    Hi all,
I'm approaching five weeks out and I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced yoyo numbers on the scale so early out. I've been the same weight given 2-4 lbs for about two weeks.
I'm taking in about 48g of Protein on good days and generally eat between 700 to 1000 cals a day. I'm planning to call my NUT tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
    Thanks!

How do you people eat only 500-700 a day? I am hungry ALL the time and probably average 900-1200 a day. I feel this surgery was a waste of time, as I'm not losing much and it hasn't helped at all with hunger. And no, it's not "head" hunger. I know the difference.

Anyone have this problem. I get full eating but after an hour or so, my stomach growls and I feel hungry. I don't eat but I was sleeved on 12/11 and have had no issues this now. I know it is not head hunger because I can ignore that, but it feels like hunger physically, like I have a hole in my stomach and it is never satisfied.

So..I am six weeks out from my post-op surgery, and felt it was time to join a chat room on the subject. Here is my story:
I am a 46 years old male and have pretty much struggled with my weight my whole life. I've had periods of my life where I have been "thin": when I turned 15 I went through a growth spurt and became what I would describe as "tall and skinny." Freshman year of college I began to gain weight...and it never really stopped. About 18 years ago I weighed 227 (I am 6'0'') I joined Jenny Craig and got down to the size I was in high school..175lbs. This was a happy time in my life..a real confidence builder. This lasted around 3 years...and then the up and down that so many of us go through started. I remember at one point I got to 260lbs and I was in total shock. I used Jenny Craig numerous times over the years as a crutch. Sometimes it worked..sometimes not. In 2008 I ballooned to 300lbs..went back to Jenny Craig and also started working out at the gym in earnest..I lost around 60lbs in one year..and then I stopped. And that leads me to 2014.
I began to have extreme stomach issues, breathing problems, sleeping issues, and coordination problems. I was 340lbs and miserable. Medically, I had high blood pressure, high cholesteral and developed an ulcer and acid reflex. I also developed a hernia..in my belly button (umbilical). My doctor referred me to a surgeon..at a bariatric center. This, of course, confused me. Dr. Lutfi examined me and said he could do the hernia repair..but I would need to lose at least 60lbs..otherwise the surgery would not be successful. He then began to talk to me about different types of bariatric surgeries and asked me if I had ever considered it. I became angry..enraged. I didn't express this anger verbally..but it showed on my face. I told him I would lose the weight on my own..thank you very much..and let him know when that happened. And I pretty much stormed out of his office. The next day I went to Jenny Craig..got my food..set my mind on losing the weight..and it just..didn't happen. So, I began to research the surgery..and Dr. Lutfi. It was probably the longest and most difficult decision I have ever had to make..but I ultimately decided to do this. I didn't tell many people..kept it to myself.
My surgery was scheduled for Christmas Eve. I was still so unsure of this..even when I got the approval from my insurance company. Then, the day before my two week pre-surgery liquid diet, I attended my first support group. 30 people..all but one had the sleeve done. As it turns out two of the men were my exact age..and had been my size. It changed my whole perspective. Hearing their stories..I related so much. And to see how healthy and happy they all were was..everything.
On December 11 I weighed myself: 343lbs. I then started the liquid diet. On the very early morning of December 24 I was at the hospital weighing in. 323lbs! Very encouraging. And now..here I am 6 weeks out..53lbs lighter then I was December 11. And it has already changed my life. Clothes I haven't worn in almost 8 years. Buying new jeans a waist size down. No more snoring, improved mobility, no more breathing issues. I am happier than I have been in decades! I have a long road..about 80 more pounds (at least) to go..but I know I will get there!
Thanks for reading this! Excited to be a part of the group...

Dec 18th Sleever here. Down 21 pounds and in a stall for almost 4 weeks which is making me a lil crazy. Feel so much better and relatively no pain or issues. Still getting used to my limits and new stomach. But I'm trying not to over~stress about it. My regular Dr says to chill out and let the surgery do its job.
    Good luck to you all!

@lljenkins. I just read your post about feeling discouraged and saw the responses. I was sleeved 12/9 and felt / feel exactly the same I think that is a natural part of the process. I'm approaching 3 weeks and down 20 lbs so I'm feeling a bit better. But originally I had not lost anything the first week and a half and felt the same way you did - we just made this drastic change (and are still dealing with that emotionally) and are not seeing results. After the first week and a half i drastically lost 10lbs around the week and a half mark. Then 7 more pounds followed pretty quickly and just today another 4. I think the attitude that the others have comes with time and seeing the results and soon we will start seeing things that way. I'm starting to trust in the process and know that if I follow the rules it will all work out. I am addicted to my scale which is a terrible thing. I may need to,ask someone to hide it until I can break the habit!!
Hang in there you are not alone!!
Ann/ other veterans while we appreciate your candor and tough love --Please remember we are new to this process, not even in a month yet and are trying to learn how to live our new life and deal with all the emotions and new feelings that come along with the surgery. Often we see others results and feel like we may be doing something wrong or even worse, start to question our decision. We will learn in time. Please be patient. That's why we come to these forums for the advice and support of those of you who have been in our shoes.

I'm having the same issue! Was sleeved on 12/9 and had my first throw up incident. I find the only way I can control the way I eat is if I take a bite then get up and do something in between bites. I know that's totally against what the "proper" eating rules are.

I don't have issues w gulping liquids but to answer your question .... When I've eaten too much/too fast/too big bites it feels a little uncomfortable right between my chest bone and just under that. I usually rub that area and like the person said before. Take long slow breaths and walk around.
Last night, for the first time it was a whole new level. I Basically had to burp and then threw up a little.. Gross I know but we are all about honesty here...., that felt better so when it happened the second time a few min later I didn't fight it. I just let it come back up. I don't plan on letting any of that happen again any time soon!!!! It was so uncomfortable, thankfully I was home!

    About the stall...
Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

I'm a little a month and I'm actually getting depressed, discouraged and flat out regretting getting the surgery. I have lost 16lb since my surgery and that happened in the first 2 weeks, I went for my 2 week check up and I was 321.5. I got on the scale this week and I had GAINED 1.7lbs!! Now I haven't done things to the "T" but it's no where near to me gaining weight(mainly not able to get all my Protein I get close). I log my food and I know I get less than 500 calories a day. So what the heck??!! I have been bloated and constipated and that makes me angry. I just don't know. I know this is a tool but I feel like it's not working for me right now. I started working out but had to hold off till my open wound was healed. So now I can't eat much at all, can't do Protein shakes cause it makes my nauseated so I'm eating meat cheese and eggs and can't take a crap!! I'm so annoyed pissed off depressed and I really want to eat something really bad but can't cause I wont go down so yeah I got problems right now!!

@@JustJaime5 I'm experiencing that now I eat stop before I'm stuffed then hours later I'm hungry. Talked to my dietitian and she said it's the small amount of food that I'm eating once I'm able to eat a full meal that will stop. So hopefully that will work for you too

I haven't been able to stop watching food network and I would consider trading my own mother for a piece of pizza right now. Lol. No I'm serious. ????. It doesn't help that I'm hungry almost all the time. I eat and I'm full so fast. I feel like I go from full to starving and there is nothing in between. Clearly I need to figure out a better eating schedule.

Hi all. My surgery was Dec 9 and I have "only" lost around 30 lbs. I say only bc I know a whole bunch of folks r probably going to jump on my back saying you couldn't do that pre op etc etc.
I started out at 318 day of surgery. I had an issue w an incision so I was really limited in my motion for the last month. So 30 lbs according to my dr was what he considers average for the first month. He said about 10% of starting weight is what he likes to see.
He just gave me clearance today to start working out so I'm hoping that I can get some more off.
