My arms you can actually see the veins now and my new found neck. I went from a size 19 neck to a 15 1/2 with probably another inch to go.

when you rather take the stairs because the elevator takes to long.

    Coffee

I used to drink alot of coffee and used it primary as part of my 64 ounces so I have cut back. Not long ago I started using cream or half and half in my coffee so since I no longer drink just black I have curtailed my coffee to no more than a cup in the morning.

    Welcome to ME!

Congratulations and welcome as you began this journey. I was fortunate and both my wife and I had surgery on 9/12/07. While the journey has not been easy it has been very beneficial for my health. I no longer have to take metformin for diabetes, and I no longer have to use a Cpap machine for snoring. I no longer take pain medication for my back and knees. I to want to outlive my parents.
  5. I was glad to go under 300 and just as please to get under 200. It has bee 24 years since I was under 200.

    Stuck at 50 lbs

The body sometimes needs to adjust. In my case I would lose 50 lbs or so and then my body seem to rebel and I would not lose any more weight for a few months and then I would give up and gain the weight back and then more. If you click on my weight loss ticker and see my chart you will notice my weight go up and down over the last 6 months. I believe that my body was sort of testing my commitment, and that I would not starve to death. I have now gone under the 200 lb mark and it seems that I am losing again. Plateaus are never fun and some can last for a considerable length of time. Keep hanging in there.

Why am I soooo cold all the time?

I am always cold due to mainly my weight loss. Fortunately I live in Southern CA but there are days when 60 degrees is very cold. Two weeks ago I was in Idaho Falls Idaho and the temp was 7 degrees and the next day it warmed up to 23 degrees. Needless to say I wanted to wear my heavy jacket indoors. Not having to take diabetic medicine or pain pill for back and knee pains and not having to use a CPAP machine anymore makes being cold a little more tolerable. The main benefit is that I can now have a blanky again to provide comfort.

My hubby has his done tomorrow!!!!

My wife and I were banded on 9/12/07, The staff at the hospital thought it was cute that we would do this together. My wife had wanted to do it a year earlier but I am glad that the timing came together to get it done at the same time. The greatest benefit is that we are both doing well and our health has never been better and providing support for each other. It would of been easy to get discouraged, In our prior attempt to lose weight we would do fine for 3 or 4 months but then gain the weight back and more. With the band even though the weight loss has slowed down it has kept me focus and moving in the right direction.

  10. My only regret is not having the surgery sooner. I have not been under 200 for 24 years. The last six months have been the hardest as we moved from the San Francisco Area to the Long Beach CA area as a result of a job transfer. I have been gaining and losing he same 5 to 10 lbs for the better part of 7 months. Finally I am losing again. As far as my health is concern I no longer take diabetic medicine. I no longer have sleep apnea and no longer need to be on a breathing machine. I have gone from a size 56 pants to 38. I have gone from a size 19 inch neck to a 15 1/2. I no longer have back and knee pain. I find that walking or jogging give me a great deal of pleasure. While the journey has not been easy it sure has been worth it. My biggest advice is to see each day as a new beginning and do not be so hard on your self.
  11. Finally broke the 200 lb barrier. After gaining and losing the same 5 lbs all of a sudden I am losing again. 121 lbs lost since my heaviest.

    how old

I am just a youngster compared to you guys. The lap band is and continues to be one of my better choices in life.
  13. I have the small band and I have about 2.5 cc in mine. Even though I am not losing as fast as I would like I have lost an incredible amount of weight. When I do have plateaus it seems like I can get discouraged and yet even if I am on a plateau I still continue to lose inches. I no longer have diabetic issues, or sleep apnea. I have gone from a bmi of 50 to 32. I have gone from a size 56 waist to a 38 inch waist. Bottom Line just don't just look at weight loss but also at what some fellow bandster call "non scale victory"
  14. I am very thankful for my band. I originally got the band because I wanted to lose weight because of the difficulty that my mom was having. I had developed diabetes, sleep apnea, was always tired, could barely get off the coach. I had developed severe allergy and was wheezing. Just walking up a single flight of stairs was challenging. I no longer take medicine for diabetes, I longer us a machine for the sleep apnea, I no longer snore, I can out-walk my grandchildren.

How many couples have done the band?

My wife and I were both banded on 9/12/07. Between the 2 of us we have lost almost 200 lbs.

does your fill doctor do this??

My doctor also has me do a sit up and then he does a feel and insert the needle then he has me sit up and remove all the liquid and then refill the port and have me overfills and then backs off a little while I drink some water. He then has me drink some more water to make sure it does not come up.
  18. I went from a size 9 to a size 7 1/2.

:scared2: My wife and I also enjoy the Protein style cheesburger and like you take little bites and chew alot which takes a long time but worth the effort.

    Feeling Cold

I am always cold even in Sunny California. I constantly have a blanket close by.
  23. My wife and I were both banded on the same day on 9/12/07 and between the both of us we have lost almost 200 lbs. The nurses at the hospital thought it was cute that we were doing this together. It certainly has not been an easy journey but one that we would both do over again. Best of luck to your wife and her new journey having support at home is key.
