  1. Texas General isn't on anyone's network BUT they have some kind of deal with Dr Kim. I paid for my surgery out of pocket so the savings really helped. I started with Kim April 4th and had the procedure 6/10. It all happen really fast! The hospital and the staff were all very very nice. I really feel they provided top of the line care. I had an entire team of staff helping me post op and Dr Kim is one hell of a surgeon. I was asking to go for a walk right after waking up in the recovery room. I was in the same boat. I was a self-pay and had mine done at TX General (out of network). Just last night I got a bill from the hospital for $48,000. I almost fainted, then totally freaked out. I called Dr. Kim's office this morning to ask about it, and they told me that I wasn't responsible for the bill, that it would take several more weeks for the bill to be cleared out. Evidently the billing/cost arrangement between TX General and Dr. Kim has to be taken care of manually through the hospital's billing department. Dr. Kim's office told me I would likely receive two or three additional bills from them asking for the payment of the $48,000, but that I should disregard them. I felt much better after the call. Did you experience the same thing?

My insurance and I have been billed a total of $266,000! I've called Cigna and they won't cover anything because the hospital doesn't bill the patients or something?...so I don't know what's happening..

  2. I started with Dr. Kim and switched to Dr. Nicholson. The only reason I switched was because the hospital did the surgery at (Texas General) was not in my network with Cigna. Dr. Kim is a great Dr. and a good guy. I enjoyed meeting him. So what did you think of Texas General? I know it's a relatively new hospital that opened up after a long hiatus. My suregery is July 31st at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano. I've been working on this since January 6th. Glad to finally see it through. Dallas

  3. Surgery was 6/10

    Hw 240

36ibs down and feeling mostly normal. Can't seem to have a normal BM but hoping that'll improve with the blended food. Tracking my weight and movement with fitbit products.

also, I've noticed a stall. Been hovering around 205 for roughly two weeks. Am I just backed up from not having regular BMs or are my expectations of a pound or so every few days too high?

  4. I am one week out and can tell you there are no secrets to make it easier but I can say I was just where you are now and it does get easier everyday just keep doing what you're doing. Walking and sipping I can already see a big difference in how much Fluid I can get in. Well I did get some advice that helped with Water "drink it cold" and that has been working for me. However my walk today was still just a tad bit faster then a snail. Truly it does get better everyday.

Thank you that does make me feel a little better. The Protein Shake today has really helped

  5. Day 3 post op today. All my muscles are very sore and it's taking me about 90 minutes to swallow 8oz of fluids. Getting up and down difficult but I'm able to walk at a snail's pace. Did figure out today sitting in my recliner is more comfortable than lying in bed. Anyone have suggestions for making this easier?

  6. Day 5 of the liquid diet now and the only time I find it tough is when I'm making my daughter her supper. I think I'm lucky as I don't have to cook for the whole family. Hubby works evenings and our 17 year old is always out so I'm not as tempted but I tell ya, I heated up some Zoodles for my daughter and just by habit, I wanted to lick the spoon. I'm sure that wouldn't have done any harm but I'm set in my mind, 100% all the way. Then, of course, hubby comes home and starts eating chips in bed, ahhaha. He is great and supportive because if that did bother me, those chips would have been thrown out the window!! hahah. Anyways, I was down 11.1 pounds this morning, Day 5. Doing good. I even had my husband do my "before" pictures last night. Scary I tell you, from all angles. Can't wait for the "after" and "progress" pictures to come. All the best everyone :)

I can relate my partner Is a sugar hound and started munching on M&M's the I the day lol. Stick with it!! It's worth it. I'm 2nd day post op. Procedure wasn't bad, it's the gas pain that keeps bothering me. But I just keep walking

  7. Last night I had dreams of food.............today is day 12 of the liquid diet! Only two more days til surgery, I can do this!!!

I hope all the rest of you are doing well on the liquid diet. It is very hard but if it was easy to lose weight we would have done it before now, Right??

Me too! Last night I had a dream I ate a whole bucket of fried chicken with a friend from work. I woke up feeling guilty, then remembered it was only a dream. Today is day 6 of my liquid diet and I am unbearable to be around. (just ask my partner) I've found crunching on frozen suga free popsicles really helps and Jello is my new favorite food.< /p>
