I am only new to QLD 12mths up from Vic and don't know alot of people around here, where we are is pretty small and my hubbie works away so I am kept busy with kids etc, but looking forward to regaining my life back after the band, can't wait to have some extra energy and see whats on offer around the area.

Hi Sarsy,

Welcome and good luck on your journey, wher are you getting done? How are you finding the optifast??:)

Hi everyone. I'm on the southside of Brisbane, and my banding surgery is scheduled for May with Blair Bowden.

I am really interested in meeting those who have had or who are about to have banding surgery.

*Sarsy23 -- Optifast can be tough going - but the first few days are the hardest, stick with it though...

I have been on the Dr Mccleods VLCD previously, then my Dr switched to Optifast - and I found Optifast VILE to say the least. Dr Mccleods is a much creamier, smoother, tastier drink, but can be harder to get hold of. It has the same properties as Optifast. The sunnybank surgeons use Dr Mccleods.

Perhaps you could speak to your surgeon/Dr about another VLCD if Optifast is tough going for you?

*** Hope I haven't overstepped the line ***

Hi B,

welcome, no over stepping the line here, honesty is the best policy we are all in this together. I am going in tomorrow so I'll be in touch in a few days when I'm up to it stick to the program and if you fall off remeber as one very wise person once said "Committ yourself everyday to eating healthy and looking after your body" something like that!!! Anyway the moral is that everyday is a new day and if you slip today you have tomorrow.

Im coming up to brisbane in a cpl of weeks to do the theme parks

Any suggestions on where to stay?

Best of luck and good health for your surgery tomorrow Dionne.

*Fee* What sort of accommodation are you looking for? The theme parks (Dreamworld, Movie World, Wet n Wild, White Water World etc) are a fair drive from the Gold Coast itself - will you have a car?

Hi yes i will have a car will be hiring one.....am just looking at something half decent prob around 100 - 150 per night ....wanna be out of the hustle and bustle of it all. How far is Noosa? Im arriving at brisbane.

Just need a 1 bdrm appartment im not taking the kids...going with my sis in law.

Hey Fee :)

Noosa's about three (more prehaps) hours north of the Gold Coast by car. You could go up and stay overnight perhaps?

Brisbane is about an hour - hour 1/2 from the Gold Coast, and about 45min-1hr to the theme parks. (These are very approx times!)

You can get heaps of good, cheap accomm on the gold coast - Wotif.com is a good start. Most of the newer stuff is pretty good - there's heaps of tourists on the Gold Coast so most of the accomm is pretty good - although not all of it is in Surfers (if you want to stay there).

Most people tend to stay on the GC when they come up to go to the theme parks.

I just looked on wotif - and there's one called Bel Air resort, it's in Surfers and reasonably cheap. I think it's cheap because it's quite a new apartment/resort. It looks very impressive from the road!

Good luck! Have a great trip - this is a good time of the year to come up, because it's not too hot :clap2:

hi Fee

I am actually going up to the gold coast on wednesday to spend some time with my dad. We were lucky enuf to find really cheap accomodation in elanora.costing us $70 a night for 4 of us. $40 a night per couple. My dad checked it out and said it is clean and comfortable..I hope!..but nothing luxurious. we found it on ebay of all places through the QLD travel people so maybe have a look whats on there at the moment :)

have a good holiday when u go

Hey Loretta

i looked on ebay but nothing was found ....i have been looking on wotif.com.au and they seem to have some good deals:)....looks like i will be staying at broadbeach.

Does anyone know If Broadbeach is near the theme parks? How long a drive?

Thanks in advance
