Anyone else with me?

I'm still in the early stages, as I still have 5 more PCP visits as well as my preop testing, but things will definitely start accelerating next week as those tests begin.

I'm excited about what lies ahead, but a little nervous as well. My BMI is flirting with 40, and I do have comorbidities, but I'm afraid of insurance rejection. Still, though, I'm going to push forward and see what happens. I have big plans for myself post-surgery and can't wait to see where I am a year from now!
Good luck with all that. I'm at my last visit on the 27th after that I have my surgeon appt which is Jund 4th after that submission for approval super scared about that

gDo you ladies think that having elevated thyroid and triglycerides will decrease my chances of being approved for the surgery ??????
No, most all of us have elevated triglycerides and the surgery will resolve that. Some insurance companies want that as one of their risk factors and help us qualify for the surgery. You will be sent for testing prior to approval or during... They will check your heart, lungs, your stomach for h pylori, psych eval and nutritionist. If you have any risk factors for surgery like a heart issue, you will be sent for a stress test. At least that's what they did with me. Don't worry just move forward and go to your surgery center and ask for help, your coordinator is usually the one who eases all your worries and us here too. Good luck.

Thank you so much. I've done all the appointments I just have the psych Eval, and the pcp follow up all this week coming. Then my second visit with my surgeon June4th. I have a bmi of 47. Weigh 253lbs ...
Do you think I'll be approved ?Hi guys, i have a quick question and I will keep it short to save you time. Does anyone have hypothyroid and chose to get the bypass? I was on my path to the r n y and suddenly got diagnosed with hypothyroid which is horrible (slow thyroid). Makes you feel weak, can't lose weight, super fatigued, brain fog, joint pain, headaches and hair loss and dry skin. Oh Joy! I'm also insulin dependent diabetic. Icing on cake here.... So I'm wondering will I have a double dose of what everyone else expects while recovering from r n y surgery? Any advice is welcomed as I have become you tube obsessed and online research gonna make me bonkers. Thanks in advance.
Yes mere. I have high thyroid .. Whatever that is. I just haven't been scheduled for surgery yet. This is my last month for the journey and I meet w the surgeon June 4.. Super excited
If you have high thyroid then you have HYPERthyroid.
Yes, I don't see why not... SOme docs say that after your surgery maybe your thyroid can resolve itself. It's not a guarantee and I am no doctor but I do read like a mad woman and research everything. If you have hyperthyroid that means you have a super fast metabolism and maybe you will lose weight. Do research it, it's called graves disease, my husband was diagnosed with it (hyperthyroid) and I have the hypothyroid (slow thyroid) maybe opposites do attract. Ask your doc all the questions and then go home and look it up. Take good care of yourself as hyper or hypo affects all of your cells, your entire body and brain. Good luck. I am here for you if you need.

But heck there's always a little preoccupation ... What do you think .. I have Healt First. My BMI is at 47.. I weigh 253.. I gained maybe 10 lbs since I started in December..
I think you will be just fine. I'm from NY and I work at a hospital. I tend to see a lot of patients that come in the morning for various surgeries including sleeve, lapband, and bypass. I've also seen many people with Health First and they all have approvals. Just remember, it's never set in stone if your insurance denies you. Your surgeon and his billing/precertification team just have to have the right push to fight for you. It could take a couple times but more likely than not the insurance will end up paying for it as long as you go through all their ridiculous requirements. As long as you did everything you were supposed to you will be fine! Also remember it benefits your insurance company as well. If you have a surgery to assist you with losing weight it also prevents you from other serious chronic conditions. This means that your insurance company would have to pay more in the long run if you didn't lose weight. They may be tough but they def aren't stupid and insurance companies love to save every penny they can get.

So you think I'll be approved ???

Thank you

I called the nurse and she got back to me right away. She said that the fold is very common and it almost looks like a "second navel".

She said that it flatten out, and as angel face (thank youuu!!) suggested, she recommends getting an abdominal binder for extra support to relieve some of that pressure.

She also said that crying is normal bc there a lot of shifts in hormones (I'm kinda already a cry baby lol)

I feel so relieved now, and am so thankful for this site with people who have or are experiencing similar things... It is just wonderful!!
You for this and you will look fab!!!!! Prayers for you in your recovery

I started my two week pre-op liquid diet today. It is kind of weird but I am looking forward to this two weeks, because now it feels real...this is really, finally going to happen! I sometimes worry about all the things that I have read that could go wrong, but I am truly trying to focus on all the things that will be good after, and the opportunity to really live my life without having to always worry about what my weight will and will not allow me to do. For the first time in years...I am looking to the future with optimism. June 6th here I come.
[/QUOI sometimes think the same way as well.. Just that you were already approved, I'm in tht waiting game. Plus my papers haven't been submitted yet. I'm almost done I have my psych Eval next week and that has me worried because you never know what to expect from those people... But I'm going with my head held high, positive, and confident!!!!! God is on my side ????????????
