  1. Yes, I counted down and had a food funeral with my favorites before my pre-op. Looking back, I find it hard to understand that control food had over me but I guess it was not a surprise I felt that way. But the great news is, food is only fuel to me now. That monkey is off my back forever. Best wishes to you.
  2. I will tell you that 1) sweets were my biggest weakness and my go-to binge food pre-surgery. 2) A bite of cake now makes me throw up my toenails. (I learned the hard way). For me, they could try to force feed it to me and I could turn it down with no issues. Problem solved for me. If I were you, I would not worry about it being available. But I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.

    Afraid to start solids

I was TERRIFIED of solids. But it turned out well. I started with refried beans, melted cheese, and poached eggs. I moved on to scrambled eggs. At 9 months out, I have a good idea what I do and don't tolerate well but my body continues to change and so do my experiences with food. I have no complaints. I am so thankful for this surgery. My fears were unfounded in my case and any negative issues have been tolerable... Certainly more so than my obesity. Try not to be apprehensive. Just go easy on yourself and don't push yourself too hard.

    Trying again :)

I did the same thing. Go for it! Don't wait any longer! I wasted way too many years being fearful! Best wishes for you!

    Alternative to NSAIDS?

I take tylenol unless the pain is really stubborn, which is rare. Then it's back to 2 ibuprofen. No problems but I am careful not to overdo this.
  7. I started at 3 months and enjoyed it. I am having issues with anemia though currently so I stopped temporarily. I will resume when that's under control. I love weights!

    Lifestyle Changes

The change is eat less, eat healthy, drink fluid. But I have not found it too difficult. It does take effort though and preparation every day. The sleeve provides an excellent tool for doing this. Food no longer controls me. I could not have made this change on my own. I have no regrets.

    NSV shout outs

Bought this in a large and received it today. I love it! It might be too big before long though...
  11. I got off the sofa and was was walking to the bedroom. My pants fell off. Slid right down to my ankles.
  12. Yes, Wanda, I started losing hair about 3 months out but at 7 months out, it seems to be improving. I was already losing some hair prior to the surgery due to my age and genetics however. Also, I was not as diligent after surgery as I should have been about vitamins. I am now eating more normal foods and my nutrition is better. Even still, my hair loss is not that bad and I am not concerned about it. And I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat.
  13. I know! Thank God I wasn't at work! Lol! Gotta buy new clothes...

    Pre op nerves

You have a much greater of chance of dying if you are obese and don't lose weight. I am 7 months out. It's a brand new world. I wish I had done this years ago!

    NSV shout outs

Bought a bikini in size M top and L bottom. (Still snug but I can fit!) Sitting outside in a sundress with my legs crossed.
  16. Yep! And believe me, you will say, "I'm full!"
  17. Yes, I promise. It gets better, in fact, it gets great. What you are experiencing is common. Look on the positive side: you are rapidly losing and you are not going back to your bad behaviors. And yes you will eat meals again. But food will not control your life. You will eat to live, not live to eat. It feels great.
  18. I am smiling because you both express it so well. You are going to do great. It is hell right now though! From one Texas girl to another, keep the faith and hang in there. And mostly take those pain meds! Congratulations on joining our ranks. It gets better and better!

    Knives in my stomach!

My pain was terrible. Subsided greatly at two weeks. Try to rest and hang in there.
  20. Refried beans with melted cheese on top
  21. Wow!!! You are Wonder Woman! Bless you and congratulations!
  22. I didn't have nausea but had wicked pain. Drinking anything was a real effort. She needs to take her pain meds, rest, try to move around the best she can a few times a day, and do her best on hydration. Some people really suffer at first. Once I reached two weeks, things got much better.
  23. Do not weigh! I weigh only at my dr appts and he prefers it that way.
  24. Mine was 1.5 hours which included the hiatal hernia.
