  1. How exciting! To all of you having this procedure this week, God bless! The only guidance I can offer is expect to feel bad so just take your pain meds and go to bed. Sleep and rest. Only time will make you feel better so just roll with it. You will feel better soon! Congratulations!

    Liquid Diet

Also beef bouillon cubes in hot water seemed to help curb my hunger. They worked best for me.

    Liquid Diet

Yes day 3 was easier for me. Just please hang in there. Remember, this is for your new life.

    My surgery is12/16

I have to smile. I understand! You are probably a bundle of nerves. You'll find your answers here. The doctor should tell you by now how long he expects you to be in. Yes, it will hurt. So take your pain meds and sleep all you can. You will get through it but it is hard for the first month. But it is so worth it! Be good to yourself and try to rest and relax.
  5. I went alone. I took a taxi there. It was fine. No problems at all. The staff were all very kind and there was a lot of pre-op activity to keep me occupied. After surgery, I was so out of it. I was relieved to be alone then. Do what feels best for you. Don't feel obligated. You will be fine without someone there if that's what you prefer. Start this new life by doing what you want.
  6. You will learn new behaviors. It will happen. After a few months of not being able to eat like you did, the old habits die away. Your new habits will replace them.
  7. Externally about a month but I think 6-8 weeks internally based on what my dr said. But I did not feel really unscathed until about 6 months

    Meds

Yes, how far out? I had problems early on. I was terrified of pills. Terrified they would make me throw up, etc.

    Mighty fine NOT

I too was schooled by my sleeve a few times. I consider it the finest behavioral modification therapy known to man. You will never make the same mistake twice!
  10. Perfectly normal, normal, normal. Rest, sleep, take pain meds. Sip as you can and don't be hard on yourself. Try not to stress. Just do what you can and don't worry.

    Bummed out

Two weeks postop my weight loss slowed and I lost 3 lbs in a week. I busted out sobbing at the doctor.'s office. But it was just a temporary plateau. Nothing to be alarmed about. And my emotional outburst was also due to all the physical/hormonal changes. Try to be kind to yourself and focus on rest and feeling better. It will all get better. I promise.

    pain from stitch

I had this happen and OMG it hurt. I'm so sorry you have this. It went away at one month. Just woke up one day and I had only lingering soreness, like from bruising. After that, no more problems. I asked the dr for a refill on pain meds when it happened and he gave it to me with no problems.
  13. I said diverticulosis surgery, which I have. And it explained time off and weight loss. Do whatever feels right. Don't feel pressured into anything. If you don't want to say, just tell your boss "it's personal". The word will get out that you'd rather not talk about it.

    Wound Recovery

Yes I had bruising, especially at the main incision. It faded entirely eventually. It was a mother of a wound though.
  15. At this stage, your body is going through a serious change. I also experienced a lot of intense emotion and I believe it was a physical thing. You are at the hardest part. Go easy on yourself. Try to get a lot of rest. I promise it will be much better soon. Just try not to stress. It will get easier.
  16. It happened to me at month 6. It gets better. I am now at 14 months and it is growing back. Just focus on nutrition, rest, and getting stronger. I promise, it will be ok.
  17. I went from 275 to 155 in a year. I did nothing special. I am still losing but slowly now. Don't worry about this. Just focus on getting stronger. Your body will find the best weight for you. Be happy.

    Nausea

Yes, absolutely. It was horrible. You are not alone. But it got much better! You are going to feel so great. Do the best you can and get a lot of rest. Go easy on yourself. It really will be better soon.

    Help!

I am so sorry! I don't think I realized how wretched I would feel after surgery. For 14 days, I was so beyond sick and in pain it was ridiculous. Then it lifted and started getting better every day. Now all I feel is great. Two weeks of feeling like hell was nothing... I am so glad I did this! I hope you feel much better as soon as possible. This is just temporary!
  20. I did this and it was tough as I am a stomach sleeper but I got through it. OMG you do not want to accidentally wind up on your stomach during the first month.

    Farewell My 140 Pound Friend

What a unique way of looking at your experience. You need to continue writing if you are not already. You have a gift. God bless you in your new life and congratulations. Love from Texas.

    Post op liquid phase

I feel for you. Just know you are not alone. The first 6 months post-surgery can be tough when it comes to hydration, protein, and vitamins. I was not very successful. Many fluids and food made me nauseated. The good news is it was temporary. At about month 6-7 it became much easier. Do the best you can and don't beat yourself up. Your body will adjust in time.
  23. Isn't it almost too good to be true? I also am amazed at how, not just my habits have changed, but my thoughts as well. Sometimes I am tempted but it is fleeting and even if I gave in, my restriction would rebel. I don't feel cheated or deprived. I am nothing but satisfied and I swear when it came to food before, I never felt satisfied. Always just one more taste. I am thankful every day that I live in a time and place where I was able to have this life-saving surgery. What a blessing it has been.
  24. This made me smile ear to ear! We were two days apart! I too am feeling so wonderful and thankful. If anyone reading this is feeling fear, all I can say is, believe in yourself! You will be so glad a year down the road!
