  1. Welcome to the journy. The wait is differant , some are a month or 3 mnths. My program requires 6 months. I like it as it helps to prepare for surgery and what comes after. This is a great site and if you read the threads you can learn a lot of what to do. More importantly you can learn what not to do. The time goes fast, I should be gettiny my RNY in the beginning of Oct. Good luck on your start to better health

  2. Something showed up on my EKG so I had to see a cardiologist yesterday. After another EKG the Dr. Told me there were 3small problems with my heart that will not stop my RNY surgery but change the risk factor from low to intermidiate. They also bumped my pre op to 9/30. They also want an echocardiogram now. I never had any heart problems and had EKGs before several other surgeries so I'm not worried and just want to have the RNY so i can get on with my life. I'm really looking forward to not having to take insulin and meds for hbp and cholesteral. Now the soonest I can have the surgery will be the middle of Oct. Good luck to everyone else. Hope all goes well for you

  3. My surgeon explained a lot, i researched much on my own. I have the 6 month pre op plan that ins requires and I was still not 100% sure until i joined here and started reading about everyones expieriences. Thanks to you all. I have my last hoop tomorrow (surgery class) hoping for my date soon

  4. I had the same problem. I switched to child utensils to help take smaller bites. I use timer apps on my phone (bariatric timer helps me alot) the drinking while eating was tough for me but again the timers helped. I also believe the 6 month program helped get me prepared. My last visit is tommorrow (surgical class) everything else is done and green lighted. Hope to get my date soon.

  5. That's good news, now you know what you need to do. I have acalasia , some muscle in my esophagus go the wrong way and the valve has hardened. My surgeon is going to both procedures when he does the RNY. Six months sounds long but it goes pretty fast. My last visit is next thurs. Then I hope to get my date. Good luck with your journy.
