  1. I had the same thing... the first week or two I didn't get nauseous, or feel over full, I could eat anything as long as i chewed it to pulp and only had something get stuck once.

However, I portioned every bit of food out because I was afraid to overeat and bust my staples.

Now, three weeks out, I have started getting nauseous when I eat greasy foods. I eat sugar (imitation sugar gives me migraines), but i have not eaten the unhealthy sugars (like candy), only things like yogurt, popsicles and instant oatmeal.

I am still watching portions carefully. fear does wonders.

  2. unjury has a viariety sample pack, 2 each of 5 flavors for about 24 bucks.

MuscleMilk will send you a sample if you email requesting it.

Insure will give you $3 coupon for proving your information, and i think they are emailing more offers.

I know there are others... and one of the discussions on this site has a more complete list, a quick search should pull it up. But companies want you to try their products... all you have to do is ask. :)

  4. So I had RNY on Monday June 30th. Came home yesterday the 2nd around 11 am. Overall I feel really really good. My surgery day weight was 228 and my HW was 242 the doctor was so impressed with how much I lost but did joke and day "you didn't leave me with much room to work in there!" A couple of times I have felt light headed and I actually haven't had a BM since Saturday :( so I just took milk of magnesia to hopefully get that process going.

Anyone else have the same post op issue with BM's?

Yes. I went a few days without going and when I tried to go it was too big. :( Ouch. Next time I will be taking a stool softener before I get to that point again.

  5. I think this is an excellent idea. Stalls are an issue for everyone & it's always interesting to see how other people deal with their stall. I stalled & if I hadn't seen the issue about carbs I would not have known to cut back on them.

After you cut back on carbs... did your stall finally end? Details. How long were you stalled? How far out from surgery were you?

And to anyone else interested in the Junies 2014 Facebook page: It's a closed group so no one on facebook will see out posts. If you want to join, please message me here on BP and provide your facebook email address and request to be added to the Junies Group, I will invite you. (Please, only those who have had surgery in June 2014.)

I don't know how to "message" you except for this way (I'm new to BP), unless this is what you mean by message you. I had surgery on Monday (June 30) so I just got in under the wire. Anyway, please invite me. Should I send you my F'book email "publicly" like this? Please let me know. Thanks so much. I'm really eager to join the FB group!

I sent you a private message... at the top tight of the bariatric pal website there should be a mail icon. click it and it should open the list of mail you have received. Let me know if you have any questions.

  7. Have no idea what that is. Can some one please educate me?

My surgery was June 2, and I have stopped losing weight. I'm keeping my calories below 600. I have no idea what is next.

    Someone please help.

Did your doctor actually tell you to stay under 600 calories a day? A lot of people find that when they aren't getting enough calories their body goes into starvation mode and refuses to let go of even one pound. You might want to check with your nut or the doctors office.

  8. Tomorrow will be one week since I had RnY Gastric Bypass...to say I'm struggling is a total understatement. I have this tightness/pressure in my belly (still have my drain in...pulled Tuesday hopefully), diarrhea (how does that happen when I'm barely putting anything in my body), and nausea...really, it's only when I try to get my Protein shake down which is unbearable. I can't finish one. I'm tired and weak too. :( Is this normal? Tell me it will pass! I need some light shed. Everyone tells you their horror story and I'm tired of hearing them because so far, I feel like I'm living in one. I'm sure much of this is emotional too. I worry I'll never eat normal food again! I've never been so excited to advanced to pureed foods so I can have yogurt! Any suggestions or advice anyone could give would be appreciated. Also, is it painful or bad when they pull your drain? Please say no. :(

The only time I have been nauseous is when I ate too much. I would suggest you review your surgeon's recommendations and make sure you're not pushing the shakes to fast.

    Good luck!

  9. Oh hell yes! I got a bottle of the chocolate flavored Calcium chewable tablets. I think they are Bariatric Advantage. Disgusting!

And they have fake sugar in them. That stuff gives me Migraines. I did like the lemon calcium chew, but it's only like 150mg of calcium so I would have to eat 10 of them. I was never big on candy, and now I can't imagine how long it would take me to eat 10 of them, on top of all the other Vitamins and Protein shakes and meals. Insane.

  10. I went there just to see if I'm eligible, which I haven't found out yet. Now I just got an email that they are sending a prescription to my Dr to be signed. WTF , I didn't sign up for anything, they don't even know my dosages. I do not like this.

They called me. The prescription is required so they can tell your insurance what the doctor is prescribing and see if they will cover it.

  11. I started not wanting surgery. I wanted the weight management my insurance would pay for. I dieted and worked and lost 27 pounds. And during the process I discovered the reason I should have surgery. I can't do it alone. I tried. I would suggest you see what your insurance needs. Do they require the 6 months weight management before approving surgery? If so, maybe you could explore both options and have nearly 6 months to decide.

    Good luck, whatever you decide.

  12. I always assumed it would work. The statistics show it works. Then I had the surgery 5 days ago and realized... it's only a tool and if I don't find a way to use it, I'm not going to lose anything, and certainly not everything I want to lose. Not to mention keep it off.

  13. I'm on my high Protein diet I'm having RNY on June 23rd and I just thought of what I would miss after surgery and that thing is PIZZA!

So what is the one food you would miss?

I had RNY in April 2013 so im a little over a year out. pizza is my number one, all time favorite food! Everyones perception of rny is that you will never be able to eat certain foods again. That is not true! I was worried about never having pizza again too. I eat pizza now but differently than before. I have ultra thin crust vs thick. And 1 slice vs 6! LOL

Some people avoid crust altogether, but I feel that we eat such a little amount, might as well enjoy it. Some things I refuse to give up! I've lost around 150lbs so I must be doing something right!

First, congrats on the 150lb loss.

Second, I was so afraid my nut was going to refuse to write the recommendation letter because I said I want to still eat pizza, just less. She was adamant that I wouldn't be able to eat pizza (or any other high calorie/high fat/high sugar foods) if I wanted this to work.

I don't exactly believe her, and your story lets me know I am right not to do so. I do believe she had my number though... I do better with absolutes. I quit smoking, difficult, but I did it. Now, i wont even allow my self one puff, not one drag. I know it wouldn't stop with one. I am looking forward to eating pizza again... but I am not even willing to try until after my stomach has healed. I know myself too.

  14. Sometimes its all i can do to not act. My husband will go to the store or fast food and he doesn't ask me if I want anything, he knows I don't. It's all I can do to just be silent and wait for the opportunity to pass. I consider that a win. Sometimes we have to take all the wins we can get.

my H will take my son to get junk at the corner store in the evening...i dont eat that kind of chocolate or candy. i am a chocolate snob. lol. and the artisan chocolate place is stupid expensive and closes at 6. so win-win for me! i get my super dark chocolate at trade joe's and eat small pieces of that. only time in last year i actually got in my car at 8 oclock at night to drive to get chocolate... i had super bad PMS! took me four days to eat 2 bars. so i think i am doing pretty well, considering. lol

i am an impulsive person when it comes to food. that is one reason i got fat. so its good we usually dont have any extra money. what a crazy thing to say! :/

It's not crazy. Sometimes you get your will power where you can. And I remember when my kids we young and times were leaner... we still found a way to buy cigarettes and eat out at least once a week (dollar menu at McDonald's at least). Where there's a will, there's a way. And sometimes, all we need is one excuse to grab on to... and that goes both ways.

  15. Could someone tell me what is the procedure like on the date of surgery, do they take blood test, urine, blood pressure etc?

I had surgery on Monday. They took blood, and my blood pressure. That was it. They tested my blood again before they released me to make sure everything was good. They did want me to go pee before i left, but they didn't take a sample, just to know how much to make sure my system was working.

  16. 4 days post op. Handling things OK cottage cheese and pineapple in blender sf popsickles. Little Protein and Water. Some Soup not much. The rollercoaster of emotions are way to much for me right now

Just focus on healing, mentally and physically. Write it out, that's my "go to" for when something is bothering me or when I'm emotional or even when I want something I know I shouldn't have. Sometimes it helps to free write and let your thoughts out so you can make sense of them. WLS has been known to bring out a lot of emotions, resistance to change, fear of the unknown, old fears and reasons why we overate in the first place, to name a few.

Just can do this. You will get through this. Just be. Let yourself feel, you have a right to feel these things. You just need to learn to control them from leaving you in unhealthy ways. Channel the emotions into healthy activities, like writing and retrospection, exercise and food planning to avoid pitfalls.

    You got this!
