  1. Yep, this was my go-to after surgery and I still keep them in the freezer at 15 months! So handy and very versatile! Try them with a little soy sauce.

    Hair loss?

I started losing some hair at 3-4 months. I'm 15 months now. It is growing back slowly. I am 58. I don't care!

    Guess what?

And I have become reacquainted with mr collar bone!
  4. This made me smile and I do mean that in a loving way. I am 58, I travelled for work before and after my surgery, too, and I developed cold feet and doubt before my surgery. But I saw my beautiful mom die a slow death from obesity complications. At least she had my help. I will have no one. I cannot go through that. I had the surgery. Fifteen months out, I swear to you it was a miracle. Best thing I ever did. Don't let fear make your decisions for you. Believe in yourself. God bless!
  5. The amount of food you can also depends on your surgeon. I can eat about 3-4 ounces of food, depending on how dense it is and that's all. I think some people have less restriction. I am very content with mine.
  6. I think it depends a lot on how far out you are. At 15 months, I eat differently than I did at 6 months. I now eat a little larger portion at a time, but still very small compared to what I used to eat ( and what others eat). Now I eat at mealtime. Before I ate every 2-3 hours. Breakfast is an egg, maybe a little cheese, maybe a piece of turkey sausage. Lunch is peanut butter, some chicken salad, maybe a little fruit. Dinner consists of a very small piece of chicken, steak, etc, and a tablespoon of a veg. I sometimes have a little high protein milk as well. (Still love milk.) I generally eat nuts before bedtime.

    Bland Taste

I was not prepared for the taste thing! But yes it did come back, very gradually. I am 15 months out and things are pretty normal, although there are some things I just can't bring myself to eat. I was a huge sugar freak before. It still tastes "not good" to me now.

    Feeling regret!

Your body is wigging out right now with all these changes. Just try to go easy on yourself. You could not overeat now if you tried. Be glad of that. In a month or so, this new behavior will become second nature to you. Your relationship with food will totally change. I promise. Please don't worry. Be positive. Get rest. The very best is ahead.
  9. I still can't handle pudding though and it used to be my weakness. My one year was in Sept.
  10. I drank Premier before and after surgery and it worked great. I hated it after surgery though. The sweetness gagged me but in time my sense of taste went back to normal. Still a great source of protein and very convenient.

    Psych letter?

Mine was pretty straight forward. When I met with her, she asked me a lot of questions about my expectations, my history, and she wanted to make sure I was informed about all the pros, cons, risks, etc. But she was very supportive and in the end my letter said I was a good candidate who should benefit from the procedure. And she was right.
  12. Bouillon worked well for me... Maybe it was the warmth. But it quelled my hunger. I drank it many times a day. It's just a memory now for me but I do know it was tough. But please persevere. It is so worth it.
  13. I don't see a problem. Just be aware that it may stimulate your appetite and don't give in. Overeating is not easy to do after surgery, even a year out. But don't sabotage yourself. I think if you enjoy it and you can handle it without eating, why not?
  14. Thoughts? Experiences? I am 58, down from 272 to 160 in 14 months. I will likely lose more but am not pushing it. I wear a medium now; I am 5'4". My body is pretty slim now but I carry some excess in my abdomen. I doubt I can justify surgery for that. The skin on my upper arms is a little droopy but that's not a huge deal. My neck drives me nuts though. It's not enough to make people stare or run away but it bugs me! It's just a saggy stretchy spot on my neck like a skinny old lady might have. I hate it! Anyone else looked into plastics?
  15. Please have the surgery for yourself. It doesn't matter what he thinks. This is for your life and your health. He is not thinking of your welfare so please think of it for yourself. Please don't let him bully you into losing this opportunity. It's the best thing I ever did.
  16. EXACTLY. I eat to live. Food is no longer my enemy.
  17. I waited a few months after vsg to drink anything. I was not much of a drinker so it was no biggie. I am 14 months out. I can drink what I want. I still don't drink much though. I might have 2 glasses of wine on a sat night now and then. If I drank more it would not be a problem. I have no ill effects.
  18. My weight is constant too and it doesn't seem to matter what I do or eat. I'm wondering if it's absorption thing. But then, I really just don't eat much these days!
  19. I am 14 months out. I never experience physical hunger and my head hunger has gone away too over time. I know I need to eat because my energy level will get low. I eat small amounts frequently, like a couple of handfuls of nuts, every few hours. I pretty much eat what I want. I just eat way less than before. I just have no hunger. I was a binge eater so I know about cravings and overeating. I've lost about 115 lbs. i wear a medium. I feel so very blessed.

    REQUIREMENTS

Go to a seminar with the surgeon. He/she will give you the checklist of required pre-op tests and procedures. They will check with your insurance and find out what, if anything else, they might require. All of the surgeons have their own rules and requirements
  21. I was not allowed caffeine during my pre-op. I drank decaf. I went back to caffeinated coffee I think a month after surgery.
  22. My surgeon said no smoking for 30 days. He wanted to make sure his patients quit. I hope you will use this opportunity to stop smoking and start your new life nicotine-free.
  23. This will truly be the start of a new life. What better Christmas gift? God bless!
