never finish what I order so he will eat his dinner and finish mine.

Fit sixty is the new forty five!

I totally agree I turned 61 on your original post date. Though I have not ever reach goal I weigh less today then I did over 30 years ago. I appreciate all that the band journey has thought me and I can keep up with the Grand Children is more than I could ever have hoped for,
  15. Your information you have provided is almost the same as my surgeon provided my wife and I almost 9 years ago. While I have had my ups and downs with the lap band mostly due to my own lack of follow-through. I do consider the lap band as a true life saver.

My Granddaughter and I at the Hilton in Honolulu
  17. I have been through a lot the past 8 1/2 years. Banned in 9/07 at 285 lost 100 lbs by 12/09 then I stopped paying attention and 4 years later I was back to 250 by 1/1/13 I said enough is enough and got back on the band wagon and 3 years later have lost 70 lbs. I too am a late night grazer and what works for me is to get up early and go to bed by 9:00 PM. Still dislike it when my body goes through those long stalls fortunately I continue to make more good choices then bad.

No body knows the struggle loosing and gaining better than me. I remember losing 105 lbs back in 2009 in two years to get down to 180. The weight seem to come off so easy, BUT then I stop and in 4 short years I was back to 250 lbs. I had to take a strong look at my life and I felt like such a failure even at 250 it was still 80 lbs less then my highest weight. In January 2013 I rededicated myself and for the last 3 years and even though I am not terrific at following bandster rules I just seem to make more good choices then bad ones and I have gotten back down to 180. So I do know how frustrating you must feel and how ashamed it can be. Even if it is possible to gain weight it just as possible lose the weight again. I know what you mean about not leaving the board this is truly my support system. during those 4 years of gaining I rarely came back to the board. I do miss many of the bandsters that started with me back in September 2007 So when I am going through that 3 month stall I seem to concentrate on NSV just like I mention in my earlier post.

The scale isn't your only guide...

NSV's are what I live for especially during those months that the scale do not move. I travel a lot so I used to dread taking a middle seat on a plane because at my highest weight of 330 pounds there would be three very anxious people in my row. Now it does not matter any seat will do. Keeping up with the grand children is my greatest joy.

Just a quick update from Sunny California Been traveling a lot so hard to keep up with exercise and eating right. Fortunately I am making more good choices then bad choices. Was up in Northern California the last two weeks caught a cold first one in quite awhile. At my largest I would usually get bronchitis twice a year and it would last up to six t eight weeks. So now a cold is very unusual. After not losing for three months I am back losing again and have managed to sneak back into the 170's which I have not seen for over 30 years. Been quite the adventure these last 8 years.
