249 lbs... haven't seen this number since I was 18
KQH replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gym is empty at 4:30am - my favorite time to go! -
It's gorgeous! Congratulations

What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
KQH replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been able to eat anything with no problem except breads make me feel like there's a rock in my stomach. Pasta, lo mein noodles, bread, crackers, etc. No vomiting, I just feel overfull and uncomfortable. I'll take a bite or two sometimes and know I'll pay for it later, but I'm an adult and I'm making a conscious choice. -
Best and worst "compliments"

"Wow, you look great! You're so lucky you could have surgery to do the work for you." ::sigh:: -
Cruise has been canceled due to surgery date; need letter to get cruise fees refunded by travel insurance company.

You should be able to call the insurance company and ask exactly what they need. -
HOW MANY OF YOU HAD YOUR TASTE BUDS CHANGE?
KQH replied to gpvegas's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Because I eat a diet rich in good Proteins and veggies, I find that I don't stomach (ha!) chemical taste well at all. Artificial sweeteners are the worst! I was addicted to Diet Coke, have taken two sips post-op, and have no desire to EVER do that again. I've also found I can't handle the amount of spice I used to like. Tongue and mouth, not stomach. Milagro the Mexican Wonder Tummy does just fine with it, but my mouth burns on even moderate spiciness. It seems to be getting a little better but still not where it was. -
Yes! I had PCOS and thought I was pre-menopausal before surgery. My surgery was July 1st, started my period July 22nd, and have been like clockwork ever since. I'm not sure if I'm thrilled or want to cry!

Medical transport card for us too equalled special line for the return to the US (much shorter!) and our driver simply handed the customs agent our passports and surgical passes, he looked, returned, and waved us on. TADA!

Think I found my surgeon...Dr Sergio Quinones
KQH replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Q was my surgeon and I'd definitely recommend him or use him again. Very pleased! -
So grateful - Dr Quinones

I'm 2.5 months post-op and my scars are still really visible but fading fast. I have no doubt that I could wear a bikini and no one would notice. My stretch mark "scars" will be much more noticeable than the sleeve scars once the sleeve scars fade to skin color. Plus I'm super pale (and 47) so everything like that is extra visible on me -
I'm always a bit taken aback when I see someone sharing how awful they felt when they were "so heavy" and how great they are now - and their starting weight is either where I am now at 80+lbs down or even below! Just goes to show it's all perception.

One month out and becoming miserable.....
KQH replied to Change it up's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like a lot of what Dr. Weiner has to say. I don't agree with everything but it was refreshing to see more emphasis on fresh fruits and veggies and not PROTEINPROTEINPROTEIN https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4qN8k1ix0DoCLM6VhDvz8w -
I adore bread and thus far (almost 4 months post-op) it doesn't adore me back. It makes me feel heavy, sits in a ginormous ball in my stomach, and stalls my weight loss - I even gain when eating it. Sad. Very sad. But still worth it! And I have hopes that someday I'll be able to add it back happily and healthfully. If not, it's STILL worth is.I was hoping I was TinMan'like and able to

Milagro the Mexican Wonder Tummy and I are doing FABULOUS! 109 days post-op and I feel great. Eating lots of fresh veggies, good quality protein, and other great stuff.

Another one who started out in tight 26/28 or 30/32 and can still wear those clothes even at 84lbs gone! I do need new clothes but I don't have a whole range of sizes to choose from in my closet since I've been 26/28 for as long as I can remember - the sizing just grew with me I'm going to a work conference mid-November at Disney World (we own a travel agency) so I'll be buying some things for that then. Otherwise, I'll keep pinning and holding as long as I can!

One month out and becoming miserable.....
KQH replied to Change it up's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I went to Mexico for my surgery and wouldn't have a local team providing support, I've done tons of research for myself. I felt very comfortable making my own choices as far as what to eat and when, using what my surgeon suggested as a guideline. My personal choices were to start pureed and soft foods earlier than recommended, I don't eat 80g of Protein every day, I eat a lot of veggies, I don't use protein shakes/mixes/bars on a regular basis, and I eat whole foods (clean eating, paleo, whatever... it's real, not processed). Much to my sadness, I've found that simple carbs like bread and pizza crust don't work for me -- I stopped losing, I actually gained, I felt "heavy", and so I'm leaving them out for now. I don't believe carbs are BAD, just at this point in my journey, they're not my friends. When I hit 80lbs gone, I began the Whole30 program to eliminate dairy (OMG, no cheese!!!!), gluten, legumes (I miss black beans) and added sugar, including artificial sweeteners, from my diet. An elimination diets of sorts. We'll see how I feel when the 30 days is done and I'll make additions... or not... from there. I eat over 1,000 calories almost every day (usually closer to 1,200-1,400) and am still losing at a great pace and HEALTHY so whatever works for you! -
One month and still have incisional pain
KQH replied to sweethime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine magically became better between 4-6 weeks too! I was told it was the nerves healing/growing but who knows? -
318.6 to 234.8 today (haven't changed my ticker yet). I was sleeved 7/1 so 109 days. I eat a ton of veggies, good protein, and real food. Right now I'm doing Whole30 and love it!

Has everyone out there lost hair post op?
KQH replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just past the 12-week point and so far, no hair loss. We'll see! -
Checking in! Down just over 70lbs since pre-op, eating and drinking like a "normal" person, off shakes and powders and such unless I want one (Quest bars, yum), getting plenty of veggies and some fruit with my protein. This week I hit my first BIG weight loss goal so there was some definite SnoopyDancing going on!

I had paper tape on mine (incisions were glued) and left them on too long. Totally my fault as I was chicken to take them off even when the surgeon said it was okay. Two of the incisions would've healed a lot faster and neater if they weren't stuck to the darn paper!

Some of us accelerated our diets and are doing/did well. Your mileage may vary.
