    i'm cheating.....already

you are right, i do need to find something to distract me...the thing is..i cheated at work. lol..i should already be distracted.
  2. that's what we are all here for. lord knows i need some help. i'm sure you read my cheating post on the general questions thread. i'm not sure if i feel more guilty or better since i posted.

    i'm cheating.....already

i do not intend to justify cheating. i needed exactly what i got from this thread and that was a wake up call. i do not want to continue doing this obviously. i made the decision to tell my doctor about my cheat so i would be held directly accountable (in real life). i did, i got griped out big time and they told me they are going to put my picture on the bad patients board. they told me that my cheat more than likely did not cause any problems, but that i need to consider myself lucky and understand that it can/will cause a slip if i continue to do so. they also gave me a formula for Protein and told me that 100 calories needs to equal 10 grams of protein. that is not that easy, so i went to GNC and got the unflavored whey protein. i added it to my chilli for lunch. i completely understand the fact about cutting out carbs. i wish that i would not have added the sugar to my diet, but i did and that is over now. i do not have willpower, that is fairly obvious by my being overweight in the first place. this is hard for me as has been any diet that i have ever attempted. i'm a food addict, i was having withdrawals, and i satisfied a need, which means, i'm going to have to face that decision again, probably tomorrow and i need to be better prepared. it sucks that i did it, and i feel really really bad, especially after considering wasa's comments about post op diets and the failure rates. it all makes complete sense. that of course makes me worry even more about going on to mushies early. if my damn hunger would have just left me alone last week, i would still be on liquids, but i'm not. (and i was eating protein). i'm trying to live a new life, with the same old cravings and thoughts in my head. it's hard, i'm sure that a lot of you guys out there have faced this same dilemna, and maybe by looking at my failure you will avoid the same problems. if i had read this post beforehand, i likely would not have eaten the Cookies. so damn the cookies, and damn food..i hate it...it is evil, and even though i am banded, the problem is still there. 6 weeks or not, every day is a battle..be it life long..or hour long.. (oh yeah, i have lost 15 pounds since the 18th and my body has begun ketosis...having some side effects..so hopefully, i am still on tract).

    i'm cheating.....already

thanks wasa...i guess i just needed a good stern typing to... i kind of wish i hadn't been cleared for mushies early because now i realize how easy everything goes down. i eat the healthy choice Soups with the chicken, rice, etc...it goes down fine. so then i know that i am able to eat the other stuff that i don't need. my doctor has not made any mention of the possibility of messing up my sutures, or harming the adhesion process..i wish he would have. i will go back to my chili for lunch and meatloaf for dinner..i have a whole new day tomorrow. i have a question though, what is the defining factor between mushy food (i.e. chili, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, ravioli, lettuce, etc. and mushed up shortbread Cookies. i know, obviously, that the latter containes processed sugar, etc., but the consistency is the same before it leaves my mouth. why does the body work harder on it, compared to something that has much harder foods in like meatloaf, that contains green onions and onions, and chili with the Beans and all? i'm not a doctor and i'm not in the medical field at all, but the logic isn't there for me. why does my stomach squirm more for something that is softer? well..i don't understand the human body and that is why i should stick with the dr.'s orders. i just need a swift kick in the a**, and if dh knew that i had cookies, it would be coming.... swift and hard. thanks to all of you who have replied, i'm already having a renewed since of committment.

    i'm cheating.....already

thanks lynn...that's what i need to hear. i'm afraid that i'm just making excuses though. crispy..i was cleared to go on mushies last week. i have not eaten anything that is hard. the Cookies were complete much by the time that i swallowed them, but they are by far the hardest thing that i have eaten. you know the conistency of a brownie...they were pretty mushie. i eat chilli for lunch, that is one of the recommendations from my doc, and tonight i will either have ravioli or meatloaf for dinner. i'm not hurting...and i'm not eating until i'm too full. i'm just making bad food choices...and that sucks..i should be all motivated right now and sticking to the plan, but instead, i'm cheating already.
  6. i was sleeping on my stomach the next day. i actually found it more comfortable to sleep on my incisions..if i would turn on my side it felt like things were "falling" out of place .
  7. I e-mailed my doc's office yesterday about the amount of food that i am eating at one sitting. i was told that the danger is not with our pouch stretching as it is with gastric bypass, but the danger is our esophagus stretching. they told me that when i start to burp i am full. i have been following this advice and boy does it work. i don't feel full until several minutes later, but i'm glad that i don't take any more bites.

    Freeeezing..what does it mean?

i'm cold all of the time now. i always get really cold after i eat. my co workers make fun of me all of the time because i'm always freezing at work. i used to get warm at night though, but since surgery I am freezing at night. (i haven't lost enough weight for it to be insulation problems). i have to wear sweats and a t shirt with a sweat shirt, 2 pair of socks, and i almost wear a toboggin (sp), and i have a sheet and 4 blankets on the bed (one is wool) and i have the thermostat at 73. then, on top of being cold, i have cold sweats that i have never had before. it is making sleep miserable.
  9. Hi! My name is Tabatha. I am 25 years old and I reside in Arkansas. I am a Mortgage Loan Processor in training to be a Mortgage Loan Underwriter (3 years or more down the road). I really want to be a nurse, but apparantely I am good in business and I am staying in this field for a while. My high school sweetheart and I are together and we have a 6 year old son (lots of gaps between being together in high school and being together now). I majored in Psychology in College and i love philosophy and debate. I was banded on October 18th and I am loving it so far. I want to be the person that i picture in my head, which is no where near as big as I really am. :boink:

    New pain/left side/ 9 days post op

i took milk of magnesia 2 times a day for 4 days post op, and i took phazyme too when i had the pain. didn't help..i thought it was gas, too. maybe it was just a mean pocket.... lol...

    How many calories?

my doctor tells us that we have to keep our calories between 500 and 800 per day. i could easily go over that, but that is if i make poor food choices. when i make better food choices it is actually hard to get even that much.

    New pain/left side/ 9 days post op

made...i called the doc about it and he said that a lot of their patients report the same pain, but they aren't sure exactly what it is. they said it is just a "stitch" that happens about this time for a lot of their patients. the day after typing this, i had to go home from work because it got so bad..and take pain pills. it has not come back since. i think i just needed some more rest.

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

oh yeah..i got really nervous right before surgery. i was addicted to this site. my dh said this site was like my bible at that time because i needed to read posts so badly and this was my primary source of information. i was really nervous the day before..i was so nervous that i did not even really want to eat (you know last meal :boink:). it passes though, it is really not bad. the pain is not bad and if you are like me, the first week will pass quickly because the meds will keep you in a blur. make sure you have a heating pad and someone to shovel broth at you when you get home. it's also good if you have all your laundry and stuff done. it hurts to bend over the washing machine (if you are short like me) fresh out of surgery..and forget carrying the basket for a while.

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

i actually lost all of that weight in a week! lol..that is why i am not weighing anymore. dr. wellborn says that most people lost quite a bit right after surgery because they lose the Water weight that they carry around. he told me that ketosis would start around day 9, i think i'm getting there. i do not have strept (thank goodness) just a nasty cold...and the fatigue from ketosis. it is not as easy as i thought, being in the mushy stage. this is when your willpower is tested. for instance, brownies are soft :boink:. not to mention that you really get full fast. this morning i had a scrambled egg with cheese and i wasn't completely full so i grabbed some yogurt. about 2 bites later and i was stuffed. if you focus on eating your Protein there really isn't room for much other food. i'm still trying to figure out how i can get that much protein in a day.

    how soon for mushy foods?

i was banded on the 18th and my doctor gave me the green light for mushies on Friday because i was hungry already. they said that some people with lower BMI's get hungrier faster, and also that my swelling has just gone down faster. i was hungry an hour after eating a whole can of pureed great northern Beans. now that i am eating mushees i am never hungry. i only eat because i know it is time to do so.

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

i am doing really well. thanks for asking. swelling has all gone down. i was starving this week and when i called the doctor they told me that i could go ahead into the mushy stage. so, i've been eating normal foods like vienna sausages (i even had some chicken and it went down fine) and mashed potatoes. i have lost between 10 and 15 pounds so far. i am not weighing myself again for another week because i know a lot of it is Fluid. i start curves again tomorrow. (well maybe, i think i may be coming down with strept throat). be prepared..it is very hard not drinking after you eat. well, not very hard, it is more of a problem trying to remember not to drink. i try to eat something that is a little more moist for my last bite and then i brush my teeth or something. it is hard getting all of your liquids in because you eat...then you can't drink...then you aren't hungry so you forget to eat and drink until you are hungry again..and then you can't drink again (at least that is they way that it has been for me). well mommathang, it sounds like things are going along great for you. i didn't have to do the pre-op diet, good luck on that. i've already "cheated" on this diet (it was time for my monthlies and i DIE for sweets then and only then). so i gave in, but it's not a big deal to me, because this is a lifestyle. anyways, i feel like i'm rambling a bit (when i'm sick i do that). hope everyone else is doing well. lindata, your op date will be here before you know it.
  17. i can't believe it. i called my doctor's office about a pain on my left side that i am having. while i have the lady on the phone i mention to her that i am really hungry and i am having trouble with my calories due to the fact that i am not staying full. she said....wait for it....go ahead and move into the mushy stage.:faint: i was like "really":whoo:. so, i'm cleared to begin eating mush foods today. she said it is unusual for someone to have their appetite back this early, but it is not unheard of. she said that most people don't get hungry until 4-6 weeks. WHAT..I WISH THAT WAS ME!!! i'm having hunger pains that are driving me crazy. yogurt & vienna sausages here i come!!!!!:hungry: i'm scared that this means my band is not working. :paranoiddoes anyone have any thoughts?

I need to get into the sack....

i'm starting to think it is nuts too. it is actually 500 to 800 calories in the beginning. it is very hard to follow that when i am actually blending up real food. i have 200 calories for Breakfast and 200 for lunch, then i usually have 300-400 for dinner.

    5 Days Post OP....Getting Hungry!

are you on strictly clear fluids or full liquids. my doc's rule is if it goes through a straw i can have it. there seems to be a lot of variation from doctor to doctor regarding diet, however. if you are on full liquids, on day 5, i began to puree Soups and Beans, etc. i put a can of healthy choice chicken enchilada Soup in a food processor until it was the consistency of a milkshake and added a little cheese for added protien. it was very filling. if you are not to this stage and are on Clear Liquids only, i would call your doctor and ask what they suggest.

    Where is your port placement?

mine is located slightly on the right, midway between my belly button and my breast.
  21. i'm eating pureed foods during my liquid stage, because my doc has the whole "if it fits through a straw rule". i called my doc because i was concerned about the same thing and she said that the quantity doesn't matter it is the calories. when i go to mushies and i can actually eat meatloaf not pureed then it may be different.

    Favorite Liquids and Mushies

well, i am on full liquids and i am having trouble finding foods that have adequate Protein, eating them 3 times a day and staying between 500 to 800 calories. my favorite thing so far was a can of great northern Beans cooked with a slice of bacon and a little salt (remove the bacon of course), then i "processed" the beans until they were the consistency of a milk shake. it was VERY good, i ate the whole can and didn't mind it becuase of the fact that i felt i needed the protein. also, the healthy choice chicken tortilla Soup blended with cheddar cheese is really good. i need ideas for Breakfast. the carnation instant breakfast thing isn't helping me a whole lot.

    pneumonia and lapband

i was diagnosed with pneumnonia twice in a 6 month period last year before i had my band, and i am only 25. if you have acid reflux that is bad it can cause this problem. of course, the acid reflux would have to be pretty unbearable to be at this point.

I need to get into the sack....

i am not quite to the mushies, but i have been eating thick liquids. i called my doctor yesterday because i could eat a whole can of Soup (chicken tortilla) very easily. my doctor said that as long as i do not consume over 800 calories that i can eat the whole can. they told me that at this point portion does not matter and that i will begin to feel less full with the food, and i have to figure out what i can eat and feel satiety without exceeding my calories (i have a pretty lenient food plan anyways). last night, i ate an entire 8 oz. can of great northern Beans pureed to the point of looking like a milk shake. (i flavored it with bacon and boy was it gggoooooddddd). i went over yesterday (i had no idea gatorade and stuff added up so quickly). today, however, i can actually feel my band (morning tightness i think) and i am watching it.

    Short Bandsters

i'm 5'2' and i'm just getting started. my goal on my ticker is too low. my doc told me that if i get under 120 i will look unhealthy. he said my ideal weight will be somewhere between 120 & 130 and i will just have to decide which one i am happiest with.
