1. Sliming is caused by food backing up into your esophagus. Its your body's response to help stuck food slide into your stomach. For me its usually a result of eating too fast and too big.

Over-eating is similar to how we felt before the band. Your lower stomach is still there so we can still fill that part up with lbs of food.

Ok then I'm 99% sure it's the backing up!!!

Just had a scary one! As I hadn't had that before! Sorry if it's TMI but does it feel like you need to be sick and are about to be but aren't?! Was awful!!! But I guess you learn as you go :) being a newbie to this stuff is hard!! Haha. Thankyou :)

  2. I'm just wondering is sliming and generally feeling a bit sick and incredibly full is from being stuck of just over eating?! Just had my second fill and only a month and a bit out so obviously kinda still trying to figure out what's going on when I feel stuff happening!!

So I just wondered if anyone could explain to me the difference of the feelings of over eating and being stuck?! I appreciate everyone is different I'm just a little confused :) thanks!!!

  3. I had my band on July 14th. And I've already failed with what my nutritionist told me. She was a brand new nutritionist (to this hospital) and I met the girl who was having the band a couple of days after me and we were told completely different things as she had the old nutritionist.

I went onto solid but very soft foods in week two as I just knew in myself I'd be fine! And I have been :) I've got stuck once but that was my own fault and forgot and shoved in another mouthful when I was already full. Before I met the nutritionist the main bariatric nurse said they like people to move onto solids at the rate that the person feels comfortable with whether that's fast or flow! And the nutritionist said 4-5 weeks, stuff that!!!! I also find it so hard to stop at this 'comfortably satisfied point' and instead I end up so full I'm uncomfortable. It's hard to get my head around being full after eating so little and I guess that comes in time! But I'm definitely able to be probably a cup and a half-2 which annoys me. I haven't had a fill and I've only lost 6.5lbs since surgery as I gained a pound and a half at one point but I lost it again. I'm just so frustrated and feel like I'm failing and my band is failing. I had and still do have such high hopes for it. I know people lose weight at different rates but I can't help thinking I'm just not doing as well as I should be!! Although I do compare myself to the people who had similar surgery dates to me and who followed their nutritionists plan and are still on Mushies. Sorry for the rant but if anyone has any advice I'd be so great full!!! X

  4. I had my surgery on the 14th so only 6 days in but I had this exact thing too. Really tight in the centre of my chest. And worse when I was eating or had eaten and occasionally when I took a deep breath?

Mines completely easing and my doctor isn't worried about it as he just assured me there's a reason they say it takes two weeks to heel! And that you have to remember you've had your insides played about with and tubes down your throat everything's a bit sore and agitated. But this pain gets better and mines getting less regular and painful each day :) I hope this helps and good luck!!!

  5. Here is the link I buy them off Amazon as it's so much cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002DYIZH6?pc_redir=1404561860&robot_redir=1
But they do have their own website it's Optimum Nutrition Gold whey 100% in a red and black tub. Their decisions and packed full of goodness! X

GRE110... Found these on amazon and trying to decide on a flavor. Do you have a favorite?

I am waiting to get the call of approval, and hopefully starting my pre-op liquid diet soon. Thanks!

Their all pretty good! I've got the double chocolate, chocolate mint, banana and vanilla creme and their all delicious!!! But probably the chocolate and banana are my favourites. I tried the strawberry and wouldn't recommend it! It doesn't taste of a lot which I've found with most strawberry Protein powders!! Ahhh good luck with it! These saved my life before and after op!! X

  6. I may be being ridiculous here but I feel I should ask just to give myself peace of mind and everyone is so wonderful on here it helps so much!

I had surgery Monday and I've already moved onto Mushies as I've literally had no issues at all. All pain is gone apart from obviously a little from the incisions when I bend and get up etc. But other than that I'm literally back to normal. I have no appetite but I'm still looking for good which I'm guessing is normal as I'm off work and bored (I know this is my main down fall I need to work on!!!) but if I do have something it's literally like 3 tea spoon fulls of yogurt or some smoothie or something. I've had one very tiny bowl of mash potato for dinner in the last two days and that's pretty much it!!!! I don't understand why I haven't lost any weight.... I'm not expecting a miracle by any means but I'm eating soooo little I thought id have lost SOMETHING in the last 5 days?! Can the weight be from swelling or anything as my tummy is still pretty swollen!

Just some advice would be lovely thankyou xxxx

  7. Thank you so much everyone for your advice and I'm sooo happy day 4 all gas pains gone!!!! The only pain I have now is obviously a little yummy muscle pain and the actual incisions but their not causing me a problem in the slightest I feel completely back to normal :) the only thing is I've already moved myself onto Mushies and I've not really had a problem with anything? My doc said about 5 days to a week so I guess it's fine :) cant wait to start seeing results!!!! I'd love to know everyone's stats so far for a little encouragement!!!! X

  8. Day 3 now and gas pains have pretty much gone which I literally couldn't be happier about as I was in AGONY the last couple of days. The odd twinge in my shoulder but thats about it really! I did weigh myself today and I've stayed exactly the same... I don't know what I thought I was going to see it's not like i'm going to have lost a stone by day 3 but I thought id see at least something as I have barely any appetite and have just been sipping on smoothies and squash but hey ho! My doc says I can try mushies on day 3 so i'm going to attempt some mash potato and gravy tonight as i'm dying for something savoury!

how is everyone getting on?! x

  9. I had my op on Monday afternoon and I have the worst gas pains in my left shoulder and in my stomach. Any advice at all for these?! I have an ice pack on my shoulder which only eases it a little and I've been taking wind-eaze tablets which really don't seem to be doing a lot!! Any help would be amazing! Thanks!

  10.
Congrats & good luck to both of y'all. I was out patient as well so not much advice on that lol. But like Bandista said, WALK, WALK, & WALK some more. It really does help. I wasn't nervous at all! I guess bc I was so obsessed & ready to get my life back. I will say its not been easy, but everyone is different. Just listen to ur body & doctor. I go tomorrow for my 1st fill & I'm not looking forward to going back on liquids & basically starting over when I finally just starting eating last week. But it'll be ok & I know totally worth it! 2MuchFun, love ur post.
[/QUOT

They've not made me walk much yet, think it's because I'm a bit light headed so they keep putting the oxygen thing up my nose which I hate haha. You weren't nervous? Ah that's they brave! I was absolutely fine until they told my mum she couldn't come any further and I went into the room where they give you the anasthetic and had a little cry to the nurse haha pathetic I know!!! Good luck let us know how it goes!!! X

  11. @ GRE110, I hope your surgery went well. I was nervous all the way up until the anesthesia meds kicked in! All went well with me today! I ended up having a large hernia that the surgeon repaired. I had no idea of its existence and the MD said it will help with my reflux. I am more sore than anything. I have been walking laps in the house today since it is so hot outside. Hope to hear everything went great for you! (Btw my surgeon asked if I stuck with the pre op diet but did not ask how much I had lost).

I'm so glad it well went for you! Oh really?! Good job they found it and fixed it while you were already there so two in one haha. My surgery was at half 5 so I'm an over night patient so I'm still here as it's 6am. They haven't got me walking too much yet but I've been up and down a couple of times. I'm just sore like you say, it's like a horse kicked you in the stomach haha. And I've got that dreaded gas pain in the shoulder every one said about. Was so hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones and didn't get it but never mind!!! Should be leaving by 11 I can't wait! X

  12. Good luck to you! You will do great. Lots of folks here to help you on the band ed side! :-)

Thankyou :) the support on here is amazing! It's so lovely especially as I'm only telling my immediate family it's not something many people are knowledgeable on in every day life so it's so nice to know so many people are willing to help :)

  13. My surgery is tomorrow too. I have lost about 12 pounds on the Sugar Busters pre op diet. Like you, I don't know if that is any good but we are in the same boat! I am a bundle of nerves....trying to not think about it too much today but it is impossible. My surgery will be out patient and we will have an hour ride home. Good luck to you!!

Ahhh good luck to you too!! And well done on the 12lbs it's so tough! I'd love to know how you get on :)

  14. So my surgery is tomorrow and the nerves are really kicking in. I did two weeks pre op diet and managed to lose 11lbs I don't know if that's good or bad but I guess everyone's different.

I'm so excited yet so scared about what's in store tomorrow and forever after!! I feel so prepared yet totally and completely un prepared!!! Any last minute advice on stuff to take to hospital? I am staying over night. And anything I need for when I get home that would help me?! I would really appreciate it thank you! X

  15. Even before I considered any kind of surgery I drank Protein Shakes for breakfast every single morning as I'm not good with good first thing before work! I have tried dozens of them and spent a fortune on all sorts of ones that tasted horrendous! After loads of research and trial and ever I tried Optimum Nutrition Gold and ohhhh my god they taste like they came from McDonald's I'm not even joking. I recommended them to everyone and all my friends and family are now totally hooked! Their really high in Protein and I told my op dietitian about them and she's now ravine about them to her other clients. They come in amazing flavours like Cookies and cream, banana, Cappuccino, chocolate mint and many others! I take them with ice, unsweetened almond milk (so low in cal, lower than any milk) a little vanilla or chocolate flavoured soy milk, flax seeds and wiz it all up in my Breville blend active blend and go machine which is amazing as well might I add! I'm on day 6 of my pre op liquid diet and I've lost 7.5lbs!!!!!! Essay I know but everyone needs to know about these they make the struggle not a struggle!!!! X

  16. I am also a July 14th bander And on day 3 of my pre op diet. Really struggling with getting 5-6 medifast Soups in a day. Only got 2.5 down yesterday. I hope you are having better luck than me!

Ahh good luck!!! I failed miserably tonight and ate a salad with some tuna.... But I'm day 5 and I've lost 6.5lbs which I'm chuffed with! Just keep going it will all be worth it in the end :)

  17. Help.... It's so typical my entire extended family are staying with us and they eat like mad and are such foodies! Also none of them apart from my parents know I'm having the surgery so it's been so hard! Tonight they had a massive sit down BBQ and I ended up having a bowl of salad and tuna and red wine vinegar as I couldn't bare the thought of explaining my situation as they wouldn't even understand me not being able to drop my diet for one evening as I never see then... I now feel horrendous and am so scared I have ruined it?! I'm only 5 days in of two weeks but is salad awful?! I hoped not as it's mostly Water and Tuna is Protein? ! Any answers would be a massive help!!!!

  18. Thanks everyone!!!! Just really want it to all hurry up and be done so that I can get on with it :) day 3 of this crappy diet and I've got all my French family down who are all obsessed with delicious French food it's killing me! I'm soooo hungry! And there's my favourite foods everywhere as I'm not telling them it's an awkward one... Only 11 days to go.... !
