jelbel replied to spiffy86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have that card, but I haven't used it yet. I just order soup from a cup and a small salad. -
Did losing weight make you look older?
jelbel replied to BobbieDoll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also worried about this, because a lot of people compliment me for not having wrinkles. I know I have good skin, since I don't have stretch marks on my belly and I have 4 kids. I am 90 lbs. overweight now. Let's see what happens. I'm taking good care of my skin. -

A whole month? Wow! I would do it on the 31st anyway. I have no patience to wait a whole month. And something that takes 5 min.? I hate the way they make us sit in that examination room to wait again. -
Excellent Donna! Of course you can start dating again. You don't have to worry about raising small children... It's all about you! Have fun!

I was good until 20 minutes ago. I did have a golf ball effect in the afternoon when I had a piece of broccoli and it was so heavy on the garlic, that I gulped some water and had forgotten about the band. That hurt a lot,but I chewed on a papaya enzyme pill and it went right down. We just sang happy birthday to my 15 year old son and I had a small piece of a guava biscotti. We had just come from a restaurant and I had a cup of soup and Greek salad. My stomach is bloated. Not good.

It's very normal, that's the last pain you will have.

How much could you eat before your first fill?
jelbel replied to michiganer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to bandster's hell! After the first fill you will eat less. I was eating almost 2 cups before the fill. -
I had the same feeling and I suffer from panic attacks. I was so happy when it was done. I woke up in the recovery room and looked at my belly to see if it was done. It was done! You can do it and don't listen to anybody.

Do you need stitches? I burnt 2 fingers baking for something I have on Thursday. Yours seems to be worse. I guess it was your left hand?

4 weeks out, question about amount of food
jelbel replied to swstacey1977's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was on the 5th of November and my fill was on the 11th of December. I will have another fill on the 10th of January. I can have one cup now, but I sometimes feel like snacking. I have a diet pudding or some peanut butter on a spoon, well 3 spoons. I notice that if I have salad as a meal, even if I put cheese on it, I will be hungry after 3 hours. So,you guys are normal. Don't worry. I am a very slow loser. I have to have patients. -
You guys must think I'm crazy, I'm having a lunch on Thursday at my house and invited my girlfreinds and their kids. I am taking care of the desserts. The reason is ,because everyone brought brownies or cookies for the last lunch I had in the summer and I had to make all the food. So I made a flan, a mango cake, gauva biscotti, and brownies. I will also make a corn souffle, spinach pie, pita bread and hummus. An also the drinks. What can I have from all of this? The spinach pie and someone is bringing vegetables. I just want my 5 year old to have his friends over. My teenagers will probably run away.

I eat all the fruits and vegetables on your list. I also have chicken, roast, turkey, and ground beef/turkey. I have one fill. I also have a protein/fruit shake every morning. I also throw in some flax seed powder in it and splenda. My lunch tofday was a salad with chunks of cheese, satziki sauce(greek yogurt and cucumbers) and Beans with onions, garlic, and green pepper. I cook my food everyday. We're having chicken Soup tonight.

I ordered a vanilla protein shake from Herba Life and an unflavored one, some protein bars too. Let's see how it goes.

looking for some new crystal lite
jelbel replied to andreerichards1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lipton has a white tea one and a green tea too, but most of all I like the Walmart brand, they have vitamins and immunity boost etc. Target has its brand too. -
It's just a pinch, I was scared too. I even got dizzy, which had nothing to do with the fill. The doctor said that I was just nervous and it went away.

Bandster, you just described my body......... I found some pants on sale at Macy's late summer and they fit my hourglass figure perfectly.I know I'm crazy, but I bought a few size L clothing that only cost about $6.00 /$8.00 each and have them in my closet waiting. I only buy off season clothing and keep it for the next season. The only size I'm not sure I'll be wearing is the size for next winter. But if I have size large sweaters and I'm between sizes, it doesn't matter, sweaters can be a little big. right? Man, I have to go to a swimming party with my 5 year old today oops! I just got a phone call it was cancelled due to bad weather. I have one more week to lose weight! It's embarrassing ,because everybody will be looking at each other bodies.

I am 6 wks. post op and had my first fill last week. I take my pill is normally. I put the pill on the tip of my tongue and roll my tongue backwards while I'm swallowing with water and it goes down easy. I use to have the gag reflex even before banded and I remembered this technique and it's working fine. My booklet says that a month post-op we can change from a chewable to a normal pill.
-
Calm down and try to rest, the pain will go away in a few days. Don't think about exercise yet, your body needs to heal and you are probably full of gas too. Two weeks post op is a good time to start.

I called and nagged those secretaries, I also called a representative from BCBS to ask how much they covered etc. If you don't stay on top of it,nobody will.
-
You'll feel even fuller after the first fill. You will be able to eat only 1/2 a cup afterwards. I was having pasta primavera with chicken. I served it on a small bowl and when I was done, I wanted some more chicken, bad move... There is only so much that can fit in your pouch. I had such discomfort and tried the papaya enzyme chewable pill and it made the food go down without throwing up.
-
I have a less BMI than you and Empire BCBS approved me in 20 hrs. I had my surgery on Nov. 5th. My journey had started in July. My doctors took too long to write the letters etc.
