  1. How many people are using the nutribullet blender?

    Seltzer

I had surgery Nov 2013 and I'm thinking I can have a Samuel Adams lager one tall glass per day. Will it really be a big deal. Same with ibuprofen or aspirin. I understand early after surgery definitely not but how about now.
  3. What size are your meals do you still weigh to 4ozs how many meals a day? Do we increase meal size so we can only eat 3 times a day for our nutrition?
  4. Can we chime in on what our meal sizes are more than a year out. Do some still measure 4 oz or do we eye it and just eat till we feel full. How many meals are we eating and how many snacks on an average day. Is the goal to keep measuring 4oz meals or do we increase the meal sizes. For example I eat nutritiously still however I eat the same size portions as a thin person who never had surgery. I have a very small piece of homemade cake no frosting for desert after dinner. I do not eat more than 3 times a day. I sometimes have a snack of fruit during the day. I do not eat anything after dinner till the following morning where I have breakfast. I am interested to know where others are as far as their program is going. Thanks.
  5. The point of this thread is to get people's perspectives
  6. Night eating is a bad habit that was a big contributor to obesity. After a dinner it's not hunger that you experience but the mental obsession with food that carried over after the surgery.
  7. I would like people's opinion on size of meals I don't think doctors expect for the person to continue having 4 Oz meals because by no stretch of the imagination can someone work all day and expect to be eating 6 to 8 times a day to get nutrition from food sources excluding protein drinks. I could be wrong but I would hope to have the capacity to eat a small meal 3 times a day to get the nutritional sources.
  8. Basically I am speaking on the premise that the person gets up I'm the Morning and in bed by 11pm
  9. If your getting your proper nourishment during the day I mean if you cannot manage getting in your protein before dinnertime you have all day if not then I'm missing something
  10. How is night eating considered healthy
  11. Well over a year out and only 4 ounce meals that is so sad. So I guess to feed the human body the proper nutrition and calories yeah I guess it's more than 3 meals a day. I'm so grateful I don't have to eat micro meals all day it doesn't strike me as practical especially for those that work. It doesn't sound like fun to eat all day. But hey for those that like to chew I guess is a welcome activity.
  12. And as far as eating more than 3 meals a day and 2 snacks I guess doctors are telling their patients to eat as many meals and snacks as they want sounds like a dream come true but I guess some of us will pay the price for indulging too much but hey what do I know.
  13. my only concern is that snacking is best done only when needed not a habit forming feel good remedy to boredom or depression. I snack but only in between meals and especially not after dinner. I don't think its healthy to have food in the stomach when lying down going to sleep. Im not saying to deprive oneself but snacking has to be very carefully monitored so as not to form grazing habits because of what we think hear or see.

    Caffeine?

the acid from the coffee whether its caffeinated or not also its a diuretic which means it stimulates your bladder to go more. Which means dehydration possibly.
  15. It's amazing how people will defend their right to chew food at any hour of the day or night. Yes food is slowly becoming the focal point of the daily life. Most unfortunately.
  16. yeah I agree Breakfast then snack lunch then snack then dinner nothing till the next day. otherwise eating is an activity not because you are hungry and to me that sounds familiar with why people are overweight to begin with. yeah I guess your right I have a personal issue when it comes to eating more than just nourishment sounds like eating to feel content and where will that end.
  17. So then it becomes an excuse to eat more than 3 meals a day because we are hungry.
  18. food releases a feel good chemical that lights up the same pleasure center of the brain that drugs and alcohol and sex do. So it becomes a pattern of oh im hungry let me eat now there is a reward felt through feeling better. A lot of the time if not all a glass of Water will fill the stomach up and quench that hunger feeling. But isn't it the hunger feeling we felt even though we had a big meal and that because of hunger we ate way more than the body can process and as a result stored it as fat.
  19. Well okay I would try a glass of Water before I would eat.

night eating a big no no

The whole point is food should not be something we turn to only eat to not feel hungry forget full.
  21. I learned that we are not supposed to eat before bed at least 2 hours before bed anyway. I decided to not eat after dinner. why should i get in the habit of eating when im not hungry. If i eat after dinner than its head hunger not physical hunger. Night eating contributes to weight gain. after dinner around 8pm I have a glass of Metamucil and Water mixed. I always monitor for constipation that seems to be a big one (no pun intended) among those who had weight loss surgery. To minimal amounts of food and the body cannot excrete correctly. So fruit plenty of water and veggies are the order of the day. The Metamucil helps with satiety. I am over one year out and reached goal but just as the surgeon warned I will gain 15 % back after one year to one and a half years and he was right. I am a comfortable 34 waist up from a 32 waist. So I am monitoring my weight gain very carefully. Basically for one year all I ate was meat and veggies no carbs except dairy carbs. and i was down to 140lbs and a comfortable 32 waist. But I guess that was too ambitious for my body so now i weigh 160lbs my surgery weight was 296lbs. I had my surgery on Nov 11 2013. I had surgery in NYC Manhattan at st lukes roosevelt hospital. So now i added carbs like rice potatoe, mac and cheese or a flavored egg noodles in sauce but small amounts just for flavor really but my meal consists mainly of meat and veggies. sometimes a piece of fruit immediately following the meal as a desert. I eat like a thin person eats. I bought a bicycle for when the weather gets warmer out. and i belong to a gym but havent been going, I really want to be a comfortable 30 waist but my body may not be the set point and it might be unrealistic of me. I see the surgeon every 6 months for 2 years then once a year after that to do routine blood work to check for Vitamin deficiencies.

night eating a big no no

Also food should not be equated with rewarding or pleasurable thin people eat to nourish not to feel full. Why us a late night snack important sounds like some of us don't want to completely let go of the old self

night eating a big no no

I suppose you have a point that calories are calories and if you consume only a certain amount why should it matter when we eat. but everybody is different and i feel if im not active and i eat then im only going to store my calories as fat instead of burning them off during the active day time for me. after 6pm im sedentary so I am relaxing not burning calories from walking and working during the day. And i guess its good not to eat at night so we don't have nightmares from the food being processed in our stomachs while we sleep.
