Good Luck to you both! Wedding Anniversary and Sleeversary will now be within days of each other!! Not much true celebrating likely this year since I'll be freshly discharged........but based on the feedback I'm hearing from fellas on here....2015 might require a trip to a secluded island with Wifey!!!! She's sleeving soon also....so should be a great celebration next year!!!!!

Just got an e-mail letting me know I'm approved for surgery on 9/16!!!!!!! Now that the RUSH has passed, although I'm still super excited, IT JUST GOT REAL!!!! I haven't worked out in.....FOREVER!! I did get a gym membership though because I figured Id better get started now so I can continue after surgery! Hit me with some knowledge guys!!! Advice!!! Tips!!! Ready for my life to change in a month!!!

Good stuff guys! I was very curious since during seminar they made it sound like you'd get smashed after a few drinks! I agree with not drinking calories, so I'm sure I will take a break after sleeve. However, good to know a glass of Merlot or Shiraz won't leave me drunk!! Heading to Dietician appointment iin two days. I'm sure I won't share any drinking stories there!!! Lol!! Then on to meet with Surgeon in two weeks. Ready to at least get an official sleeve date.

Thanks Mac. That helps. I am one that can definitely go without alcohol. However, like you, I think it is a guilty pleasure. I'm hopeful I can occasionally still enjoy the red wine. Sounds like red wine isn't agreeing with you though. I'm going to be as compliant as possible because I want to be successful. Maybe I'll just hide the corkscrew!!!!!!!! Lol!!!

Ok Guys, so I've heard that you should be careful drinking after sleeve because you get drunk faster. I'm not a heavy drinker...but I might have a few cocktails, a beer, and a glass of wine if I'm out with friends. Since I'm 385..that really doesn't affect me. Just wandering if you guys can shed some light on how different or not different your tolerance is post-sleeve. I meet with my surgeon in 3 weeks, so I still have a way to go b4 getting sleeved.

Looks like your process moved along quickly. Hoping the same for me. I have BCBS and when I spoke with them, they didn't really mention anything different than the normal requests: psych eval, weight loss proof, etc...so I'll keep fingers crossed. Just waiting on the bariatric center. I appreciate the feedback on not telling. It's a private thing for me..so I won't be telling anyone other than parents, and maybe a close friend that's like an older brother to me. I have young kids...so I could relate to one of the other guys who said they will "blab on me!!" So...my oldest is 10 and she's the one I will tell. As for everyone else...afterwards, yeah...probably will tell those who push. Otherwise, I will let them know Im eating less, and changed my diet to work on a healthier me. Yes, Wifey and are both going to do it, but not @ same time. We'll space it out a bit, but I'm just happy she's decided to do it too! It's going to be good to Celebrate success together.

Hey Guys...new to forum. Finally decided to listen to my doctor and attend a bariatric seminar. Went to a seminar, Decided on the VSG and completed all my paperwork. I am excited about getting started, and just wondering how long it was before you guys got called for your first appointment with the surgeon? Also curious guy's thoughts about who and when tell others you're having surgery? My wife and I have talked about this, but I am a bit hesitant to start letting others know that I'm going to do the VS G. I want to stay focused on the process that I have to go through, and not really wanting to hear a lot of feedback on reason not to do it. Finally, interested to hear how things of gone for guys who have done the surgery along with their wife. I was originally going to move through the process on my own, but always had a concern of how doing so would impact my marriage. My wife was not pro surgery. However, after attending the seminar is with me, we had a long talk. We both realized my moving forward solo would likely cause separation in our marriage. Especially when it comes to sex. She wouldn't feel attractive anymore, and I will be ready to go at it daily. She's now onboard, and I couldn't be more relieved that we will both have surgery. Kids won't know what to do with two more active parents!!
