  1. I had my sleeve done on Fri Nov 14 and had severe reaction to anesthesia. Vomiting nausea abdominal pain weakness in walking....it was miserable. Even started to question if doing this was the right decision. Then on Sunday morning I woke up and felt a great deal better.....walked around nursing station several times, even washed up and put on my own pjs and got out of hospital gown. Going into surgery I weighed 263 and on Sun I weighed 255 than yesterday I weighed 248......seeing those results and feeling better lets me know this was the right decision. Slowly drinking Protein Shakes but barely eating much of anything feeling full from Protein Drinks and Water. I make have two or three spoonfuls of yogurt ....crazy to me.

  2. I had my surgery with Dr Ballem one month ago. I highly recommend him. Office staff was wonderful. 2 night hospital stay was wonderful. I am a RN and thought everything was great! Even my PCP spoke highly of him and his staff.

his staff seems great and a lot of great reviews on him. 45 more days till my surgery getting excited.

  3. Thank you.....today I expressed my feelings and opened up while my partner sat there in silence....not uttering one word except saying how sorry she is. I am filled with complete sadness because I wanted more than sorry and when I didn't get it I just felt sad. I guess this process will change various aspects of my life including weight loss. Not quite feeling like myself tonight.....just very sad and down and keeping to myself. I am not sure what I am feeling......JUST HURT

  4. My partner of 7 yrs says she supports my decision to have the sleeve surgery yet makes comments about well if you went to the gym and ate smaller meals you could lose weight. My nutritionist says I eat very well but with my PCOS it's hard to loss weight and I struggle. But hearing those comments makes me feel she doesn't get it and makes me feel like I'm a failure for doing this for me. I want this surgery to get back my life and overcome this weight obstacle. I go to my nutrition classes and come home excited about what I learned and went to share it with her but she makes comments how can that be healthy, are you of sure she said that, she can't be right, if you were a eating healthy you wouldn't be overweight......who wants to hear that and everything I eat my partner sees. I don't cheat.

I'm just feeling really down and the support I need on the home front base I am not getting and want to know anyone else dealing with this....

  5. did you buy your Vitamins on sale online? Nutritionist told me to wait until 3 weeks after surgery but I'm ready to order from Bariatric Advantage and the wellness center.

I bought mine from Puritans Pride huge sale. I was told by nutritionist to start taking them now to get into a regimen so it will be apart of my daily routine so when surgery comes I won't think twice about taking them ....every one will be told different things I am sure

  6. I feel great! I was in the hospital for 2 nights, bug have been home on my own since! (I live alone) . Have not taken any pain meds since an hour post op! I would recommend him and his staff, they have been wonderful!!

That is awesome to hear. Ya I have heard great things about him. Do you mind me asking why he kept u two nights is that normal?

I just scheduled my endo and sleep study consults for August so I can schedule those start of Sept. Then just my monthly nutrionist appointments. ...time will fly I'm sure.

Ordered my Vitamins online huge sale so decided let's start taking them now get use to them.

Glad to hear doing well.. ...

  7. Today was my first nutrionist appointment ...got a lot of good info and just purchased a ton of Vitamins online....huge sale so trying to stock up on some stuff while on sale.....reading everything is getting me excited and nervous at same time but I think going these next 5 months to nutrionist is going to have me prepared and educated

  8. Hi all! New poster...just got insurance approval yesterday. Yay!!! Have pre-op appts July 8, and then have to get date for actual surgery. Work issues will make it have to wait until October from what I can tell. Soooo excited. I just started this end of April/early May so that part was relatively fast. I'm older at 52 and excited to be on this new me path. Good luck all!!!

    That's awesome.......

  9. My BMI was 46 before surgery (I have always been the heaviest of all my brothers and sisters... 5 of us). I also have outweighed my husband the majority of our 14 year marriage. It has been emotionally rough pretending that the jolly fat girl everyone sees on the outside struggles to be free. My 6 month pre-op flew by and at 7 weeks post-op my BMI has already dropped by 8 points and hubby outweighs me now. The next few months will go quickly for you too. Best of luck as you begin your journey!

    That is awesome.

  10. I too have to wait due to insurance. My surgery should be in August. Haven't gotten a specific date. I have been preparing myself by drinking two, protein shakes a day and walking a ton. I cannot wait for my surgery. I wish I could have it tomorrow. A little worried about being able to get all the Protein and Water in after my surgery it is hard for me to get 64 ounces of water in now and I haven't even had the surgery yet. Good luck on your journey. I love reading all the posts on here it is very helpful.

I agree it is very helpful reading these posts and knowing there are a lot of others that are going through this or have gone through this. I believe unless you have it is hard to relate to all that we go through. It definitely has been great having this outlet.

  11. Hi capi

I am in the same boat (well a higher bmi) so I know what you are feeling. I have to wait until Dec bc of the insurance. I'm a little frustrated at having to wait 6 -7 months now that I'm ready to get started. But at least that time allows me to get all the pre op stuff done a little at a time.

Ya its frustrating but it allows us to get everything done and also make some small changes daily so when it comes to the big change our mind set is semi prepared. Today went to store and decided to challenge myself to 1 wk prep op diet for Breakfast and lunch to see what it's like sticking to diet. Crazy I know but I also put together a Thinner Me List of things I want to do and things I never would do cuz of my weight get excited thinking of what is to come

Stay in touch w me.....we can be sleeve buddies since we are having ours done around same time

  12. And yes it does feel like forever. I was told w these nutrionist appointments for the next 6 months it allows me to prepare more in stages for my new eating habits and it will give a greater success. So I am happy and thankful to just be able to make this change and know time will fly by and it will be surgery tome before I know it
