  1. Worried About: Eating smaller portions Not drinking while I am eating Not waking up after surgery Going through all this and not having it work Extra skin after I lose the weight Excited About: Clothes!!!!! I use to be so cute when I was younger and I loved buying clothes. Now I hate buying clothes as I never feel cute in them. Feeling sexy and good about myself Not always feeling like the fatest person in a room Playing soccer again (I played for 13 years and can't wait to find a woman's team to play on)
  2. @@Dolce_xxv, my surgey date is January 6. One of the biggest things I am working on right now is not drinking while I am eating. This is such a hard habit for me to break!!!!! That and chewing my food till it is liquid. I am an inhaler when I eat (gee, part of what got me to needing this surgery). A couple really bad habits for me to break, sigh, I hope I can do it. Wait, I KNOW I CAN do it. I can, I can, I can.
  3. I just had my pre-op tests and appointments....this is getting super real now! I am so excited. I have to do one week of liquid diet which will start on December 30. So, no big New Year's Eve for me but that is all good. There will be plenty more parties in my now extended life time. I am so looking forward to being healthier and way hotter
  4. @@da50bear, where in CA are you? I am in Orange County.
  5. I have my pre-op this Friday, blood test, upper GI and EKG. Then I meet with the surgeon. I will know then when I need to start the diet. I am excited and nervous. 4 weeks from tomorrow!

    January RNY Surgery

We will all the best we can. We will all have hiccups along the way. I too, had thoughts of not waking up. This really scares me more for my kids then it does me. I was reading another thread and they recommended getting your affairs in order, make a will, etc. before you go into surgery. Just in case the worse happens. But it won't....we are all going to have surgery and get healthy and next summer we can show off our new photos!!!

    January RNY Surgery

My surgery date is January 6. I am super excited but I am so worried that I can't make the needed changes for this lifestyle. I have never been able to stick to any other diet so why won't this be different? I think that, then I pick myself up and remind myself that I need to be healthy for myself and my kids and I remind myself that I can do this. So, yes, I am nervous that I will fail as that is all I have done in regards to my weight these past fifteen years but I also know that I have accomplished more than I have failed at in everything else so I CAN DO THIS. I WILL DO THIS!!

    Dying hair?

The reason you can't wear nail Polish is that in recovery the nurses use your nails as an indicator of any heart and circulation issues. Your nails change when you aren't getting enough oxygen. I wouldn't wear any polish.

    Surgery Date-January 8, 2015

I have Blue Shield and once they received everything it took one day to approve me. But the over all process took one and a half weeks from when my surgeon's office submitted till I was approved. The first week they requested more info and as soon as my surgeon's office provided it then it just took the one day.

    The Wait Is Killing Me

I got my approval today!!! Of course my surgeon is completely booked until the new year and the scheduler from the surgeon's office won't call me for 7-10 business days but at least I know I am going to be able to have the surgery! I hope you hear something soon!!!!!!!!

    The Wait Is Killing Me

I completely understand where you are at. I completed all the hoops on Oct. 30. I submitted everything to my sugreon's office and the insurance coordinator told me she needed to get a letter of medical necessity and then she could submit. I asked her to let me know once they had submitted. A week later, I hadn't heard a thing. So, I sent an email (my insurance coordinator only comunicates via email) and nothing. Then I started calling and leaving voicemails. She finally got back to me and said she submitted to insurance last Friday (1 1/2 weeks after I gave her everything). I called Blue Shield today just to see where it was in the process (I believe they have 5 working days to either approve, deny or ask for more information) and they told me that yesterday they send a letter back to my surgeon requesting additional informaiton. WHAT????? I have already done six months of a supervised diet, gone to every class they told me to go to, got labs, got my pshyic eval. What now? So, I sent an email to my insurance coordinator today and nothing. I am so nervous that they will deny me. I have been told that there is no way they will deny me but I am freaking out and now I will have the whole weekend to be anxious about it. I know it doesn't do me any good but this process has been going on for seven months now, wait, who am I kidding, the last 20 years. I was counting on getting my surgery befor the end of the year and now I am not even sure I will get approved.
