  1. Thanks! Good luck to you too. My dietician said she's really worried that I'm getting dehydrated easy. And I was like "DUH". Just keep swimming I guess...
  2. You will probably be told (as I was) that you cannot swallow any pill bigger than an aspirin for 2-3 weeks. I am on a few meds as well and had to crush them and eat them with apple sauce. So buy a good pill crusher now to be ready. Eating them is nasty but it's only for a little while. I had my 2 week post op visit yesterday and was released to swallow any pill whole. But you still have to get used to swallowing them with only a sip and not a gulp with them all at once like I was used too! Best of luck! This is an awesome place for support. Welcome!
  3. I had my 2 week post op visit today and am THRILLED to say that I get to advance my diet from pureed to soft food. NO more gross chicken! But I found that I am quite dehydrated. I was not surprised as my nausea is not going away and I have way too many loose bowel movements (TMI sorry). The nurse practitioner said that it's very common and that I should be eating a little right when I get up and drinking lots more. UGH! I am soooo thirsty! But of course I have to "sip" not gulp or I get sicker even faster. Trying to find a happy medium here. Any suggestions? And, yes, I am on both Protonix and Zofran.

    Alcohol

I had my 2 week post op visit today and I specifically asked about this! Especially since it's a HOT few days here in Chicago and friends are having lots of outdoor parties in the evening. I was told NONE for 3-6 months (but NEVER anyting carbonated again). My dietician actually said it's more like 3 months usually. She was sweet and said she can imagine how hard it is to refuse wine from a girlfriend. It's true but I am lucky my friends understand. (Or they don't know cuz I have not said anything). Suckville for summer, I know. But we did this for a reason. Stick in there and have a great summer!
  5. I just ordered the tea! $20 off your first order! Looking forward to a new flavor! I am sooo over chocolate!

9 months post op w/ pics

I'm 12 days post op and I'm starting pictures TODAY! Thanks for the inspiration
  7. After 10 days I find myself very easily nauseous. I also have very little stamina. It's hard to get these walks in. I am SO thirsty that all I crave is Water. The last few days have been OK but still nauseous every day. Today is particularly bad because I also had a migraine. UGH! Anyone else having nausea and stamina issues this far out?
  8. I was doing OK until yesterday. I had a very bad migraine and just didn't feel up to much. My walk was torture. And I couldn't keep anything down. Now it's 11 days and I'm having the same problem w/o a headache to blame it on. I went for a walk as usual and ending up coming home half way through because I had to run to the bathroom. Then I sat in my rocking chair (from when my daughter was a baby- glad I kept it SO comfy) eating ice chips because that settled my tummy. But now I'm nauseous just relaxing on the couch. I cannot imagine eating anything. Just the thought makes me feel sick. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hypochondria about DVT

I'm on day 11 and walking is not easy. I go for shorter walks so I don't get too exhausted. But walking in any way helps. If you walk to stores, that is awesome! No stores close enough to me to walk to. I'd be all over that! Just for Starbucks Passion Tea!

    Champagne-Go time

I'm here on day 11 post op and cannot keep anything down. But boy does wine and margaritas sound good! We'll get there. Hopefully by the end of summer. Good luck, it's worth sticking to it!
  15. It's day 3. Hope you are doing well!
  16. My preop diet was 10 days. And pureed stuff right after surgery. Granted I'm really only handling shakes. But I'm trying a little food every day.

What did you have for lunch?

I'm lucky I like Protein shakes. Plus I bought a few different extracts. It helps to mix up the flavors. I LOVE coconut and the caramel one is awesome too.
  18. That is bizarre. My doctor told me not to worry, that I was going to lose weight during my pre op. He said that he used my pre diet BMI and that's not going to change. My insurance has paid without really anymore questioning. I DID have to have a sleep study. But that was for the anesthesia doctors. I also had no co morbidities. When I checked in on post op day (June 3rd) I was 12lbs down and my nurse congratulated me.
  19. Yea...I'm spreading it out. They want me to get 90g in one day. Doing my best!
  20. I just called Walgreens and they have zofran ready! Now my fingers crossed it helps since I just vomited again! Ugh!
  21. I've asked my doc for more zofran. As for the protein, I'm getting an average of about 80g. They want 90g but I still can handle only so much.
  22. I've asked my doc for more zofran. As for the protein, I'm getting an average of about 80g. They want 90g but I still can handle only so much.
  23. I'm 9days post op and am FINALLY feeling like I can put stuff in my new tummy! Not much, mind you. But better than the last 8days when I couldn't even get water to stay. I'm still burpy and gassy. But I found that as long as I sit up for good 30 minutes, it actually feels OK. Hope everyone else is doing well! Have a great weekend coming up.

    ITCHY

Anyone else itching around surgical sites? I'm one week out and I'm going to lose it! Benadryl not helping. I know my mom's always said that means healing. But this is nuts!!!
