    Need something new

I'm not sure if the broth I'm using is the best but I love it and it's a beef flavored. It is not low-sodium. Called Kendall farms. And use it for my soups all the time and I find it actually at the dollar tree.

    Post op

Day 1 and day 2. Not pretty. Not gonna lie. Walking is ok but getting up from bed is unbearable. Hurts to drink anything burns really bad going down. Gas must be in there because my back and shoulder blades could use a massage. The IV morphine did the trick but day 2 I have to try to drink more and not be nauseas. Wish me luck

    Any November Sleevers?

I totally did the same thing you did. I cooked pizza for my son yesterday and it smelled so wonderful. I just put some pepperoni and cheese in my mouth chewed it and spit it out. I realized then I can do this for a month. Anyway nothing was damaged in the chew and spit. Lol
  9. I am using south sac I'm only four days postop. I absolutely love their program it was very fast for me as well. You can go in and do most of your appointments in one month it can definitely be done within three months. I'm doing well better than everyone anticipated and I'm super happy.

2 months post op/ feeling malnutrition

Even my friends Who were not given the long list of Vitamin supplements That I was are taking just a multi-are taking it twice a day. I can scan the list of Vitamins that Kaiser requires although they are extensive. I'm doing Centrum Chewables morning and night. Not centrum women not centrum senior we were told adult has the nutrients. I also take a chewable Vitamin D that I got online, selenium liquid 3 x a week that I found The Vitamin Shoppe. Liquid b12 from CVS every morning, in 2 weeks supposed to start calcium 1500 mgI found a liquid at Walmart supposed to take morning noon and night. Iron with Vitamin C at bedtime., b1(thiamin) every morning and I have to crush it I couldn't find a chewable or liquid. Who knows if I'll continue to do that forever but at least until I get my vitamins levels checked in a few months. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    In sitting Pre-op hell....

Portion control is my main problem. I'm hoping once this tool has helped me meet my goal that I'll be helpful to have a little bit of something when I want to. Most healthy people do. With the right exercise and diet you should be able to have a treat when you want one just not overdoing it. Even now I made sure to have sugar-free pudding chocolate because that satisfies my chocolate fix. And right now I can only have 1/2 - 1. Hopefully within a month or two my body will be in sync with my mind. Kaiser also offers a program called mindful eating which I'm starting next month.
  12. That only happened to me once and I felt like it was something I ate. What kind of protein are you taking in? Some sugar-free products do that to me which is why I've tried to have most my protein not be in shakes.

    Can someone please help me...

I've never heard anything about taking a certain amount of time to consume protein. It takes me about a half an hour to eat my Greek yogurt. Only takes me about 10 minutes to drink my soup or broth with genepro protein powder, and takes me about 15 minutes to do a protein pudding because of small bites.
  14. I did the same thing. Got my affairs in order best I could and wrote a letter to my mom and my son. I think anyone going under major surgery should contemplate those things. Hopefully she meant it in a good way.

    Northern Ca Kaiser people

I started this process two years ago in San Francisco because it was not available in Sacramento. I had the worst experience of my life. The nutritionist was horrible, The orientation was horrible, The surgeon was horrible. I felt like they really did not want people to have this done they were trying to get people not to do it. It was more like a scare factor in the orientation. I remember the surgeon telling me that I was always going to feel hungry and then if people tell me I wasn't that they were lying. I was at 280 and he wanted me to lose 45 pounds. Well I lost 55 pounds and decided screw him I can do this on my own because these people are horrible. So them asking you does more than 10% is totally normal. I felt like they really wanted you to do it on your own. Then I had an injury that set me back and of course the weight came back. Then Sacramento started a program. Now I was 295. When the surgeon met with me and saw that I had lost so much weight before that I was able to do that he did not force me to do it again. He just wanted me to have shown that I could make better choices. I only had to lose 14 pounds. Which definitely happens if you do the 1200 cal diet. And Sacramento did not require a sleep study. The experience here is completely night and day to experience I had in San Francisco. The nutritionist still not my favorite but I feel better about it. She always answers my questions. Dr. Grinberg is wonderful and the staff is wonderful. I could not say enough good things about it. Started in May definitely could've been done by August but I took my time with preop diet. Now I'm four days post op and down 10 pounds. Feel great. So happy they have this program here. I would recommend it over south sf any day!

    4 Days Post

I'm on day 4. Rough few days then better and better! Happy to report I have not had to drink one yucky sweet protein drink and was able to get in 60+ protein ... If you can have dairy try light and fit yogurt from any grocery store and protein pudding from vitamin shoppe! Wonderful, easy to eat and you can eat small bites over a half hour or ore if needed. Take half at a time. And hot beef broth really goes down well tastes good and mixed with protein powder is awesome. Still not sure what's gas what's hungry and whats full vs acid. But I feel so good I feel so blessed to have made this choice. Lbs are dropping so fast. Can't wait til next month, start eating normal small meals and move on with life! Happy mama here ????

Pre-op liquid diet = achy legs?

Low-carb can make you need potassium. Potassium should help with leg cramps.

    4 Days Post

Today I had cream of wheat with a little agave. Propel water, protein pudding, cup of half broth and half cream of mushroom soup strained of course, added my genepro flavorless powder, water, 1/2 Greek yogurt 1/2 applesauce. So far I'm at 55 grams of protein. I'm happy.

    4 Days Post

I know it's been so much easier than I anticipated. I'm feeling very blessed for that. My program doesn't have me starting protein until tomorrow. I won't have any problems because I love Greek yogurt, protein pudding, genepro flavorless powder for soup. Are you already doing protein? I am doing cream of wheat in the morning though. I hope you're doing better tomorrow. Are you on Pepcid?
  25. Can't wait to have eggs kaiser wants me to wait 8 weeks because people were coming in with blockages. So I'm afraid now and eggs were my favorite go to for protein!
