  1. November 1st for me... that's tomorrow (I'm from Australia) and I can't believe it's here already. Will keep you posted on the results. :whoo::whoo:
  2. Hi Sherrie, I'm being banded on 1 November and plan to work from home from Mon to Wed next week then at the office after that. if I don't feel up to it, I will work at home for the rest of the week then go to the office the week after. Of course if I feel really bad, I will have a few days off first. From what I've read here, it varies. Good luck with your surgery... I hope we are 2 of the lucky ones with no problems!
  3. oops... they're not their.
  4. Some people are downright rude and cruel... just remember it's their own lack of self esteem that gives them the need to put others down. I tend to tell them off but cry later... then I remind myself that their not worth it and that I'm better than they'll ever be!!
  5. I can't believe it's finally come... one more day and I'm going under !! The waiting is the hardest part when you get this close to your date... I'm scared but yet just want it to happen so I know I've come out fine at the other end. I'm so ready to get some of this weight off !! :whoo::whoo:
  6. Mine is 1 November and I'm starting to pack it !! Funny thing I'm so excited as well. Good luck on Monday.
  7. Hi Susannah & others That was one of my main questions on the info session night I went to... what happens when that great feeling you have after losing weight subsides and the old feelings come back. I have lost weight quite a number of times through my life but before I can lose the whole lot my old fears, etc creep back and slowly but surely I go back the other way. I wonder what will happen once I have lost all my weight, will I cope or will the pain I've been hiding behind the food I eat and the fat body come tumbling back to overwhelm me. I feel your pain and I hope the help you are seeking helps you deal with the underlying causes of being overweight in the first place. :kiss
  8. Well I hope I'm as lucky as you citimom... I keep fluctuating between fear, feeling surreal and excitement... now it's just a matter of counting down the next 7 days !! :whoo:
  9. I'm having my surgery next week and I must say this thread is not helping my anxiety!! I know it's good to be prepared but now I want to run the other way... :D:D
  10. 98% of the people I know, thin and overweight, have been supportive of my decision. My sister-in-law, who is much bigger than me, made a passing comment about it being the easy way out... now that peeved me because from what I've read here, it is not an easy way out, people have to work at it etc etc. I will be banded next week, 1 Nov, and I'm terrified... that alone does not make it the easy way out as far as I'm concerned !! Her husband, my brother, wants to do it and I think she's scared that she'll be left behind... I understand her fears but I'm thinking maybe many others, even the supportive ones, may think I am taking the "easy way out". I am doing this for my health and wellbeing and that alone is what is pushing me through my fears (and the support here of course). You have to do what you need to do to save your life and even though friendships are important, unsupportive ones are not. If they are not willing to stand by you, no doubt you will find new ones on your journey.
  11. My op is Thurs 1 Nov and I was planning to be back at work on the Mon. I will work from home though... I work as a PA for a lge IT co and we can work virtually if we need to. Is that too soon?
  12. Well since I started this process about 2 months ago, I ave gained around 3 kilos because I was so anxious I couldn't stop eating. Now that I have a date, I seem to have calmed down foodwise and lost 1 kilo again. My anxiety now is more about coming through the op with no hiccups. Good luck with your journey!
  13. My doc didn't say anything about dieting prior but the dietician told me to cut down the week prior to my surgery which is 1 November. So I have a few more days of normal eating !! :whoo::whoo:
  14. I really can't believe it's going ahead... so surreal... I got my new papers to sign today for the other hospital... hit home that I'm actually doing this thing!! I spoke to a young girl I know who did it 2 years ago and has lost 40 kilos... size 10 now and she said she's never regretted doing it. She said that she didn't start losing until her first fill... so keep that in mind. It's just under 2 weeks away... you know how quickly the days are going by these days, so before you know it, I'll be saying just had my surgery, blah blah blah!! :bounce::bounce: I hope you go well with your Optifast. :hungry: :help:
  15. Hi all, no long wait for me after all... I'm being banded on 1 November... only 2 weeks away !! I'm excited, I'm scared and I'm ready to kiss this fat lady goodbye and let that slim woman out of me !! :clap2::whoo::cool: :kiss2:
  16. I feel like dancing Leeanne but I'm scared I might fall over with fear !! :biggrin1::eek:
  17. I agree Danna, less stress time but still scarey... something I am going to do in the future... but here it is !! Anna confirmed the date today so it's for sure !! :clap2::clap2: Thursday, 1 November... no wonder I couldn't sleep last night !! :faint::faint: Thanks Leeanne, this is a good place to come.
  18. Your fears are all our fears... congratulations and keep us posted after the op. :clap2:
  19. Hi Danna I called Anna yesterday morning and she said she may have a spot at the Sand on 1 November... just waiting on a confirmation. That will work really well for me because I'm about 10 mins away from Wahroonga... easier to get dropped off and picked up. I can't believe it might be so soon... I'm so excited and terrified at the same time!! :whoo: I'll keep you posted.
  20. Congratulations Danna, shame it's so far away. I haven't had my call yet so looks like I'll be waiting even longer. I was told that it wouldn't be long after my meeting with the surgeon... looks like I was misinformed !!! I don't like the idea that it's so close to Christmas.
  21. Good luck for Monday... I'm waiting for my surgery date now. I think it will be the end of November... don't know if I can wait that long !!! :nervous
  22. I feel for you because some people have said that to me as well... "have you thought about exercing, etc" der!!!... I say to them if it were that simple I wouldn't be putting myself under the knife !! I tell them I have lost weight through diet and exercise over and over again but continue to put it back on due to emotional eating. Some people will never understand and they're the ones I no longer talk to about this. Good luck on your journey.
  23. Thanks Carrie.. it's exciting but scarey at the same time.
  24. Hi Carrie, I'm not a veteran but will be banded in the next few weeks. Congrats on the great weight loss. Just curious to know if 170 is your ideal weight and how long you took to lose it.
