    Wanted: September Sleevers!

@@madamro don't do this from now in we were told that we have to stick to liquids for sure for the last week before they want the digestive tract to be as empty as can be. Some surgeons are so strict they have sent patrons back home if they did not stick to the liquids for the last week. So I am only liquid till my date at the 8th. Good luck and all will be fine just don't slip anymore

    Wanted: September Sleevers!

Hi ladies and welcome in the club I am on the liquid for the last 14 days already and after the first 3 days it has become just routine. I did it before and really don't mind. Mind over matter, right and with such a goal ahead of us it really makes it easy. What I struggle with is getting closer to the surgery date but only because I had some trouble with the anesthetic in my last surgeries. But hey we never know . So keep your eyes on the ball and all will be fine.

    Wanted: September Sleevers!

Welcome Brenda and good luck to you too. Time will fly by believe me. I am in liquid for 2 weeks now only one more week to get to surgery.
  13. Hi Gendy and welcome. I got my band in 2004 (10 years now) and had the exact same trouble like Stacielynntate. Horrific acid reflux, food stuck, vomiting all that went in and so on. My surgeon suggested the sleeve but I was only thinking about getting the band out. I had lost 100 pound in the first 5 years but gained back 30 to 40 pound over the last 5 years. So dieting is what I did for the last 5 years to keep is below 40 pounds but I am really ready now to get the sleeve and hope to have the same luck that it works for me without trouble, like acid reflux. Because that actually was my worst nightmare with the band. Not being able to sleep more than 30 minutes before all came up again. So yes I am hopeful and nervous at the same time. Where do you get the revision done?

    September 8 Sleeves Thread

I am on liquids for a while now. Only 10 more days until surgery . Countdown. It gets a bit more nerve wrecking with every day I am getting closer.
  16. Ha Ha Ha Ha ..... my surgery date is on the 8th. I will tell you all about it when I am able to I have to be on liquids for 3 weeks. What I told the waiter/waitress when I left 80 % of the food on the plate was that I have a stomach condition and can not eat like other people. And the ones I felt I wanted to share my story with I did, but it is also just too much to explain at times. So since I too did not feel like telling everyone everywhere I just stuck to that. But over time I learned to just order Entrees or a place to share with my husband, or I ordered a "doggy bag" with my meal and told them I just know I can not eat that much. Because it was ridicules to order a whole meal because over the years that I got skinnier my husband gained too much, since he always finished my plate LOL That was not the idea, right So I have a history of eating in a wired way ever since I go the band . No difference there
  17. @tynodles11 that is what I am afraid of too that my band did a lot of damage over the last 10 years. But hey we won't know until they open me up so.... surprise surprise!! @@aloudwhisper, that is what I feel too, that we have through the band experience with all its glory. The food getting stuck, the vomiting, acid reflux and and and..... only eating 3 bites when everybody around us is thinking : what is wrong with her! " So we are definitely not new to this lifestyle and I am constantly telling myself : it can only get better from here. I am on liquid for about 1.5 weeks now and have 1.5 more to go till surgery day. I don't mind. At least that way I do not need to pay attention to any kind of diet plan. Easy peasy

    Wanted: September Sleevers!

JCP we have to do 3 weeks and I am 1 week in now (had to do this for months at the time before for other reasons) but it is really not that bad. The first 3 or 4 days are a bit of a mind struggle but after that it gets easy and the additional weight-loss is definitely a bonus and a good motivator !!

    Lap-Band to Sleeve

Laurie I came across quite a few posts saying they got the full coverage of their band/sleeve revisions in the states. I really would not give up that easily. Just be a persistent and stay your ground. I am not sure where I had seen all the posts about covered revisions but if you do a Google search or a search on bariatricpal.com gastricsleeve.com I am sure you will find enough materiel to make your case.
  21. Congrats on your band out and sleeve in How long was the surgery? I will have my band out and sleeve done on the 8th of September. I am scared a bit that the scaring is bad too. For how long have you had your band? Well I hope your pain will be gone soon !!! Keep us posted!

    Lap-Band to Sleeve

Hi Laurie Sorry to hear that you have so much trouble. I have my band now for 10 years (2004) and for the last 5 to 6 years it is basically open, since I had horrific GERD and other problems. I now made the decision to get it removed and it was suggested by my original surgeon to revise to a sleeve. Which I first did not want but now decided to go for. I am having a different surgeon since mine retired and I did not want to pay private for the revision ($23,000) I am Canadian as "Cody's mom" above and the revision is here paid by our Canadian healthcare. So I am not much help to you in that regards but your question about the two surgeries in one: There are basically two different positions on this. One is that it is no problem to do the surgery in one procedure, as long as scaring and damage done by the band is not too bad. Which my first surgeon would have done. The other position is to do the band removal in one surgery let a few months go by to heal and get in for the sleeve in a second surgery. The second option is what our hospital where I will go usually stands by but since my surgeon agrees with me that especially for me since I suffer from Lupus the revision done in one surgery would be more suitable for me. I have read many posts and researched on the internet and have found as many if not more positive comments on doing it in one surgery not only from patients but from surgeons as well. So I think it is a matter of opinion and both can be done. If you are healthy and as mentioned before your band did not do too much damage, doing the procedure at once is no problem. As for doing it in Mexico. There are a lot of people on this and other forums who had it done there and most of them are very happy, You just have to do proper research on where to go and make sure when you come back you have a good support system with your family and friends and since your family doctor is so supportive I would not be worried too much, because he always can make sure to monitor you and if you feel something is wrong go to emergency. Try to find posts on here that refer to sleeve in Mexico and you might be able to get in contact with other sleevers from the US who could help to answer some of your concerns and questions. I hope this helps. Keep us posted
