Wow, I learned so much here. You guys are amazing.
First thing I cleared up is my misconception that I would need several weeks’ supply of Protein powder. Apparently, it’s barely a week or so. This is excellent news. Regarding chicken broth, I will ask the NUT tomorrow if there needs to be a certain nutritional cut-off, or if I can cook my own. I can cook a two month supply for about $13, which is very easy and cheaper than buying many cans.
I am going to probably spend some investment on smaller packs of various Protein powders. I am a very picky eater. If I have to narrow myself to a pasty concoction that I will not be able to get down, then my recovery will be awful. I’d rather ‘shake it up’ a bit and have variety.
You’ve all been great here, so thank you. And keep it coming!

I'll be going it all alone. But I'm used to that by now.

In New York, Medicaid will ask you to have six weigh-ins and six nut visits, and a 'medical necessity' evaluation from the surgeon. They tell you that you must have a BMI of 40+, and two disabling conditions. They make it sound complicated, but when it really gets down to it, you will see yourself through it.

Because of my family history, I am actually looking forward to the card-visit and testing. If everything looks good, I'll be elated. If stuff is messed up, I sure want it fixed!

I endured for three whole weeks and it paid off. I got scheduled for July 1st surgery. At this point, I no longer wake up at night from the hunger pangs. I keep sipping liquid all day long to keep the pangs at bay. I'll say, stick it out. You can do this.

I just got schduled for July 1st, and I meet the team on Monday. I feel just like you right now, so I can't even imagine how I'll feel on Monday!

I have given birth several times, and I do take forever to get my head screwed back on. I prepared for four weeks off, but seeing all your ambitions above, I think I am only going to prepare for ten days off. I am a piano teacher, but I teach only non-verbal and autistic students. A change in routine is very upsetting to them, and I know the parents would prefer to have me sit in pj's than cancel :-)

Yes, there are restrictions for market items. Historically, I have not been able to pay for supplements. In Wal-Mart, the shakes and Vitamins are in the pharmacy isles, a first indicator that it would not be payable with f.s. benefits.

If anyone else here is surviving from food-stamps, I would appreciate your guidance (and not your judgements, please!). What kind of shakes/soups/vitamins should I stock up pre-op to prepare for post-op? Obviously, I can only purchase whatever is payable with food stamps. Thank you.

I am meeting with the surgeon pre-op on Monday. I need to explore the correct keywords to use in conversation. The goal is to have him understand to send away for insurance authorization for a Tummy Tuck to be included in the initial surgery. I need to explain it as a medical necessity. It is. Having given birth several times, I struggle with fighting rashes and infections every summer. I cannot even fathom how much worse it would get with the weight loss post-op. Thank you.

Wow, that's very helpful. I'll begin to focus on documenting, rather than 'splainin' till I am blue in the face. Thank you so much.
