  1. No problem. Clearly there aren't people posting like crazy in here wanting the group to start. Meeting space...well, the library offers free meeting spaces. There are many branches to choose from. Crescent Hill is close to being downtown without having to go downtown (if you were thinking a weeknight) but the Bardstown Rd branch might be the most "central" in the city.

  2. I'm having one of those moments where I wonder how the heck I have a doctorate degree when I can't figure out an app :) So, I've posted a few times and that's great but sometimes when I come back on one of the icons in the line of icons along the bottom will have a red number on it. When I press it I am taken to a list of the posts I've made and to the far right of each post there is a gray number. What the heck is that? Did someone comment on it? Like it? If I click on that post all it does it take me back to the original thread where there are no additions. Clearly I'm missing something. What am I being notified about? Thanks!

  3. My place told me that by law an insurance company can't take any longer than 30 days...but the person that does their insurance says mine tends to be 2 weeks. You can always call the dr's office and ask for the insurance person. They should be able to tell you what they typically see with your insurance.

  4. I'm just about to get a surgery date so I can't speak to regret...yet, but I do know what it's like to over research and over think things (I'm a damn psychologist- occupational hazard). What helped me was making what I called my "skinny list". I guess you could see it as similar to a pro's list. It has things like, "Fly on an airplane without the embarrassment of having to ask for a seatbelt extender or see the horror in the eyes of people walking down the aisle when they see you and momentarily fear they may have to sit next to you." and "Walk into a store, any store, and randomly buy something off the first rack I see just because I can..without having to go to a special fat person's store." Find what will inspire you!

  5. I think you hit a panic moment but don't let it sink you. You are still pre-op. If you ate a couple of Cookies at their house it's truly not a huge deal considering you seem to be managing to keep all else on track, including exercise. This doesn't mean you will be a failure post-op. Remember, post-op you'll have the small stomach and appetite on your side. Plus, even then, there is a company www.protifoods.com that actually sell cookies. There are different types but they are around 90 calories, 1 gm fat, 4 carbs and 15 gm of Protein. You could have 1 in an "emergency". Heck, they have a pizza, Soups, etc. for those moments. The world is changing...there are tons of support options to help us! Hang in there :)

  6. I had a mandatory 3 month waiting/diet from my insurance company too. It ended last week! I should get the final ok and a date next week. Trust me, it goes by very quickly. I thought the same thing at first.

As for food, honestly I fit in some "goodbyes". I still managed to lose 12 lbs. In fact, during my worst craving-filled month, I swear all I wanted was taco bell and chocolate for a week, I still lost 7 pounds. The dietician said it was because overall I was moving more and watching the rest of my meals. So...my advice is don't deprive yourself and don't overdo it. Find a balance. This is just the start of your new eating lifestyle so give yourself permission to ease into it right now. I anticipate I'll be in my 2 - week liquid pre-op period next week and don't feel like I'm really grieving any specific food anymore.
