Hi all. Just got sleeved dec 9 w dr abkin. I'm definitely in a little more pain than I expected. Mostly the left side like they tell you about. I still take the pain killers about 4 times a day and I'm sleeping in a recliner. I thought the gas was working its way out but tonight I'm def having some issues. I keep trying to take small sips but stomach definitely rebelling some. Anyone who has been sleeved- can u tell me how long this phase lasts? I'm on clear liquids but could not even imagine stomaching jello right now let alone yogurt on Friday per my schedule.

What happened?!? How are u doing now? I understand it's normal to have a moment of - oh god what did I do ... But I've heard it passes. My surgery is tomorrow. Hope you are feeling better now

@sleeve30. My surgery is next Tuesday. I'm excited/nervous/anxious all at the same time. Lol. ???????? How many hours were you in the FP surgery center? Congrats on your success so far, that's so exciting! (And inspiring)

Hi all. I'm scheduled for sx dec 9. I'm located in Essex county. Would love some mentors as well as buddies. I'm starting to get a little anxious about what to expect after the surgery. I've read all the research, watched at least 100'videos on YouTube but still feel like I don't know what to expect. Am I going to be able to get enough protein in. Water? What happens if I feel full? They say don't push but they also say make sure you get all your water and protein in. All these thoughts keep running through my head. (Plus others)

Hi all. I'm in nj. My surgery is dec 9. After almost 7 months I'm starting to get a little anxious. Not about having the procedure but about the unknown afterwards.

As part of the process I did have to go through a psych eval. I also have to do monthly weight-loss classes for six months. I had to go for an endoscopy as well. I started the whole process in May 2014 with my first consultation with the doctor. So it was an almost 8 month process for me bc of the insurance requirements.

Hi. I'm 37 from north jersey. I'm pre op so I'm in somewhat the same boat. Only recommendation is to go..do it... I waited until I was 100% mentally ready and it turns out my ins co requires 6 months of weight loss classes. I wish I had stated the process while I was still figuring out everything. You can always Change procedure type or back out if you don't feel prepared. But at least the clock starts. I was totally ready May 2014 and I'm not scheduled until dec 9.

@capiccirillo. How is it going? I'm going for last weight loss class tomorrow. Pre op next tues and surgery is set for Dec 9.

Hi all... Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Tomorrow is my last weight loss class! Pre op is scheduled for next Tuesday and then surgery Dec 9. Any recommendations son the Protein powders you use.

@@sleeve30 that's fantastic!!! So happy to hear! My surgery date is getting closer. I finished endoscopy now just nut consult then dec 9. Are you back on regular foods now? Or still soft puréed?

Hi all. Just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing? Everyone feeling ok? Progressing well? Any regrets?

Are you so excited?! I am and my sx is months away. I'm a little nervous. The first visit I had lost 5 lbs but between visits. Then I went on vaca and gained a few pounds then I gained like 7 lbs since last month. I sprained my ankle and have not worked out and have been eating so badly. I'm afraid when I go tues for the weight loss class I'm going to be in trouble. Did you gain any weight during your wait time? They haven't told me I "can't". I'm so afraid the insurance will see that and either push sx back or deny. After jumping through these hoops I'm so concerned.

Good luck dee! I share your frustration. My sx is scheduled for dec. still jumping through the ins hoops!

Hi all. It's been a while since I've been on and I wanted to check to see how everyone is doing? I'm still on the road to surgery. It's scheduled for Dec so I am just finishing the required appointments. Psych eval is done. Nut counseling next month and then the endoscopy then I should be all set. One question for you all. Did you have the procedure at the florham park office or out of morristown memorial Hosp? How long was your stay? Hope you all are doing well!

Hi capi I am in the same boat (well a higher bmi) so I know what you are feeling. I have to wait until Dec bc of the insurance. I'm a little frustrated at having to wait 6 -7 months now that I'm ready to get started. But at least that time allows me to get all the pre op stuff done a little at a time.

I went through the exact same thing with my parents. Dad just wants me to be happy and healthy again. My mom who is the one who is always on my case about my weight is totally opposed. If she can't be supportive I wish she would not say anything at all. It's so frustrating.

Hey Lindsay. How are you adjusting 3 mos out? Is it what you expected/ prepared for? How much lost so far? With the sleeve were you in and out same day in the surgical center or were you in hospital overnight ?

Hi Ladies .. i am with Dr. Abkin as well. I had my first visit May 22 and found out that United HealthCare requires 6 months of weight loss classes. I have been researching for so long that was the one one thing I didnt stop to check. Now that I finally got myself mentally ready and assumed I would have the traditional 3 month wait from door to surgery, I am a little frustrated and disappointed My current surgery date is Dec 9. I would love to keep this thread going to see how everyone is doing? sleeve30 how are you feeling? lindsayloo1103 awesome job!!!!! LaJodster would like to see how your progress is going as well!
