  1. Quick question, I'm embarrassed to ask, but here I go...... I'm seven weeks out and have for no apparent reason broken out in a rash. Uncommon for myself as I've never had them except during chickenpox many years ago. Have any of y'all broken out in rashes/hives? If so, how are y'all treating it? I'm traveling a lot and really don't have the time to visit a doctor at the moment. All the best!

I would take Benadryl and put calamine on the rash itself. Also take a look at what you ate prior to the rash breaking out. Something food related might have caused it.

  2. I too will say that I am glad I did the surgery. The adjustment to my 'new' life is exactly that... An adjustment. Part of my issue is that I have not told anyone about my surgery so focus on entertainment via food is likely not going to change with my group of friends. I am working through he foodie passions and will continue on my path to a new and healthy life. I know I can do this!

Yes I didn't tell anyone either. But they know I'm dieting (as usual right?). I'm a total foodie and love to cook too. I'm adjusting as well. Sometimes it's disappointing when something tastes so good but takes so much "work" to eat it. Or to just have 2-3 bites and not more. But I just need to get used to it right?

  3. I find my hardest times dealing with food is when I am out to dinner with my girlfriends and they are eating delicious food, drinking wine, scarfing up the scrumptious dinner rolls, etc. I order a meal but am lucky to get in 4 bites before I am so full I actually hurt. I always go for the Protein, never eat the bread, and of course don't touch the wine. Boring! I have yet to head to the movies. I know the smell of popcorn will be pure torture for me!

I feel the same way when I eat out. But I'm trying to change my focus with girlfriends by meeting them for a pedicure or at a bookstore instead of for dinner. I'm still struggling with weight loss. Despite my efforts losing more seems to be taking forever!! I also have indigestion still which is frustrating since I had a hiatal hernia fixed and hoped to be done taking meds for it. But overall I am still glad I did it. I get to taste good food and not worry about eating too much of it :-)

  4. Hi all! I was sleeved on 6/18 and have been stalled for 3 weeks. I'm honestly wondering why I did this if I'm not going to lose any more weight. I keep every bite on myfirnessal, work out at least 30 min 5 days a week, use a fitbit to walk more, mostly avoid starchy carbs etc. but nothing seems to break the stall. So frustrated.

  5. me too!! I was sleeved on 6/18/2014 and this is exactly my same story. I am very frustrated too. I guess we just have to keep hoping it will end soon.

I am at the point that I think this is where I am going to stay. I am past two weeks of stalled weight loss and still nothing! Weigh the same every single darn day! Maybe 198 is my set point at that is is for me. No matter how little or much I eat.... Still at 198! Low carb, good Protein, walk over 10,000 steps each day, drinking required water..... Etc etc etc. So depressed and frustrated. Only lost 28 lbs total so far and 6 of that was preop!

  6. Just curious how much people have lost. End of July is coming up soon! I was sleeved June 25, at 245lbs and 4weeks 4days later I'm flown 215lbs. A 30 pound change! I'm Shocked!! Perhaps vacation helped, my doc gave me the ok to swim and first thing I did was book a ticket to the reef house and snorkeled several hours a day.

I've lost 25 pounds. Sleeved on 6/18. I have been stalled for 2 weeks now. I am disappointed because I thought I would have lost more by now. Any suggestions on how to break a stall?

  7. Curious what calorie intake others are having. I was sleeved 6/19 and am running in the 700 - 900 range. I am losing weight but it is slowing down. It was pretty crazy there for awhile around a pound a day.

That's the range I'm in too and I was sleeved on 6/18. My weight has been stalled for almost 2 weeks now. So frustrating!

  8. Hello, I'm June 18. I'm doing pretty well, I think, but I'd sure like to be able to get that 64oz. down. I've tried plain Water, Kool-Aid, Gatorade. Anybody have some suggestions? This is when I miss my carbonated friends. Well, let me just say it, I also miss my alcohol friends. I'd give a lot for....you know....fill in the blank. I'm down 25#. Maybe not the fastest loser out there, but I'm absolutely delighted. Maybe struggling a teeny, tiny bit with humility these days. I'm so doggone proud of myself for having done this! I haven't told anyone but my husband and best friend. They keep secrets. I didn't tell anyone else because no one else needs to know. AND...it's kinda tough to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Good luck, everyone!!!

Have you tried Nature's Twist? The sugar free orangade is awesome. It's in the soda eisle but is caffeine free and non carbonated. I love it!

  9. I had surgery 6/5 and have been at a stall for almost 3 weeks. Eating under 850 cal, getting between 60 and 70 gm of Protein and under 40 carbs. Drinking mid 50 to 60 liquids a day. I am really frustraited. 5 1/2 weeks out and only down 20 lbs. any one else on a stall?

i had surgery on 6/18. I know it's hard not to weigh every day but it's the only way to have sanity about this process.

  10. I didn't make my goal of 219. I gained 1.5 lbs. I had not taken my diuretic for my blood pressure and I had not been drinking enough H20. So.... I'm depressed... I can only blame myself! I am starting to work out tomorrow. I plan to walk 2.2 miles a day and use my resistance band to improve my upper body strength and dust off my ab lounger. I've was in Vegas for the 4th and I ate 1 fried chicken strip and a few bites of macaroni and cheese...I am really angry and feel like I've failed...

You have not failed! It is a long journey. Just keep trying!

  11. I had my sleeve 6/18 and I think the first 6-7 days at home were the hardest. I still don't feel100% I will have a burst if energy in the morning but by 1:00 I'm ready to lay on the sofa. Give urself some kindness and don't exert urself. Even though this is laparoscopic surgery, it is major surgery. My doc said 21 days is the number he wanted for me. So mostly I've been recovering. Trying to get my Protein in. Take care of urself dear and let someone else cook and do the wash, and tie ur shoes. dde09

    I agree! Great advice

  12. I was sleeved on 6/25, on a liquid diet for 7 days and now on puréed until July 21st. I have started to push the envelope towards soft foods because I'm bored with the limited menu of blended items that I can actually stand. My doctor is on vacation, so I have to stay this phase an extra few days until I can see him. My stomach is tolerating everything pretty well but I don't want to cause any damage. Has anyone started the next phase without doctors or nutritionist's ok?

I tried to start early and wound up throwing up in the parking lot of Whole Foods. So I am sticking to the rules! :-)

  13. I'm on soft food phase and find for now that I have to chew until it becomes liquid and then wait at least 5 minutes between bites. This way, I don't get sick. I guess my tummy is shy and will take time to acclamate to its new size. :-)

That is exactly how I eat too. I'm on puréed and am supposed to go to semi solid tomorrow. My eyes want to eat more but luckily my new tummy knows better!

  14. i have 2 days to go to eat soft foods. i honestly can't wait to have a small piece of salmon which is exactly what i'm planning on having for dinner on wednesday! so far i've been able to take in all my Protein, i drink either the black tea flavored Isopure (the only flavor i find palatable) that has the 40g of protein and 1 fage plain greek yogurt that has 20g (split morning and afternoon), or i have the yogurt and 1 myoplex chocolate Protein Shake that has 42g of protein, plus of course, plenty of Water throughout the day. i'm so happy i did this and that i'm doing so well, so far. i'm really happy to hear from all you other june sleevers and how your progress is going as well!

I haven't found any of the Isopure tolerable. They taste and smell like chemicals. Which is too bad because they have so much protein. I haven't tried the myoplex yet. Does it taste chemical?

  15. Not too bad today. The work routine seems to help my energy. Was sleeved on 6/24 and this past weekend it seems I went backwards. Was getting in at least 3 of my New Direction Protein drinks a day plus all the required Water. But this last weekend I was SO FULL every time I tried to drink the shakes that I could barely get in two. Not enough calories or protein. How are you doing today?

I had the same issue over the weekend. I didn't get enough protein or water in. It's hard to stay on schedule on the weekends.

  16. Aaahhhh! Lean cuisine meatloaf and mashed potatoes! Wonderful! I ate half of it and it was great. It's the simple things. HW 247 CW 222 Surgery date 6/4 5'7" (I always wonder how tall y'all are!)

I'm so jealous. I don't go to semi-solid until Wed. I tried to eat some soft fish and scalloped potatoes on Fri and promptly threw them up in the Whole Foods parking lot no less - embarrassing! Although at least I threw up in a bag. So now I got the message and am just eating puréed.
