I am soooo excited this morning, I weighed and I lost the 2 lbs I had gained! I am going to stick to the protein shakes for a few more days and hopefully it will help me get past these awful cravings. Thank you everyone for the support! Mia- Sorry to hear about the jury duty. I got lucky last time because when I called, they didn't need me anymore. Hope you day isn't too bad, let us know how it goes. -

I am soooo excited this morning!!! I lost the 2 lbs. I gained, so now I am back at my ticker weight! I'm going to try to hang in there and tough this out for a few more days, so maybe I will get past these cravings and meet my St. Patty's Day goal! -

Thats funny, I used to tell my hubby (pre-band) that I wished junk food was good for us and healthy food was bad for us. I know, wishful thinking! I guess I'm pretty lucky, because I've never really gotten stuck or PB'ed on anything. I wish I couldn't tolerate the junk food too! It would be soooo much easier. -

Glad you could join!! I think part of my problem is due to TOM as well. I always have severe craving that start about 2 day before my TOM. I can usually fight them, but not this time. I've been out of control! I'll probably do it for 3-4 days, depending on how I feel at day 3. You don't have to report what you had, but I like to, it's keeps me accountable. Welcome aboard and good luck! -

You know, I was sooo careful about counting the protein in the beginning and I always came out above the recommended amount. But, my hair still started falling out! Luckily, I have really thick hair and I think it has pretty much stopped falling out, or at least slowed down considerably, thank goodness! I hear ya on the "sweets" issue! I have always been a sweet eater, I would much rather have a brownie and ice cream for a meal, than meat and potatoes, lol. I've been that way for as long as I can remember. It has gotten a lot better since being banded, but I still struggle with it everyday, especially at night. Last time I did this low carb shake challenge, it worked really well for me. I didn't crave for a good long while, so I'm hoping it happens again. Only time will tell! -

I don't really worry about the protein anymore, as far as counting it, normally I have over the recommended amount when I am eating solids. I'm not really worried about it since it's only for a few days. You should definitely do what works best for you. You are certainly welcome to do the no carb challenge however you want to. Welcome aboard!! -

I wouldn't consider myself successful yet, but I am pleased with my weight loss so far. Have you had a fill yet? It's very common to stop losing weight once that swelling goes down, at least until you get a fill. Let's see.......3 tips would be......... 1. Try to keep it low carb. You don't have to do the Atkins Diet or anything, just eat lean Proteins first, then move to a non-starchy vegetable, then if there is room, eat a piece of fruit or something. 2. Definitely do cardio. I don't exercise like I should and have been pretty lucky so far, but I can tell you right now, my luck is starting to run out. Exercise is going to be key for me to continue losing. It would serve you well to get in the habit now. 3. If you do weights, only do them every other day. Your muscles need time to rest. My doctor said that was very important. I wish you the best of luck on your journey! Even though this may be a slower process for us PCOS'ers, it is definitely possible, so don't give up. Good luck to you. Oh, I take Actos Metformin and I am pretty sure has helped with my weight loss. Have you been taking any meds? Oh, and one more thing, I try to keep my calories around 800, sometimes 1000. -

Sorry you are feeling bad, Mia. You sound like me in the food dept. this past weekend. I only gave the brownie & ice cream as an example. I've had something terrible every night for the past 4-5 days. Pop tarts, dip and chips, you name it, I've probably ate it, lol. I'm so sorry about your mother. I think your mother would be very proud of you for the decision you've made to become healthy. Again, sorry you are feeling bad and I hope you feel better soon. Get rested and take care. -

Hi everyone! I am going to do a "detox" for a few days. It's really not a detox per say, but I'm doing this to get past my severe sugar cravings. I am going to have low carb protein shakes and water. So far today I have had one protein shake and 2 bottles of water. I will have one more protein shake for dinner, another bottle of water or two, and possibly a cup of chai tea before I go to bed. -

Last time I did this, I didn't feel any different after just one day. It took a few days to break those cravings for me. Once I broke through those cravings, I was good to go for a long while. I'm hoping I have the same experience this time around. I will probably have some chai tea and decaf coffee while on this as well. -
This recipe was sooooo good! My sister made it for me and now I am hooked. It's a tasty way to get in those veggies! Ingredients: 1 Spaghetti Squash 1-2 tbsp. EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2c. Buitoni pesto with basil 1/2c. shredded parmesan cheese Cut the squash in half, lengthwise, and scoop out the seeds. Brush squash with EVOO and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place the 2 pieces of squash, face down, on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until skin is soft. After it completely cools, take a fork and rake the inside away from the skin into a casserole dish. You can either mix in the pesto or layer the pesto over the squash. Then sprinkle cheese evenly over the top. Place the casserole in oven and cook until cheese melts. I think it will make about 8 servings I entered the recipe at thedailyplate.com and here is the nutritional info: Serving Size- 1/8 of the recipe Calories- 132 Fat- 10.53 Carbs- 6 Protein- 4

Spaghetti Squash Pesto Casserole
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know what you mean! I am lovin the spaghetti squash! You should try my other spaghetti squash recipe, the Baked Spaghetti Fake Out! It is sooo good and it taste like real spaghetti. I don't miss the noodles at all when I make this. If you make it, make sure you cook the spaghetti squash long enough so it is soft, like noodles. Glad you like the recipe!! -
Guys, I didn't have a very good week last week . I've actually gained a couple of pounds, so I'm going to do a "detox" for a few days. I'm only going to have low carb Protein Shakes and Water (maybe some chai tea or decaf coffee too). I'm hoping it will help with my cravings like it did last time I did this. Sorry to be a downer, but I'm still not giving up!! We still have time to make our goals. Keep up the great work everyone!! Let's make these goals!!

Glad you are joining us, Susan!! My husband said the same thing this morning when I told him, lol! Oh well, we gotta do something to get back on track. Glad to hear you're not throwing up. Phenergan definitely makes you sleepy, so hopefully you will feel better by the time DH gets home. If not, take the Phenergan and get some rest. Feel better soon! -
Oh, I use the non-stick foil all the time. I always cover my pans, it helps the food not stick and it makes easy clean up...........I love that stuff!!

Hey Renewed! I'm glad I have a buddy to do this with. I haven't been doing very well this past week. It's my TOM and I have been having the worst cravings. I'm usually pretty good at handling them, but this one has got me. I've gained a couple of pounds since last week and I'm sick of feeling crappy. So, I'm glad you're joining me. Sorry you are sick and hope you feel better soon. Have you been throwing up? That is my worst fear, that I'll get sick and throw up too much and mess up my band. I still have some Phenergan suppositories from when I had my surgery, so I guess I could use those if I had to. Hope you get well soon! -
Spaghetti Squash Pesto Casserole
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your welcome! I'm so glad you liked it! I love Pesto and believe it or not, I just had it for the first time a few months ago, now I can't eat enough of it. I do have to be careful with how much I use because it is a little high in calories, but I love the flavor it adds. Great, let me know how you like it! -
Yes, it reheated well for me. I have these tiny containers that I use to store food in and I usually put about 1/2c. in each container and refrigerate. I guess it could be frozen too, I haven't froze it yet, but I don't see why it couldn't be.
-
Travelgirl, you might could try using less spaghetti sauce. The first time I made it, it was less soupy. I added more sauce the next time because my hubby loves lots of sauce. I personally prefered it less soupy, but I like it either way. DH tends to be very picky, so I was just excited he actually liked something new, lol. Oh, another tip.......last time I made spaghetti squash I sprayed each half, lightly, with nonstick cooking spray (butter flavored) instead of the EVOO and it turned out just as good and has almost no calories. I'm always trying to find ways to cut the calories, lol.

How often do you vomit/PB?
georgia girl replied to mandi78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I been banded for almost 6 months and I have never vomitted or PB'ed. I think I am at my sweet spot, even though it has loosened a little bit. I consider myself lucky and I hope it stays that way.
