1. Time1989-tell us how you have done. How long were you off? Do you work 12 hr shifts? Energy level? Nausea? Back to normal? Thanks for sharing :)

I only took a long weekend. Thursday surgery. Monday work. No infection control. 4/10's. Energy was for crap

4+ weeks post op now. Energy not 100% but adjusting Vitamins

Little nausea. Only taken Zofran 2 times since surgery.

I don't know if there is a normal. Lol

  2. Im curious about my own progress, but also wanted to give others a place to "brag" about their progress. We all lose at our own pace but to know that you're in a range doing well is another level of motivation I could use right now. I've stalled more often then not it seems like.

So I will go first: May 22 surgery; down 28 lbs and 2 of 3 blood pressure meds!!

My surgery was May 23 at well. 234 to 207. Let's keep in touch as we have much to discuss as we learn new things

Congrats on the weight lost. Let's do this

  3. I am on day 3. Looking forward to the first month.

I am 23 days and still lack energy. The Vitamins make me nauseated. Got some B complex with B12 nasal spray. That's all the vitamins I am getting

Went back to work after 4 days, too soon, but can't afford not to work

I can drink Water and tea without problems

No weight lost in a week...ugh. Not exercising yet. Really need to work in that but Houston is hot as hell this time of year

Would live more updates from you as you're a week ahead of me

    Energy needed too !

    Thanks for the encouragement !!

  4. Well I am 23 days post sleeve. No it's not the same. You get a pang to let you know, not one more bite. For me, I miss a lot of foods. Especially bread

You have to remind yourself to eat. And that can be hard. ESP for me as I like to drink all day. Having to stop drinking 30 mins before food is hard. And then once eating is done, waiting another 30 mins seems like forever

Do I regret it, no. The outcome is greater then the food problems. I never once vomited after surgery, a lot do....I am eating everything now and learning quickly what works and what doesn't

My advice, find someone you know (I have two) that have had surgery. They are my "gastric sidekicks" and are just a call or text away

This site is great, however having a honest talk and lectures work best for me

Maybe one day, bread and I will get along

It's easy to get dehydrated so drink drink drink!!!

    Hope this helps!

  5. I hope your surgery goes really well. If you've spent any time at all on this site then you see some themes repeated over and over; drink liquids constantly, walk often, take your meds, follow your recovery directions and just keep trying every day.

I hope my mistakes can help others. I ate too much last night when my written instructions stated 2 Tbsp per meal only, drank my Protein shake too fast this morning when I knew I needed to sip it, didn't try to do anything about Constipation until yesterday when my instructions said I should have a bm every other day and I had only had one since surgery. I paid for my eating and drinking errors with pain and serious gurgling and am not pleased that my new task is to take mirilax and focus on my bum.

I'm stalled for the 3rd day at 238 and my incisions all have itchy and red skin which is a reaction to the prep solution or adhesive. I've been told it will pass and to use cream and take benadryl. I woke up in the night scratching and it is like poison ivy or something. The itching has taken my mind off of my stall!

food doesn't bother me, and I don't get hungry when I smell it and it's almost like a memory of something I used to like. Thank goodness they cut out most of my stomach, especially the bits with the "you're hungry, you must eat" hormone!

I feel smaller and feel like I can see the early results when I look at my legs or stomach or face but it's almost like an optical illusion where they may, or may not, be smaller. I took some pre-surgery photos but no measurements but I wish I had taken some to compare them now. I'm sure I have some pics from my highest weight last March but youd be surprised, or maybe not, at how well I could take a photo hiding behind a kid or something!

After all of this, is it worth it? Yep, I'm keeping my eye on the prize and my goals in front of me. Smaller, healthier me!

We are about the same 19 days post op for me. Same problems especially with the fluids/food rule. Ugh

  6. Wow! Good job! What are some of your staple foods? I feel like I'm losing kinda slow!

Thanks! I would say my staples are Fage Plain Greek Yogurt sweetened with one of my Torani sugar free syrups, Cottage cheese, Premier Protein, Isopure carb drinks, sf popsicles and now that I can eat soft foods, I enjoy Sashimi and Miso soup! I feel I eat more than I should but keep it under 750 calories and track everything in MFP!

    What is MFP?

  7. Down 18.3 including preop.

I ate refried Beans all day today w cheese and Greek yogurt! Yummy!
So much better than Protein shakes.
Doc says he would like 55 grams of Protein. And at least 20 oz Water.
Interested in what other docs want for consumption?[/quote

19 day post op. MD wants 20/30 grams protein for me. Just started puréed/soft foods

Bought Isopure today. powder Dutch chocolate. Each was 50 grams protein add to milk 1% and get 62 grams. Shooting to drink 1/2 (6oz) a day. Actually not a bad drink

  8.
Hello

My name is Sondra I am just starting my journey , looking forward to a new me. The reason why I am here I am looking for new friends I am somewhat a baby. My mind is made up I know I have made a dession that is right for me. When I think about how easy it was getting to 273 lbs.. NOW the journey begins here and now to RID myself of the monster with in which I allowed to become out of control. Friends ARE what I need from this day forward looking to meet new and positive people.

Well, now I'm the newbie. You have 3 weeks on me. May 22nd. Looking for the same. New friends new support and new beginnings

    Houston area.

  9. Question for those of you who have gone through the surgery...how long were you out of work? I work in a correctional facility, and have a desk job, but do have to run sometimes if there is an alarm. Will I need more than a week off?
Thank you!

I had surgery Thursday before Memorial Day and went back Tuesday, after Holiday. Glad I did. Missed 2 days since then r/e Constipation issues

To me, better to save the time for later down the line

  10. I am cleared for soft foods- so I've been doing some deli meat, cheeses, cottage cheese, fruits, lowfat ground pork/beef. How are you guys doing in weight loss? I did really well for the first 10 days after surgery and now I feel like it's going soo slow! I'm probably just being impatient!

Ok. Not sure how this site works. I am 19 days post op. Never had vomiting and trying to work on 60 minute rule for liquids r/e food. Tough!
