  1. The pre-op is rough. Just hang in there. Have you lost any weight so far?
  2. I was recently banded a week ago...a few days ago I got Protein shake sips "stuck".. I started sliming, and had pain that came and went over 20 minutes...it was radiating from my upper center chest/back then out. Had I not know what it was I would have thought it was cardiac related. I could feel I was swollen and the shake sips were just sitting in my lower throat...I had to look at the ceiling..open my mouth, and I could feel the Protein Shake eventually go down. Needless to say, I stayed on Clear Liquids for the next 12 hours. scared the crap out of me. I'm not swollen anymore, thank goodness..but now I know what will happen later on if I don't eat slowly and take small bites.
  3. You guys will do great! Only a couple more days, Banded2behealthy!! :-)
  4. Oh...I was scared most as I was laying in the hospital waiting. And then wondering what the heck I did to myself when I woke up! Lol. It was painful at first, but that does go away. (Walk a lot, like that say...and get a heating pad). First, my hunger was non existent....Now, I'm afraid to say, I'm back to being hungry...Of course, I am on liquids still! I get mushies in a couples days from now, and honestly can't wait!! I have lost 20 pounds since start of pre-diet till now. Which is really good, I think! It's early yet, but I feel it is worth it! I'll keep you posted on how the mushy stage is....I'm literally having dreams about refried beans, and grits! Hubby says he can tell I've lost weight already...awe.
  5. I have bariatric advantage. Not my fave.
  6. You guys have to take chewable vitamins? My surgeon insisted on these chewable ones that make me so freaking nauseated. They are pretty bad. I can't imagine taking these for life. There must be something better...what are you all taking?
  7. Awesome...makes me feel better already :-). Grits sound sooo good, being a southern girl. I have to admit I'm so scared of food getting stuck. I had a moment yesterday when I took a couple sips of my protein shake..and I felt it get stuck...I was apparently too swollen for it, plus had a big gas bubble pushing against it. It was painful! After 20 minutes, it went down and the gas came out. I just drank water or clear juices for the next 12 hours. I can drink a shake fine today...I just can't imagine how horrible it must be to get actual solids stuck...I will be a chewing machine when that time comes!
  8. Way to go, girl! That's awesome, you should be proud of yourself!
  9. So far I'm doing good! Gas pains come and go...they were pretty bad at first, but I feel better and better each day. At first I had no appetite...but now Im pretty hungry and looking forward to chewing actual food. I'm on liquids until the end of this week. I must have been swollen yesterday because I couldn't swallow any protein shakes...just clear liquids. I've noticed others seem to swell a little a few days out, so not too worried :-). So, are you excited? I was sooo nervous the day of.
  10. I walk about 1/2 mile...but not pushing it till I at least am eating mushies. Get dizzy without food.
  11. I have lost 10 pounds since surgery...which is great! But, like you said...we aren't eating anything! Lol
  12. Can't wait...I'm 1 week post op. One month seems like forever, right now...lol! I'm looking forward to actually chewing...oddly, I miss that.
  13. I had mine 10 June! So I'm 1 week banded as of tommorrow. Feeling better today...was really swollen yesterday and couldn't get my protein down...fingers crossed today goes better!
  14. Keep us posted! I don't go in till next month!
  15. Normally I would crave sweets, but after all the protein drinks and juices, I want spaghetti or something savory....hubby made spaghetti tonight...ugh....want a bowl so bad!
  16. Oh, I'm fine...think I am just swollen. I'll stick with clear liquids for a bit then try it again....like you, I'm wondering if the protein is making the gas worse. Sounds like you are doing really good! You should be proud!
  17. I'm with you on the commercials for food...my appetite is returning, and all I really want to do is crunch on something! Lol
  18. Today was a bit scary... I woke up feeling tight...sipped warm tea...then later on drank a protein shake, and felt it get stuck! How does a watery shake get stuck? It was painful....I walked around with my head pointed to the ceiling, and mouth open because I felt a bubble of gas pushing against what I drank. Took 20 min to get the sip I took down and air from my stomach out. Now I'm sipping water, scared to drink a shake! That was god awful. Other than that... I'm good! Lol. Heating pad is helping my left shoulder.
  19. How long after surgery did you feel normal? (i.e. no aches or pains, energy, able to exercise like you did prior)
  20. So this is normal, then! Seems like a lot of gas! Makes me wonder what my belly looked like when it was filled with it. Big belly balloon...lol! I'm thankful to be on this journey with you all too. It's nice to be able to relate on all this.
  21. Every time I think the gas pains are gone, they return with a vengeance...ugh. Starting to wonder if it's the protein shakes.
  22. 6 months?!? OMG. Is it still painful? It gives me random sharp pains through out the day.
  23. @@bbyruth I'm scared to lay flat too. Luckily have a recliner which helps...until I have to get up. Standing up can hurt at times, and I really notice the port when I do.
  24. If I ate this way before the band..I would be starving, shaky, salivating if I smelled food and irritable. I've never been on calories this low without suffering for it. With the band, I'm not getting any of that! I'm really surprised. I hope it remains this way! I will say, I'm kinda sick of liquids, but it seems to be working. Do you all get a ton of gurgling sounds going on when you drink something? My dogs look at me expecting something to pop out of my belly...it's so loud!
