Insurance approval question
I would call your case manager or your regular contact at the bariatric center. Wifey called BCBS ( we were actually getting impatient about not having a surgery date) and they gave her a date of October 29. A few days later the Bariatric Center contacted us and confirmed an Oct 28 surgery date. So I think insurance May ballpark the date, but final dare has to be confirmed by your Bariatric Center.

Does neuropathy get better after weight loss?
If your nerve pain is connected to diabetes, based on what I was told during seminar you have a good shot at eliminating it. Wifey is getting sleeved October 28 & her last blood work showed A1C was an 8..which makes her now diabetic. We are looking for the weight loss to lower her levels and surgeon seems pretty confident this will happen. Never a guarantee of course, but lots of history of diabetes disappearing after weight loss. Hoping the best for you too Mike.

DAY 5: WALKED MY DOG
Yep. I hear ya. Duke's about 55 lbs. I was worried about it, but Doc said if it wasn't hurting me to continue. I'm going stir-crazy not being able to get to the gym for 4 weeks. I want to start weight training...but I am going to wait and follow Dr orders! Not trying to have any complications.

Ability to drink alcohol post-op, your experiences?
I plan to get more details when I have my post-op appointment tomorrow. It's hard to watch the game with no beer! Not to mention going out with friends who LOVE to drink. Wife and I are going to cut the sodas (plenty other beverage options). I haven't touched any alcohol yet. Too soon..only 1 week post-op!! Again, I had the surgery to change my life and get healthy. That having been said, I'm not trying to be miserable either! I think less frequency & consuming in moderation is the key!

Traveling back home after surgery
Haven't had to experience the family meals yet. I haven't told most of them about the surgery. I'm sure once I do they'll understand that I'll no longer be "feasting" on the "comfort food". Not to say I won't have a few bites of something, IJS, but won't be like "old times!" I feel like I need to be realistic, and also be able to adapt when these occasions arise.

Liquid Diet a Question
How was the surgery Rovobay??? I'm six days post op. Thought it was pretty straight forward. My truck decided to break down on the way there. (Yes, didn't expect to arrive @ ER in a tow truck...but wife says it's also a story with me! Lol!). I got up and walked twice night of surgery, and tried to enjoy the ice chips. Wish someone would've earned me about the Catheter! It was my first surgery...and hopefully last catheter if I can help it!!! Crazy battle with hiccups, but otherwise things went well. Finding out how good the pain meds actually are. Will be requesting a refill because still have pain getting up and down and especially bending down. Overall, mostly about what I expected.

Mens Stats
No worries Bro! I think u are making some good progress in barely 3M! I'm wanting to get to the gym so I can lift, but I can't yet. I'm focused on how the weight comes off. I want quick results like most of us guys, but I want to be toned up with it. I have a one year goal like yours. Hell, anything below 300 will be a HUGE milestone for me!!! Lol! #SLOWnEASY

DAY 5: WALKED MY DOG
I got up and walked my Golden "Duke" this morning. Although I couldn't walk super fast, it felt SO FREAKING GOOD!!! I am normally too tired and winded to walk him. He loved the walk and I did too. Nice to already see how good sleeve life feels!!!!!! #AMAZING

5 is the fabulous number for today
Mine is 16. Never will forget my sleeversary!! It's two days before my wedding anniversary. Very happy for you Bro! Best of Luck! Last week was such a crazy week, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Take it all in and enjoy it! Also, the double bonus for us guys is it's football season!!!!!!!! You can put your feet up and watch the game! Your body is recovering so you have no choice but to let football help with the healing process!!!!!! IJS!!!!!!

Any suggestions for calcium supplements?
Agree 100% with Kindle about getting blood work up done. I keep a regular schedule with PCP plus the bariatric appointments. All recommendations might not work same for everyone's body. Also think VsgAnn2014 and I are taking the same Calcium supplement. I can't start back on mine until 7 days out, but they are a good, easy supplement to take.

Any suggestions for calcium supplements?
My NUT was pushing Calcium Citrate. I talked to my surgeon and he told me to just get the calcium carbonate. Said since I wasn't doing a bypass the Citrate wasn't as important as just getting in some type of Calcium. So, I've been taking some walmart chocolate chewables 2x daily.

I scream for ice cream!
What kind of liquid diet are you on Poginut? IJS Bro!!! Lol!!! I'm laughing over here because I did the same thing...I just did it prior to my liquid diet. I had a 14 day liquid diet, but felt like prior to that I was going to enjoy my favorite foods one last time!! No regrets. I've had surgery on Tuesday and am down 27 lbs since Sept 2. That Cold Stone does look good though, and that photo was wrong! LOL!!!!

Reflux or Full?
Yeah.. I'm basically on liquids but am supposed to create 3 daily meals using applesauce, oatmeal, cottage cheese, etc. I supplement with the Protein shakes to get to my daily protein goals. Wife is making the meals but said she's not giving more than 1/3 cup at a time. I'm not even eating the entire portion most times. We'll just keep weighing & measuring everything as suggested, and I'll keep pumping the liquids. A bit gun shy about overdoing it!

Reflux or Full?
Stupid question...but trying to understand my new stomach. How do u know when your stomach is full? I am on Day 4 post-op. I ate like 5-6 teaspoons of soup...and I've got mild reflux. It eventually settled. So..just trying to not push myself. Some good warning signs would be helpful guys. Getting full isn't quite like it used to be.

That's what's up with Wifey too. We called Blue Cross & they gave us a date but still waiting to hear from Surgical Center. Keep us posted when you hear back. That times passes by so quickly once your date comes in.
