1. I think I'll be taking my own sleep wear like pajamas because I don't feel comfy at all walking around a hospital in a hospital gown ewes lol I'm so excited

I did that too but you'll have catheter/folly the first day and then an IV the whole time you're there so you own clothes can be tricky. I did wear pajama shorts after my folly came out.

I mean I'll wear short sleeves.. And like Lon pajama pants but the first day I guess I'll have to wear a gown but once that catheter is out .. I'm changing lol

  2.
My doc and nut says insurance goes by starting weight. Have you been losing since February or did you start the process 19 lbs too little? It would be a shame to have to gain 19 pounds just to qualify. Since you've been in the process for so long maybe submit the paperwork and cross your fingers? Try an appeal if denied. You can always try to gain if you have no other choice.

The insurance process is so frustrating. Every company has different rules. My insurance requires two co-morbidities that can't be controlled with medication or 40 BMI. The worst part is you have to jump through all kinds of hoops and then they can still deny coverage. I think they brainstorm ways to deny coverage. I have to show a weight loss for six months (10 pounds) with no gains. If I show a gain, I have to start the six months over. The RN says don't go below 35. The NUT says follow a 1200 calorie plan. I have to walk this fine line for 4 1/2 more months.

We shouldn't have to play these silly games with our health.

Whatever happens good luck. Please keep us posted.

I'm guessing sigh of relief for me. My bmi is 47. Diabetic hypertension and high cholesterol.... My insurance I have no idea how it goes.. I'm just waiting on my date .. ???????????? my surgeon just had to call the or so happy

  3. Chapstick Chapstick Chapstick.

I took tons of stuff, but didn't need most of it. Toothbrush, hair brush, did I say Chapstick? Maybe some clothes to wear after you catheter out and something comfy to wear home.

I think I'll be taking my own sleep wear like pajamas because I don't feel comfy at all walking around a hospital in a hospital gown ewes lol I'm so excited

  4. I'm 250lbs.. 5'1, bmi of 47. High cholesterol, diabetic ( with no medications ) hypertension.. I swear it's not cool. I don't like any of this.. Horrible back pains, and shortness of breath. All his drains me out my goodness lol well i should be having surgery at the end of the month., it's so real now. Like it's insane to me that this is all happening so quick so exciting :)

  5. It's not common to have blood clots after RNY. I never had one and know a lot of people don't get them if you follow what the doc says. When you are in the hospital you have to walk to avoid clots and to pass gas. And when you are laying down in the bed make sure you use compression socks cause they help with the blood flow. Also when you are in a lot of pain the last thing you worry about is taking a bath and all you want to do is get out of the hospital. At my hospital they gave us blankets...when I got home on my 4th I took a shower but while I was in the hospital, I couldn't have been bothered with it. I was in too much pain.

Aw ok... My heart rate was at 92 per minute I don't know if that's ok.. Super excited though to have the surgery so all these health issues can just go bye bye

  6. 9 days post op. used hospital gowns. Brought my own toiletries. Took one shower on third day. Ear plugs a must. Phone eyeglasses fan pillow. Favorite Protein shake mix. In fortunately back in hospital tonight due to possible blood clots and pneumonia. But I know I'm in good hands. It's 3 am and I'm still wide awake. Hope all goes well for you.

Yikes what's that pain like ? The blood clot pain ? I heard that's very common in the bypass

  7. I did take pjs but was comfortable in a gown cause I had an IV plus pain meds machine and I had a Jackson Pratt to drain right below my breast and having to wear my own pjs was impossible. I also used the disposable underwear they gave me and they also gave me mouth wash which I barely used. The first 2 days I was there I couldn't drink anything cause I had a nose tube then 3rd day they had to check if the liquid would go down and I had to drink some crappy stuff which finally made me pass gas and crap. And then I was able to drink Soup and Water which was difficult to get it down and then 4th day in the afternoon I was discharged. I couldn't have showered with the drainage and stitches on me. So I don't know how people showered in that condition.

Yikes loll.. Every single day I must shower 2 times a day.. So I have to shower there as well I pla. On walking as much as possible so I won't get clots. Those are very dangerous. Even when I go home I'll walk 2 times a day for 30 minutes each

  8.
I was in for 2 days, and I don't remember really reading much of anything, or using a tablet. If I wasn't walking or sleeping, I had visitors, and my husband kept me company. I brought my own toiletries, and I did take a shower there. Also, I am not a fan of hospital socks, so slippers for sure.

Yes me too. I'm real picky with all that stuff I prefer taking my own personal everything

  9.
I took my own pajamas; I absolutely hate hospital gowns. I got some pretty interesting looks (& a lot of smiles) while walking the halls in my yellow t-shirt and fuzzy, very brightly colored M & M pajama bottoms! :P

You'll want to take your phone and/or tablet, charger, reading materials, toothbrush/toothpaste, hairbrush, underwear, etc. Wear something loose and comfortable to the hospital and you can just wear that home. That way you won't need to pack extra clothes. I brought my own slippers, too.

We have the same thinking lol I don't want to be wearing the gowns all the time during my stay. I'll be taking my own everything.

  10. Don't forget chargers. I also took an extension cord. It was helpful because my chair wasn't even close to the outlet. I wore hospital gowns while there until my departure date. Be prepared because you may start your period after surgery.

I was in the hospital for 5 days. The showers were the best thing ever. Good luck! : )

Lol, I have my period right now. I'm getting surgery hopefully end of June.. Or early July.

  11. Hello everyone. I started the process to have wls about six months ago.I didn't have any support from my friends or spouse so I gave up.however I realize that this is my life and I really want to be healthy.I have an appointment on Monday to meet with my surgeon.I've made a decision not to tell anyone I'm having the surgery until right before. What do y'all think of this, advice please

I did the same thing. I didn't tell anyone in my family no one knows about my surgery except for my husband, my mother and siblings. Other than that no one else. It'll be a surprise. This is a major step and it's something very special. I didn't want anyone to ruin or steal my shine for myself. So I kept it to myself. I'll know when the time is right

  12. Lol, I have to shower it's a must I can't do a day without taking my 2'showers yuck. I always take my own things more because I have type sensitive skin so I use aveeno. I'll take my phone and iPad ( hope the hospital has wifi ) my own towel and blanket. I sleep with a specific blanket lol ( they better crank that ac all the way up ) I'm so existed my surgery is late June early July.. But they didn't put me on a pre op diet

  13. Tammie30, did you have WLS? If yes, which one, why and how has it been for you. I really want to hear from all sides of this.

Today is my final appt with my surgeon I'm going with sleeve because it's not so invasive like thr by pass and tht lap band just won't do justice for my goal. But from friends their outcomes have been outstanding and they look AMAZING !

  14. It's ok to feel what you're feeling. I have my final appt with my surgeon this Wednesday .. The 4th it was a quick journey in happy to say.. Still waiting on my approval .. Thr papers haven't even been submitted but I'm being positive and all that good stuff.. Praying on it. I have a bmi of 46.7 247 lbs, hypertension, pre diabetic, high cholesterol, prior depressant ( at times I still get depressed ) elevated thyroid ( abnormal ) high triglycerides .. Thankfully I'm not taking anything for any of it. I'm also 5'1 I live in Ny I have health First.. Let's see fingers crossed I get this approval becauSe I'm SOOO done being the " fat one " everywhere I go. I'm always the one standing out because I'm the big girl

  15.
This is definitely an exciting time!! This is where they explain to you the entire process, they explain to you what options you have, and basically who will be doing what. What happens here will depend on what procedure you select. This is the best time to get all of your questions answered...what I did was I wrote down all the questions I could think of, because you'll definitely forget something and then remember it as you're heading home from your appointment. Y may want to bring something with you to take notes...if your initial appointment was anything like mine, you'll be given a whole lot of info!!

I'm beyond excited that this just over somewhat.. It's never truly over .. The psych Eval went absolutely amazing ☺️ That's what I was most worried of.. I'm going the gastric sleeve.. But then again like I wanna know more about the bypass as well.. Let's see what my surgeon suggest. Super excited thank god I'll have my mom with me :)
