  1. Hey man...I am not losing weight on a regular basis right now. I was sleeved Sept 16 and dropped about 60 lbs in the first 2 to 2.5 months. I started hitting the gym in November and lifting weights. I think I'm swapping the fat with muscle. I'll go for 3-4 weeks and not lose any weight. Then..I drop like 10 lbs..and don't lose any more for a while again. However, my waist has gone from a 54 to a 48..and almost about to grab a 46. Shirts have gone from 4XL to 3XL and I even wear a few 2XL now. The reward from this...and how great I feel...I stopped worrying about the scale. I'm 6 months post op; down 105 pounds; have the sex drive and stamina of a 25 year old; and feel like one big stud right now!! Lol!!! The weight will come off. I like the toning at the gym!
  2. Is just echo the comments on drink plenty of water and get your protein in. Don't worry too much about eating too much! I felt the same way and honestly it changes so much from day to day for me. Some days I can eat something and be stuffed!! Eat the same thing the next day and still be hungry. Reality...I've still lost weight! Just keep doing what you're doing and remember you can never get enough protein. It does help control the hunger.
  3. I've shopped similar stores to DXL. I think they mean well. I was a bit like that at first because I didn't want to share all my size business with them. I finally decided it didn't matter. They work with a ton of big guys all the time. They don't want to offend me, just trying to help. I started giving them a chance to help when I actually need their help. Otherwise, I politely let them know "I'm good!"

I will hand you a snicker bar so you can snap out of it and turn back into your normal self!!! I had one handed to me when I went crazy during the 2-week liquid diet! It gets better! No worries. Sucks in the beginning but trust me you will regain "normalcy." The first 6 weeks for me were not great, but I felt normal after that. I started hitting the gym and enjoying the weight loss! I'm 5 months out now and I have to remind myself to be careful what I eat because I feel capable of eating whatever I want! I might not be able to get through much of it, but I don't have any problems eating. Super sex drive has kicked in...among other post op benefits....it's a marvelous journey!!!!! Lion up! It gets better man! Just take it slow. Crazy ups and downs...but more UPS!!! ????????
  5. I'm a bit behind on the threads, so just catching up. I'm sure by now you are much better Bro! My wife took one for the team four years ago after our oh shit moment happened! She was already doing a C Section so I wasn't trying to get snipped when she was already getting cut open! Hopefully you're back on your feet and doing good. I laughed at your comment about the scale because I have the same situation. It's gotta be the muscle weight from lifting. As soon as I take a few days off I lose 2-3 lbs.
  6. The Moobs (also known as flapjacks....hadn't heard that one until now, but it works!! Lol!) are still here. I'm 5 months out. Im lifting weights 2-3 times a week and have been doing so for 2 months. I can see my upper chest gaining muscle, so I'm working on turning flapjacks into crepes!!!! I think they are my largest insecurity too. I'm still determined I will be shirtless at the pool sometime in 2015....so they will have to go!
  7. I have been overweight all my life. So....the words exercise and gym were rare parts of this Big Boy's vocabulary!!! I had Surgery Sept 16 and started going to the gym and lifting at 8-weeks out. I was worried about whether I would still lose weight. I am shocked at how much I LOVE weight lifting!! I have a LONG WAY to go. Since I wasn't a previous weight lifter, I'm seeing how much I have to build up to higher weights. Chest presses are about 130-150 lbs. I can press about 275 on leg press. I do row about 210.. But I've got keep working on strengthening the chest..however..IM LOVING IT. CLOSING IN ON THE 100 lb weight loss mark. Hitting the gym every other day! I haven't seen a weight starting with a 2 since Moses parted the Red Sea!!! Saw 298 the other day!! #LOVINLIFE!!!
  8. Congratulations to you Bro! Such great progress in just one year! Thanks for sharing with us. It's very encouraging to hear about your journey man. It's motivating to see fellas hitting or closing in on their weight goals. I laughed at your "hell with the scale" because that's exactly where I am!! I've lost 86 lbs since liquid diet started Sept 2...but most of that loss was in first 3 months. Stalling for last 6 weeks, and ready to start a bonfire and throw the scale in it!!! I'm getting about 1lb a week right now. I got some feedback that my weight training I started in December was too early, and might be culprit. However, I haven't historically been a weight lifter, so I need to tone up..and I'm actually loving it too much to stop!! The scale's slow, but I feel unbelievable, and my clothes are telling the story: True 54" waist in September and moving into 48 in khaki..and loose 50" jeans will be sidelined soon..4x to 3x in shirts. I can't wait to see any size pants beginning with a 3 like you!!! Thanks for the post man & Congrats!!! Good luck with the bike tire! Sure you'll deflate it soon!
  9. THANKS ALL! I HAVE RECEIVED THE FEEDBACK I NEED!
  10. Thanks to all for your posts. I think I will continue doing a combination of weight training and cardio. I don't have muscle that I'd like to have for my frame. I want the moobs gone and to tone up the arms and get the hookup on some abs. I enjoy the weight training a lot. I'm not focused on being Arnold Swartzeneger, but wouldn't mind a little bulk. I don't wanna be the guy who people look at and say, "I bet he used to be fat" because I am not toned properly. I want to see the weight come down on the scale also, but am learning that slow isn't bad. I like the idea of eventually being 220 lbs with a good muscle tone...ripping my shirt off at the pool and thinking...VSG BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Yep..I do the Premier chocolate shakes too. I just started back on them as I got kind of burned out on them after the liquid diet. Definitely your new stomach will remind you if you are taking in too much. I'm 15 weeks out and I still think I can consume like I used to. Then...boom....I get that reflux like feeling like something is caught in my chest.. I then slow it down. Keep up the good work. The hard part is over now. Just get ready for the new Shace.
  12. Well...the topic of women in the guys room has been very touchy in here for quite a while. I would agree with the last statement that since there was tolerance on this post assuming "helpful" comments would happen, if comments like this are going to happen, stay out of the guys room. I've been trying to keep it neutral...and keep my boy Rova from exploding... (Lol!) but I'm about to say nothing the next he goes off about this (no more neutral for Bigboy) because these type of comments put me in full support of no women allowed!!! Just to add more man's perspective, our testosterone gets absorbed in our fat cells too. Since my surgery, I am the pig that is being described. The wood pile is stacked every morning, and we are men!!! Sex is on our mind all the time! We don't try to make that happen, it just is how we were made!!!! My wife had the surgery. She's changing too...but there's something deeper when your wife isn't responding to you sexually. I continue to agree about romancing her. However,if it doesn't work, to avoid cheating, it's time to seek counseling. I think you have been patient Bro! A man can only be patient so long. I understand the pressure comments to a degree...but damn..it's a thing called compromise in marriage too!!! I shouldn't have to beg my wife for sex!!! Here for ya Bro!!
  13. Congrats Shace! Yes, Bro you aren't experiencing anything that I didn't! The gas tank explosions were off the chain!! Lol!!! I will say that it is important to take those sips and eat in small bites. I felt like I was pre-op at times and was tempted to scarf down food. That reflux or feeling like food was "stuck" kicked my ass!!! On nausea, that's off and on for me. Certain foods, especially Pasta, seems to kick off the nausea for me. I have nausea meds that I will take as needed. Took a lot in the beginning. Give us a 1 week update so we know how you are now Bro.
  14. No, I just had run out of prescription and hadn't been back to PCP. Since I was out, PCP wanted to get me a boost. I was mostly low energy and mental clarity was off. I never have problems getting an erection, it's just not as firm as I like it when I'm off the meds. Sex drive does get low when I'm off meds. I will say, however, since surgery I have had a hell of a lot more sex. We've been going at it daily which was definitely not the case pre-op. So...I'll discuss the plan to see if levels are enough to decrease TRT at some point. Not in a big hurry to do so right now!
  15. I am on TRT and have been since 2002. I have regular checkups and labs and everything is just fine. I was just discussing with my doctor possibility of getting the patch so I don't have to apply daily. So...still alive and kickin over here! As for VSG & TRT...I have lost 80 lbs and haven't checked my levels. I have been off my meds for last month or so, and don't really feel any surge in Testosterone.
  16. Yeah I was mainly looking to tone up. Not sure I really wanted to wait until all the weight loss happens. I don't want to deal with loose skin..so that was my thinking on toning now. My doctor didn't really talk to when was the right time to start weight training. Sounds like I might be a bit early.
  17. Hey guys, I'll start by stating I'd appreciate only guys responses on this one please. I started working out at gym in December. I want to know how much you guys are lifting at the gym?? I've not been a weight lifter in past so just trying to see what's the norm. Also, want to understand how your weight loss is going while lifting weights. How much are you losing weekly while hitting the weights in gym? I've been irritated during December as I've lost very little weight. Probably only lost 10 pounds this entire month. Talk some sense into me fellas.
  18. Congrats, great progress! & Happy Birthday!
  19. Congrats, great progress! & Happy Birthday!
  20. Not sure we'll ever resolve the Women posting in the Guys room topic. I do see Rova's point because it's been an issue for a while. Mostly annoying when guys come here to talk to guys about things from a man's POV. The point that matters most is that those posting get support. Guys are on here giving feedback..so the fellas are trying to have each other's back!!! Hell, I thought I gave some good feedback!! Lol!!!
  21. Have you told her how you are feeling? I know that sounds like a no brainer, but for me I can only pass so many hints. I do agree somewhat about not making it all about sex. My wife gets a lot out of other stuff I do that shows her I'm in love with her. Hell I got laid the other day just because I took time to listen and support her about a job change! Unexpected, but a great reward!! Does she not think you find her attractive? Was just listening to her reply to you complementing her.
  22. Congrats Bob! Glad you're feeling so good and making great progress. Makes it all worth it.
  23. Sounds like not a big deal, but hydration makes a big difference. Also make sure to take all the Vitamins they suggest. I had to go to ER for IV fluids at 5 weeks because I was deficient & became extremely exhausted. The gym has really fixed the energy issue. I try to go every other day since I'm just starting out. I feel great in terms of energy.
