1. The girl in the bed beside me when I was done in September was only 20 and the doctor in Brisbane had no hesitation in the world in doing her
2. hang in there......... It is all worth it. I couldn't take the drinks but quite liked that bars. however vowed that I would never have another one after surgery... However I now quite like them and often look forward to having one at breakfast. My favourite is the cappuccino one. I lost 11 kilos in my 3 weeks on optifast.
3. Hi, I couldn't drink those drinks so I used the bars... I just LOVE the cappuccino one.
4. Judy, How often do you get an angel charm??? Sounds exciting
5. I have a very definitive time where my decision was made. I went to the doctor (new doctor that I really feel comfortable with) for my repeat of my blood pressure medication and for the past 20 years every time I get my new 6 months repeat I always think without actually saying "next time I come I will be lighter and my medication will be reduced" However I don't know where it came from but I said to the doctor"If I'm not 20 kilos lighter by the next time I come I'm going to have to do something serious, and his reply was..... Lapbanding is wonderful and I could bring you in a lot of people who have had wonderful success" I weighed 142kilos and was seriously following WW and losing weight. 6 days later I was on a holiday and binging my head off and was 6 kilos heavier..... in the depths bleakness and despair... 4 weeks later I had the surgery. THANK GOD I DID...
6. I follow the weight watchers food plan, ie I count my points and weigh and measure just to make sure that my amounts aren't too much. It is what I know as I have been doing it for 20 years.(Obviously without too much success ) However I have removed all sweets from it now. Only good food.
7. Sheba, Didn't you get a programme to follow for your time after banding...
i had a very regimented programmed to follow.
There would have been no possibility of that happening.
8. Hi, I'm from Mackay Queensland I flew to Brisbane and had my band put in on the 27 September by George Hopkins. It is without the very best present that I have ever given myself
9. I was on optifast programme, I had 3 optifast bars a day and 2 cups of salad. I lost 11 kilograms
10. Breakfast 2 pieces of toast with baked beans Lunch 1 cup of salad which had ham, tomato, lettuce, carrot, capsicum, cucumber, and light mayonnaise 125g canned fruit with a small dob of yoghurt over the top tea 1 cup of fried rice which had vegetables in it.
11. I had a really good day, I didn't feel overfull like past years and got on the scales this morning and I have lost weight sooooo I had a really good Christmas... I am so happy that I had this surgery.
12. Hey Julie, I will be very interested to see how I am going health wise when I go to the doctor for my next set of blood tests. I don't measure protein or anything... I just have approx 1 cup of food per meal. Your loss is awesome.
13. Hi Amy, I had my operation on the 26 September...
14. I absolutely love it that I can't eat like I used to.... I also thought that I would hate it... but I LOVE IT.
15. Me too Amy, I really didn't have any time to think about it... and in a way I'm glad it was like that .... I am also glad that I didn't find this site till after... or I may have changed my mine... but in saying that I am finding that I won't read any of the threads about the negative side of banding because I don't want any of that to stick in my head as this is going to be a total success and I"m not going to have any problems..... and I'm going to lose all my weight.
16. Will be back here on the BB for some inspiration on Tuesday. That is the really curious thing. I got this inspiration from out of no-where immediately I had the surgery.... so you I'm sure will be so inspired to go forth and lose weight it is amazing.. I'm excited for you
17. I was very interested to read on the other thread what people were having to eat each day. What struck me as really interesting was that fact that many people are having protein drinks. The information that I got through my surgeon/dietitian in the "8 golden rules" is that ALL LIQUIDS MUST BE ZERO CALORIE. So that would totally rule out protein drinks. I'm to have three small meals per day. Eat only good solid food. I'm finding it really interesting how different the information that we are given is. I have never been told that I must eat protein first.... that was interesting also.
18. Hi chickie, I had my band done in Brisbane
19. Wow, Only 2 days to go how exciting...... How did you go on opti-fast. I couldn't drink the shakes I had the bars.
20. Gosh Sades, you are doing so well.. :clap2::clap2::clap2: It is a really liberating experience isn't it.
21. Hi, I made a snap decision to have mine done. I booked the appointment over the phone, had 3 weeks from day I made my mind up to day I had it done. Saw the surgeon for my initial visit the day before I had it done.... and I am so glad. I didn't do any reading before hand. Just knew that I had to do something... and I am soooooooooooooo glad I did. Just enjoy it... it is really really worth it.
22. Hi Jacqui, I'm from Mackay in Queensland.
23. Hi Everyone, I had my operation on the 26 September so have had my operation for 9 weeks now. and what a difference 9 weeks makes. I am so happy that I had it done. So far I haven't had any problems and have had 2 fills and when I go back to the doctor on the 20 December I'm thinking I will be getting another 1 ml fill. With the optifast and post op I am down 18 kilos and you really can't be unhappy about that. My doctor said that I could expect to lose 1 kilo per week and I am pretty much on target. Hopefully this is my way of life from now on. Regards Rhonda:)
