  1. Manage the expectation by not weighing yourself every day....this is sage advice I received personally from someone who went through this....after losing 2#/day for 2 weeks, I lost 5# this past week. Frankly, all of it may have been lost in the first two days or the last two days and it won't matter because I don't know. The fact the loss stalled is accepted to be normal.

    Waiting from approval from ins(aetna)

Yes, the dates on my approval letters corresponded to the actual surgery dates.

    Waiting from approval from ins(aetna)

I was also approved by Aetna following a 4 pound gain over a 4 month weight loss period.
  5. My nurse told me dehydration leads to fatigue. Also, she said there could be residual effects of anesthesia.
  6. I was sleeved on 9/11 in the afternoon. I remember nothing after the pre-op room until the recovery room. On a scale of 1 to 10, I was asked to rank pain, which I gave '3' (low). I slept the afternoon and early evening. I remember my wife and son visiting, but I wasn't very talkative. I watched high school football on ESPN and started dry heaves at 1AM. Dehydration was my biggest issue in the hospital and to some extent since then. I have not had any nausea episodes since that first night. As soon as I started eating protein, Mr. Poop came. I have started my chewable calcium and multi-vitamins. I resumed work six days after surgery, because late paperwork prevented me from working in the office on day five. I enjoy the Premier Protein shakes. Muscle Milk appears to have to much carbohydrate. I bought the sample pack from Chike....I guess it is an acquired taste. Right now I am getting my ahead around the mechanics of pureed meat for late next week.

Aetna...What did you do to get approved?

Documentation required was same as Mike. Approval needed an entire month. Seems there was some delay over my two year weight record because it came from overseas.

Not losing weight on PreOp diet

I've lost 14 pounds on first five days of pro-op diet. No cheating. I am taking in more than 100g of protein drinks each day with sugar free jello, broth and Crystal Light. Try to get more protein drink. Target 4-5 per day.

    The last supper

Based on my 9AM pre-op meeting tomorrow and the Italian sandwich in front of me....the sandwich!
  11. This has taken longer than expected. From initial consultation in February to endoscopy in July and insurance approval 1 August, the date for my surgery was only set Monday for 11 September. Nonetheless, this is a significant relief. Others with similar dates, let's share the experience. My pre-operative diet will only be one week. Fred

    File Submitted....

My file was submitted on 1 July and I got my answer (approval) on 1 August. I was very anxious for two weeks and would call to insurance co (Aetna) for updates. This process may take longer than 2 weeks, although I was last of 30 people from my doctor's office approved.
