  1. I had my surgery in June and my Mom is still making me nutty. My hubby and Dad are really supportive. But my Mom and Sister-in-law drive me batty. Both are very overweight and know I have struggled for so long. But it's like this was a personal attack on them that I had this surgery and am losing. I've been having some problems with vomiting here and there and when my daughter (who is 10 and totally proud of me) says anything to my Mom about how worried she is when I'm not feeling well gets "Well your Mom made a bad decision and now needs to live with it." Nice, huh? I have learned to shrug it off instead of blowing up. And my daughter has stopped saying anything to Grandma because she herself supports me.

If you have to keep them out of it. DO IT! Make your life easier and don't let others get you stressed or discouraged!

    Best of luck to you!

  2. I feel ya! I lost pretty consistently for 4 weeks and have stalled myself. But I cheated and weighed myself this morning (I usually wait till Tuesdays) and finally looks like I have lost some. I'm tired easy too and my Migraines are acting up which really does not help. But I'm trying to keep the faith and do the best at what is required. I've also decided not to beat myself up. If you know you are doing your best, then pat yourself on the back and keep on going. We can do it!

    Take care!

  3. I understand that we are not supposed to drink 30 min before and after meals. I've seen the YouTube video that explains it. But is anyone having serious trouble not drinking DURING meals? I am really having a very hard time. How can you eat oatmeal without milk and not choke? Or enjoy a summer meal outside without getting over heated? Any ideas?

  4. I'm on regular foods now as well. My surgery was June 3rd. I've mostly been sticking to high Protein stuff like chicken. I've made filet minion (sp?) kabobs too. But I find that I have to eat soooo slow it's sort of annoying. And getting all my Protein in is not easy. Yes, I have tried some regular stuff like Cheetos Puffs (1/2 of a serving). And still lost 2lbs that week. Just have to be sure to log it and be careful. I've even started drinking some wine. 6oz of white is about 7carbs. But again, I log it. I use My Fitness Pal religiously. It's the only way I can keep track of things as well as STAY on track. I tried to eat a very small salad from Noodles yesterday and really only got the chicken down. High Fiber foods still don't sit well. I think it's trial and error at this point. HUGE learning curve. Hope that helps a little. Also hope more people post stuff. Stealing ideas is the best thing from this site! Best of luck!

  5. I'm finally not too nauseous too often! But it took a good 6weeks to get there! If I eat too fast, I will still have problems. But it's soooo much better. I honestly did not think it would ever end. But I was reassured here and it was so true. I envy the people that do not have any problems with tummy upset. But I think the majority of us do. You'll be past it and will look back and realize it was only a short time. Good luck!

  6. I told my 10yr old once I had a surgical date. My hubby and I sat down with her and explained it all. Also took questions from her. She's very attached to me. So I had to be honest. I asked her not to talk at school. That I would tell the moms that I thought were loving and supportive. I was dead on except for one who has not spoken to me. But thats ok. I know she'll come around. My daughter has been a great motivator, getting me moving and watching my diet. She's very proud of me. Plus, she wants me to do it all in Orlando this fall. :)

  7. I ignore the calorie thing at the end by not hitting that I'm done logging. It automatically starts a new day for you next day.

I'm anal about that app. Be sure you set your own goals based on what your nutrition experts say. You can change it as you go. And I love that you can scan items bar codes for easy entry!

    **My Fitness Pal** for sure!

  8. So I had my surgery on June 3rd. Was doing pretty well till about a week ago. Ended up dehydrated over this past weekend and landed in the hospital for 3 days because I kept vomiting and having diarrhea. They did a barium study to look for any strictures and found none but did find that I have horrible reflux.

Now I'm home on a clear liquid only diet. What do I do for Protein??? I cannot get a hold of my surgeon's office. I was admitted to a local hospital, not where I had my surgery. And they do not do bariatric there.

I am lost! Can anyone give advice? Thanks so much!

  9. Hi June sleevers! My surgery was June 3rd and my 2 week post op visit was yesterday. All good. I've lost 20lbs and have been upgraded from pureed to soft food! AND I don't have to crush pills anymore (thank goodness).

My visit went well then I got home and had flu like symptoms for hours. Couldn't keep anything in. Don't know what that was about. Now today I'm having a hard time again. Went for a great walk this morning before all the crazy storms hit Chicago. Then I REALLY wanted a good drink of Water. As we all have learned, that's not quite possible anymore. So I sipped and sipped and felt overheated and icky. All day I've had problems getting Protein in. At last count after dinner I only have 42grams. I cannot even think of a shake right now. I made tilapia for dinner with some greek yogurt and it was fabulous. But now I have to wait the required 30 minutes to drink and all I want is Water. I know this is quite a journey. But I actually find the hardest part to be this liquid thing. 64oz a day. Sipping only. NOT drinking before or after a meal for 30 minutes. This is HARD.

Anyone else going nuts over this?!
