    Unfill same as no band?

Two days ago my Dr unfilled my band I had been to tight for quite awhile. I had a upper GI that showed pouch dilation. I will be going back in for another upper GI toward the end of May. I am feeling much better and really need to be careful about what I am eating and avoid those so call soft comfort food. In any case there is still restriction and since the theory is to release the tightness so that the pouch will go back to its original size I cannot jeopardize the process by going crazy eating everything in site.

    Anyone still out there..????

I was band in September 07 and Two years ago, I hit onderland and then kinda stop paying attention to what I was eating, Stopped exercising and sadly stopped visiting this board, and gained 15 lbs. To get motivated a year and a half ago I I had a fill but the fill was to tight and then had to have the fill removed and continued to gain weight. By January 1, 2011 I weighed in a a mighty 245 lbs. January and February I lost 10 lbs. Went to the DR and received a fill on March 1 and since the fill I lost another 11 lbs. So I have lost a 21 lbs an am trying to stay from those soft comfort foods that cause me to gain weight. I have started to walk which was my main exercise and. It is possible to get back on track. Jack one of the moderators of this board mentioned in one of the responses in the men room in the "Help I lost my Restriction thread" That we have to learn that comfort food is not really comfort food. He also mentioned something that finally made some sense to me and that is "be able to recognize the simple difference between 'hunger' and 'not hunger'." Jack 4-2-11 I am beginning to remember that what made me successful two years ago was that I was only eating only when I was truly hungry and because t was available or I was bored. On the other hand 4 years ago I might of lost 50 lbs but would of gained lbs The best news is that I still do not have to take medicine for diabetes and do not have to use a cpap machine so still many things to be thankful about. Hopefully the following link works http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/121891-help-i-have-lost-my-restriction/ to see the entire post, Though it is in the Mens room and you might not want to be there to long.
  3. Congratulations and keep up the great work. I too am longer diabetic and no longer use a cpap machine.

    I was banded 18 sep 07 down 72lbs

I gain a significant amount of weight around 45 lbs in a year and a half but this January I got back with the program and in March got another fill. So I have lost about 20 lbs since January, Just need to remember to stay way from the comfort foods that will slide down the old band like chocolate and ice cream. Good luck on your new life and your new adventure with the lap band

Are heavy people looked at differently

Along with the thought That fat people are lazy its is amazing how smart I am getting the more weight that I lose. For me this journey has help me to become more confident and not worry how someone looks at me because I am very comfortable in who I am and what I can do.

help I have lost my restriction

Stress has always been hard for me and the way of coping was to eat. With the band I really do not have the option to eat large meals. The problem that I must watch is those comfort foods that will just slide down. Seems to me that I never have a problem eating chocolate or ice cream. Trying to keep an awareness of when we are hungry or do we just want to eat just to eat is very difficult.

    How Visible is Your Port???

I had mine for 3 and 1/2 years and you still can really see it. The scars are still noticeable but then again rarely do I go around with my shirt off.

    2 years since being banded

I was doing real well and then I found out that I did not have to take any medison for diabeties, so as a result i begin to eat alot of ice cream and anything that will go down easy. I stop exercising and I had two bad experiences with being overfilled. Really for the past 18 months I have gain around 45 lbs. Probably the most important reason that I gained weight is I stop accessing this tremendous resource call the the Lap Band Forum. I got a fill on March 1, and started looking at the board again and am now back to watching what i eat and starting to walk a bit more. I feared that the diabeties would come back but it has not so I feel fortunate. I still am pleased with the lap band itself and even through the weight gain it still alot less then it would be of been in the old days where I would lose 50 lbs and gain 60 lbs.

    Any 9/07 bandsters losing slower?

I have been away for awhile and one March 1 went back for a fill and am now starting to lose weight again. I flirted with being under 200 about a year and a half ago but have put on a little over 30 lbs. The good news that before I more than likely would of been back over 300. Just wanted to check in.
  11. Wow been away for awhile. You must be a very strong person who never gives up. QUITE inspiring,
  12. Congratulation on this important milestone. IT took a while for me to get to onderland and it has been over 23 years since I seen onderland.

    just got my approval!!

Congratulations as you begin the path to rest of your life. While the journey will not be easy it will certainly be worth it.
  15. Interesting observation regarding regarding moodiness. While I would tend to offer a quick answer and say yes I have tended to be more aware of my feelings. I would also point out for whatever reason I tend to speak out allot more then before. Where before I would have a tendency to just keep the peace at any cost and not challenge the status quo. While I still choose the battles I want to make an issue about some could say I am moody while I would say I am more aware of what happening around me.
  16. Plateaus can be very discouraging especially if we fall into bad habits. Plateaus can also be the way that a body has to try to encourage us to fall back to the so called good old days, What I find great about the band after 2 1/2 years is that before band I could lose weight but than I would gain the weight back and then an additional 10 lbs. Now if I plateau or even gain 3 to five pounds I do not freak out but go back to the basics and start again. I find it easie not to give up and go back to the old ways of stinking thinking of saying what the use I will always be fat. When I am on a long plateau I usually tend to rely on the NSV especially when they pertain to health issues. At my highest weight of 320+ I had diabetics sleep apnea, back and knee problems, Could barely get off the couch and had a great deal of trouble sleeping and tired all the time. Now no diabetes, no sleep apnea, no knee or back problems, tons of energy, and my grand children can barely keep up with me.
  17. Congratulations on your NSV. After almost having to buy size 58 pants I am down to size 36 pants. A size that I have not seen in 25 years. I have gone from 3X to Medium shirt. A BMI from over 50 to under 30. I have allot to be thankful for.

    Onederland I've made it!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I had struggled to get into onderland as well for almost a year but all of a sudden the weight came off. I had not been under 200 for over 25 years and was beginning to think I would never make it.

    Surgery this weekend

My wife and I both got banded in September 07 one hour apart. The staff at the hospital thought it was cute. It really help when both of us are on the same page. I lost 95 lbs on the band and my wife has lost 85 lbs. Best wishes on your new journey.

    Any Regrets?

My only regret is that I did have the band sooner. My wife and I both had the band in September 07. She was ready a couple of years earlier. I have always been able to loose weight but no matter how much I lost I would always gain the weight back plus an additional 10. I had developed diabetes, sleep apnea and both knees and back pain not to mentioned unable to move around well. I was a size 56 + weight size 3 x shirts. Now no more diabetes, no sleep apnea, no pain in my knees or back, I wear size 36 pants and medium shirts. So I would definitely say the whole adventure has been worth it. Even If I fluctuate or hit a period of time where I do not loose weight the fact that I have not gained more then a few pounds here is amazing.
