  1. So, I was sleeved on August 15th and she popped in town that Monday before my surgery so the 11th. I typically and right about every 30 days but the last 3 days I have had signs of her visiting when I wipe, but nothing on a pad, and it's earlier than should be. Anyone else experience a change in cycle and flow?

  2. Had my surgery August 15th by Dr. Kole in Troy MI. I went Friday the 22nd for my follow up and was down 11 lbs. I told him I felt great but need to chew something was given the ok for soft things on day 10 so today I am eating watermelon and having no issues. Last night I had some mashed potatoes and no issues!! Liking this so far! Meet with the dietician at Beaumont this Wednesday to get a game plan on changing my eating habits for good!!!

  3. I totally relate!! I was that way, obsessed with getting an actual surgery date. Getting upset that the surgeons office was taking so long for what I thought were simple things! But I am happy to say I am officially on my way, only 48 hrs and hopefully I will be in recovery!! My surgery is Friday morning, my surgeon only procedures in the AM so hopefully this time Friday I will be thru it all. Its hard to be patient when you just want to get onto the new chapter of your life!!

Now I get to obsess over getting my car fixed as I was a victim of the Michigan floods!! Glad I won't need a car next week!

    Good luck with your journey!

  4. This wait is killing me! I initially started this process June 9th by attending a seminar at Beaumont Grosse Pointe. I really liked the Dr. who ran it and called the next day for an appt. apparently lots of others like him too cuz I had to wait a month and 1/2 just to get in for the consultation (Consultation date July 23rd). In the meantime I called another surgeon to meet with him to see if I could get it done quicker as I am putting on a bridal shower September 20th and am standing up in my brothers wedding November 9th, so want to be fully recovered by mid September. I know I do not have to do the supervised diet because I have a BMI over 50. So I met with the 2nd surgeon and he was OK. So went thru the whole process with his office. Was supposed to be scheduled for August 25th for the surgery but his office is not on top of anything! Thanked the Lord I never cancelled the appt. with surgeon #1!! So I have yet to hear from surgeon #2 and the supposed surgery date of July 25th has come and gone, and still no phone call!! So on the 23rd I went to the consultation with surgeon #1. LOVED him!! he actually examined me and said I was a perfect candidate and probably the healthiest patient he would see all day. Left the appt with orders for a gallbladder ultrasound and bloodwork, called and made the appt from the parking lot for the following day (July 24th). Over the weekend I got notification from the Beaumont website saying all my blood results were in and that the ultra sound looked good. So in my opinion they should have all my paperwork as I gave them the letter from my PCP and the psch eval was emailed to them before my consultation. When should I expect to hear back from them? Think they will just submit and I will hear once I am approved or denied? I tried to call earlier today but I got voicemail and haven't gotten a call back. Don't want to seem pushy but I have been waiting for 8 weeks now!!

FYI going thru Hawasli & Associates, Dr. Meguid

  5. Welcome! I am pretty much in the same boat as you, about to turn 39 with a BMI of 50/51. I am also a single mother to a child who wants nothing to do with his father, but he has an awesome relationship with my parents and brother. But I am excited and feel as thou my weight and health will kill me before surgery would! At my consultation my surgeon told me I was a great candidate and probably more healthy than any patient he would see that day. Make sure you have a surgeon you are 100% comfortable with and will answer any and all questions you have. Make sure to do lots of research on this website along with other research online. Ask around, you'd be surprised there may be someone in your circle who already had the surgery and can be your "buddy" thru the whole process. I was extremely surprised to find out 2 people I know had it and I had no clue!

As for the foodie in you, you will till be that same person who loves all kids of foods! After a while you will be able to have just about anything, you just have to learn Portion Control.< /p>

Good luck to you and welcome to this wonderful site!!

  6. My struggles with food are why I am the size I am. This is why I decided not to hide my decision to have the surgery from anyone. If I decide to go out to eat with friends they will know why I am eating differently, plus I think it force me to be more accountable for my decisions. I want to succeed at this more than anything! With my family knowing they will be with me every step of the way to make the right choices. When we have luncheons at work the girls I always sit with know I am having it so they will know why I am eating differently. Having the surgery doesn't mean I will NEVER be able to enjoy the foods I love, it will just help me to make the correct choices when it comes to the portion of said foods. I haven't had the surgery yet but I am so freaking excited!! I check my phone constantly throughout the day waiting for that call from the surgeons office with my scheduled date!!
