  1. This is an old forum...but humor me fellas. How do you handle alcohol after sleeve??? I'm like 1.5 years post sleeve. I love Whiskey. I find I get a huge up front buzz after drinking it..but it fades after 30 min or so. Just curious what other Bros are experiencing. I can drink about 3 mixed drinks before I need to chill...but same thing...it wears off after 30-45 minutes. Hit me up!!
  2. We did Fantasy Football last year with our sleevers. I LOST miserably! Open for more torture if anyone wants to do a sleeve league again. We have to move quick...but thought I'd throw it out there and see if interest was there.

    Fantasy Football PHASE II

We would need at least 8 teams I'd say to get going. Season starts Thursday. Could draft Wednesday night if we can get more teams. Definitely last minute, but I'm in!
  4. I am mostly Goodwill for clothes. Guys here recommended it, and I see why. I get most of my work clothes here, and occasional buy some casual clothes at Ross or Wal-Mart. I don't change sizes as much now cause I'm nearing my 1 year sleeversary. I've saved a lot of money and I get to recycle clothes back to goodwill so others can benefit too.

    Hair loss noticeable/problematic?

I think my hair on head loss is minimal..but closer I get to 40 I think it's thinning anyway. I have trouble with beard hair coming out...but probably do need to keep better track of my protein in-take. Had some tell me to forget it and go bald! I'll keep that in mind...but not sure that's a goal for me right now!!! Need to keep my youth!!

    Shoe Sizes Post Op

I think I've changed too. I was a 13 1/2 before. Need to probably go with a 12 1/2 now. I have some 13-14 boots though that I still wear. Love my boots too much to part with em!!
  7. Definitely! I sold my Ram and bought a Hummer cause I felt bad ass after losing 70lbs. I got rid of my Chrysler & got a candy apple red IS250. Needed power and speed...and it helps I could actually fit in it!!!!! Lol!!!
  8. Had a few bouts with it at my largest 395 post op. Once I lost 50 lbs and got off BP meds, the wood shed is stocked and ready to go. No problems ever getting an erection now. Much harder than ever during sex. So...yes, it does get better after the weight loss.

    Stalls?

I'll put a third agree with Shace on this one. I completely don't lose anything for a good three weeks and then I have an epic week! I might weigh myself more often, but just don't take it seriously. My real measure is whether my clothes fit me better, and the monthly weigh in.
  10. Welcome Alex & Congrats on the sleeve decision! Best decision I've made to have a healthier lifestyle! Lots of veteran sleevers on here with good knowledge & happy to help.
  11. This is the point in the journey when you realize how much life has changed for you. I am about to a 5K walk/run with my daughter on Saturday at her school. I thought it was insane that I wouldn't even have considered taking part in this last fall at 395 lbs. Wish me good luck! Trying to prep for it nightly so I don't collapse!!! Lol!!!

Good luck Bro! I completely enjoyed first 5K and think it's about time for another! Make sure Doc is good with the 5K (I'm sure u checked.) since you mentioned that ab pain. I don't think they have a shuttle as part of the 5K! Lol!!! Enjoy!!

Thanks guys!!! Double bonus is it broke my stall too!!! Dropped 15 lbs with the HIIT I was doing to get ready for 5K!! Now I gotta go dig in the trash & get my scale back! Yep...it wouldn't move...and burning it wasn't working...LOL!!!!

    Post Op Penis Size

This is truly the thread that just keeps on giving!!! I bet it will have years and years of posts on it before it dies! If it ever does!!

    OMG! Bought to go 5K'n!

Well Fellas...I SURVIVED!!!! Let me be clear that I did a nice brisk walk/jog vs running! Lol!!! 54 minutes...but I got it done damn it!!! My daughter had a great time which is what I cared about most. Thanks for all the support because it was much needed! I think I'm ready for another one now that I've caught my breath!!!!

    OMG! Bought to go 5K'n!

No it's just a PTA sponsored event at her school. She graduates 5th grade next week..so thought it would a nice Father-Daughter memory for her. I think it will be no running for me. A nice brisk power walk will do me just fine! Lol!!!
  18. I started out not telling anyone but Wifey, oldest child, and parents. And my two close brothers. People have asked and I have told more people about surgery recently. Wifey is beginning to tell people also. Main reason is after losing so much weight...so quickly...we figure people really aren't that stupid! We may think they don't know...but they are thinking it...just can't confirm it. Also..for me some started expressing concern that I was sick. It is a personal decision. Tell when you're ready or don't.
  19. Yes, the weight training is helpful IMO to reduce loose skin. I've lost 105 lbs in 6 months and I don't have any noticeable loose skin. I'm lifting 3-4 times a week and have been since 2 months out. Lots of debate about why lift when you're trying to lose weight? I'd rather see slow scale movement and see muscle building then jiggling everywhere!

    Size ?

So far I don't have any noticeable loose skin. I'm 6 months out and down 105lbs. I've been lifting weights since 2 months post-op about 3-4 times per week. I think this is a big help.

    Stalls?

Stalls suck...but get used to it!!! It's REALLY....REALLY...REALLY FRUSTRATING....but the are going to happen!!! And I gave definitely gotten on the scale and gained 2-3 pounds!!! Don't let it bother you. You will get past it and the scale will move again. I'm on quite a roller coaster right now where I only lose once a month. Crazy!! I'll drop 10 lbs at beginning of month...and then the stall belts get fastened...and I go for a 3 week stall journey!

My wife is scared and nervous

Yeah...Wifey decided to have the surgery because she didn't think our marriage would be the same since we are both overweight. I had mine mid-Sept and she had hers at end of October. She knows I've lost 100 lbs and she's lost 50. I just keep encouraging her...and she doesn't like to weigh herself. She also doesn't want to hit the gym with me...which I do think would help. Guys are gonna lose differently. I finally got her on scale today..and started calling her Skinny Mama because she had lost a total of 65 lbs now!!!! Encourage each other and, like Cube68, I don't weigh myself that much..and normally not in front of her to avoid the conflicts.

    cramping

I would suggest having that checked out Bigdog. I'm six months and the only cramping I have is a few muscle cramps after leaving the gym. It will make you feel better to check the box. Hopefully it's nothing..but if it's bothering you...get it checked out in case it is surgery related. Let us know what you find out.

How long 'til you ditched your CPAP?

I think you and your doctor really have to work together on the CPAP. I did stop using mine 2 months after surgery. I do plan to take this up with my DR at next appointment just to make sure he doesn't want tests done to confirm. I have used it from time to time...but feel really good without it. Felt like this is one of the benefits to losing the weight. I just have history of sleep apnea with father and a brother and it's not weight related for them..so I'm gonna let Doc check to make sure I'm truly in the clear!!!

    Goodbye 38's, hello 36's!

Islblues...I think everyone is different. I was 395 from the start and lost a lot of weight in face, legs, shoulders, and waist was probably last. I lost the first 70 lbs and still wore 52-54 pants. It took for me to hit the gym and start toning. Then I found I quickly dropped to a 48 and really almost a 46 now. I wasn't a weight lifter before...so I think I am toning up the waist and lower body in the gym now...and the pant sizes are now changing quicker. Again everyone experiences the loss in different ways depending on your body.
