Burping, Farting, Pooping. OMG who am I?
@@RSM 79 Do you feel that the burp/potty issues are the prime suspect for all these complex emotions?

Puree food recipes
Did the doctor's office give you a Protein chart? I went down the list and picked the foods that had the most protein. Then, I cooked them in preferred ways, and pureed them with milk and greek yogurt. Tip: Pickle juice is a calorie-free to offer flavor and mushability. Also, homemade chicken broth has 6 grams of protein per cup. I used that as well for blending. I made portions of tuna salad (yep, with greek yogurt and pickle juice! I did add a blended celery) chicken pureed, had to add minced onion or it would be awful chopped liver! Yep, you heard it. Nice and creamy, with greek yogurt and minced onions refried Beans... chicken zucchini casserole. If you pureed before you bake it, then you don't pureed it after baking, yum.

Feels like hernia pain
It's day 8 and my pain is pretty much gone. Except for the lower-left side, where everyone complains about. However, for me, it feels like a very strong hernia pain. I had a hernia in other places before, and I know that pain. It feels like some part of you is jammed inside tightly in the wrong place, and is being clamped down on! Try jamming your finger in the door and nobody there to open the door for you... and then breathe through that 24/7. SO I'm wondering, with the rewiring of the plumbing inside, is there any chance that some stuff shifted around post-op, and slipped through some newer spaces in the intestines? Or is that what the post-op pain is about, and I should stop being paranoid?

Anxiety
I had RNY two days after you. I still cannot go outside, because I am so shaky, I'm terrified of falling. In the hospital, I had trouble breathing. Instead of getting asthma treatment, they told me I was anxious and hyperventilating. Who knows. It's really frightening to the body to undergo these changes, and the brain takes a while to catch up with the forced changes.

packing/ prepping for hospital
PJ's that are large on you now. I say this because your tummy will be very swollen, and you will not be able to tolerate the waistband pressure. Also, you will be uncomfortable if your shirt sticks to the steristrips. I took my own chicken broth (6g of Protein per cup!) and sipped on that every hour, rather than just Water.

Burping, Farting, Pooping. OMG who am I?
I don't recognize my post-op body. I mean, I just deposited my Breakfast with a vengeance, before I was able to finish my lunch. Is this a temporary plumbing recalibration?

Raging-high BP after surgery
Wow, I can't believe there's another human like me. I've had several surgeries and births, and my BP always freaked out. I did ask the surgeon yesterday about increasing the BP meds, and after one week of hell, I finally got a straight answer: "We do not manage blood pressure, speak to your Primary Care". Well duh! No wonder they haven't been addressing it. I was calling the wrong place. I will make an appointment to speak with the PCP. I cannot drive yet to get there (I keep fading in and out and am lightheaded from the BP). Thank you, @@TraciHade so much!

How long should a liquid 'meal' take to eat?
I went for my one week post-op today, and was cleared for purees. I came home and tried pureed, and it went down extremely easy. So far so good. I've been able to manage to get it in at around one hour. So it worked out well. I guess I'm just less swollen by now. Liquids bloat me instantly, food does not. Go figure.

Week One - I'm on a high!
Okay, breathe! Start a word document for keeping track of your thoughts as you have sudden inspirations. Personally, I use Google Docs. Weeks before, I began to compile a list of foods that I *do* cook well. Then, when the list was long enough, I began to calculate the ingredients to see which one was most worth cooking. Finally, one day I made a shopping list. It took at least three weeks to actually go out, buy them, cook them, portion it, and freeze it. And THEN I got really excited, as I felt very empowered. That document turned out to be my lifesaver. Because, one day I learned from the site about refried Beans. I've never eaten them in my life. So I went out, bought a can, tasted it, loved it, portioned it and froze it! ... and added it to the document to my 'inventory'. Slowly I accumulated six weeks of food for post-op.

Week One - I'm on a high!
I was just cleared for pureed today at my one week visit. I’m eating chicken zucchini souffle and hummus, and I’m in heaven right now. I was also told that me pre-op cooking frenzy of various 2 oz. portions of protein-packed foods will be enough protein to satisfy the 60 grams a day. I will not have to supplement with protein shakes. How intensely exciting is that? Planning, shopping, cooking, measuring, and freezing... SO WORTH IT!

Drink concotion: Carrot Juice, Orange Juice, Almond Milk, Vanilla Extract
Almond Milk has 1 gram of Protein per serving, and only 30 calories. It is packed with Vitamins. This is not a protein-intended drink, but motivation to get my fluids in post-op. There is no sugar in the almond milk, and 24 grams of sugar per cup of juice, but only 4 oz. was used in my entire Water bottle.

Protein shake products spike my blood pressure!
I wonder if it shocks my system into metabolizing it, and causing distress. I've had it with Ensure, and with a protein gel. I will be seeing the surgeon today.

From waddle to wattle
I'm not fifty yet, but genetics has forewarned me to expect to gobblegobble as soon as the weight loss is extensive. I promised myself I will rip that flapper off the first opportunity I have. Ick. WILL NOT LOOK LIKE GRANDMA!

Still not able to eat
I spent 9 hours in the ER yesterday for IV fluids. I finally decided today to keep pushing myself to drink even if I felt repulsed by swallowing. It's working. I finished an extra 10 oz more today.

looking for size 18-22 pants and shirts
I'm 6 days post-op. As soon as I have someone else's size 16 or 1x stuff, I'd be happy to pass mine alone to you :-)

Still not able to eat
I had to call the surgeon's office to ask if I should keep drinking and ignoring the 'full' feeling. They said absolutely. You might want to try to push yourself ever so gently.

Onederland and A New Progress Pic
Oh, I love your pictures! I'm snickering here, thinking, "Why, that looks like one of those skinny people I'd never want to socialize with"!!!! LOL how my life will change now. I'm 6 days post-op, and am already feeling closer to onderland. Way to go!

Show me yours, I'll show you mine
People are surprisingly non-queasy to see the port-sites post-op. I thought that was very interesting to discover.

Protein shake products spike my blood pressure!
I've finally figured it out. Anytime I have ever tried a protein shake (any variety over 15 grams), my blood pressure explodes, and I pass out. To prepare for surgery, I cooked protein packed foods and stored them in my freezer so that I won't have to purchase any protein powders. I wonder if anyone else discovered that they too were extremely sensitive to protein products?
