  1. It's day 8 and my pain is pretty much gone. Except for the lower-left side, where everyone complains about. However, for me, it feels like a very strong hernia pain. I had a hernia in other places before, and I know that pain. It feels like some part of you is jammed inside tightly in the wrong place, and is being clamped down on! Try jamming your finger in the door and nobody there to open the door for you... and then breathe through that 24/7. SO I'm wondering, with the rewiring of the plumbing inside, is there any chance that some stuff shifted around post-op, and slipped through some newer spaces in the intestines? Or is that what the post-op pain is about, and I should stop being paranoid?

  2. I had RNY two days after you. I still cannot go outside, because I am so shaky, I'm terrified of falling. In the hospital, I had trouble breathing. Instead of getting asthma treatment, they told me I was anxious and hyperventilating. Who knows. It's really frightening to the body to undergo these changes, and the brain takes a while to catch up with the forced changes.

  3. Wow, I can't believe there's another human like me. I've had several surgeries and births, and my BP always freaked out. I did ask the surgeon yesterday about increasing the BP meds, and after one week of hell, I finally got a straight answer: "We do not manage blood pressure, speak to your Primary Care". Well duh! No wonder they haven't been addressing it. I was calling the wrong place. I will make an appointment to speak with the PCP. I cannot drive yet to get there (I keep fading in and out and am lightheaded from the BP). Thank you, @@TraciHade so much!

  4. Okay, breathe! Start a word document for keeping track of your thoughts as you have sudden inspirations. Personally, I use Google Docs. Weeks before, I began to compile a list of foods that I *do* cook well. Then, when the list was long enough, I began to calculate the ingredients to see which one was most worth cooking. Finally, one day I made a shopping list. It took at least three weeks to actually go out, buy them, cook them, portion it, and freeze it. And THEN I got really excited, as I felt very empowered. That document turned out to be my lifesaver. Because, one day I learned from the site about refried Beans. I've never eaten them in my life. So I went out, bought a can, tasted it, loved it, portioned it and froze it! ... and added it to the document to my 'inventory'. Slowly I accumulated six weeks of food for post-op.

  5. I was just cleared for pureed today at my one week visit. I’m eating chicken zucchini souffle and hummus, and I’m in heaven right now. I was also told that me pre-op cooking frenzy of various 2 oz. portions of protein-packed foods will be enough Protein to satisfy the 60 grams a day. I will not have to supplement with Protein Shakes. How intensely exciting is that? Planning, shopping, cooking, measuring, and freezing... SO WORTH IT!

  6. I'm not fifty yet, but genetics has forewarned me to expect to gobblegobble as soon as the weight loss is extensive. I promised myself I will rip that flapper off the first opportunity I have. Ick. WILL NOT LOOK LIKE GRANDMA!
