    Surprise BFP

Congratulations and I will keep you in my prayers.

    So Cold!

I have had to wear fleece leggings under my pants daily since surgery and still want a blanket when I am sitting around the house . I will take cold over fat but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Check your local walmart for fleece leggings. Ours has had them for a while and they are $9 a pair and by far the best money I have spent in a long time.

    Excited for the gym!

I never thought I would ever say this, but I am excited to join the gym this morning!! I am just over 3 weeks post op and down over 25 pounds just cleared to start using the treadmill. I haven't looked forward to exercise in years. I am joining with just a monthly membership because I prefer to exercise outside once it thaws (which will probably be May here ). My hubby is joining with me which is fabulous! My weight loss is spurring him to be healthier also. WLS is impacting my entire family in a very positive way!

    Excited for the gym!

Today was my 3rd workout and I am really enjoying it! I have dropped 5 pounds in 3 days and I will take that any day. I am also sleeping better at night which hasn't happened in years! I also found out my gym has an aqua massage table and that is definitely going to have to be tried. If I like it I can pay $25/ month for unlimited access to it. The gym lady says I could even use it 3 times a day if I want to and if it isn't booked.

    Someone please help me!

I haven't found many protein mixes that I do like. Even some of the favorites on the board weren't doing it for me. The only one I love and look forward to is Syntrax peanut butter cookie! I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk or skim milk and it actually tastes like a peanut butter cookie. Nashua Nutrition website offers the widest selection of samples I have found yet. I highly recommend ordering samples and trying them before committing to a large and expensive tub of protein powder that you might not enjoy.
  6. Congratulations! I am so happy you feel better and get to be home.
  7. I am so glad you are home and feeling better! I hope the results are what you want. I am going to schedule my reduction once I have maintained my weight for 1 year. I am interested to hear how everything goes for you.
  8. I am 3 weeks post op and my nutritionist allows up to 1/2 cup per meal. However, I can barely get 1/4 cup down in a sitting which requires me to eat 6 times a day. I am still having a hard time eating more than 4 times a day, but I try everyday to get more meals and more protein in than the day before .

    Laser Hair Removal

I like the idea of trying different variations of hairless ness or patterns of hair through waxing and see what appeals to you most. Just for reference they can do a complete Brazilian with laser hair removal. Most Aestheticians will get pretty up close and personal if that is what you want.
  10. String cheese is one of my favorite on the go snacks! I also made up pounds of meatballs and freeze them. I can take out as many as I want and heat them up with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese on top. The world according to eggface website also has tons of great make ahead and freeze recipes. It is a great way to keep a choice of real food on hand in portion sizes appropriate for us. Great topic idea!! I can't wait to see what other ideas are shared!

    Food tastes SO good!

I am just moving to soft foods and I have had refried beans, string cheese, and tuna salad. None of these foods were things I ate occasionally pre op but they weren't favorites or must haves. Now they taste absolutely amazing! I was sleeved on 11/11. I can't wait to expand my diet further and eat something tastier than protein shakes. Mentally I am having a little difficulty reconciling the amount of food I can eat with how much I mentally want to eat. I am listening to my stomach and telling my head too bad and it needs to relearn food and nutrition! It will eventually listen

    Winter Exercise

I love all of the exercise videos available on YouTube. Also Zumba on the Xbox is fun. I am also taking cross country ski lessons and snow shoe lessons this winter with my kids. It snows a LOT up here so I might as well find someway to use it!

    Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot.

I use a heating pad regularly for apaches and pains and also used it in the hospital post op. I never registered anywhere near a slightly elevated temperature. The nurses actually commented on what a good idea it was to bring with me. My suggestion is to bring it, but talk to the nurse before using it to make sure there are no concerns.

    BEST protein drink EVER!

I love the Syntrax peanut butter cookie mix. I will have to try out the one you suggest. It would be nice to have 2 favorites to choose from! Thank you for sharing!
  15. I brought lots of things. The only things I used were: Extension cord Phone charger Heating pad Phone Toothbrush & toothpaste Biotine mouthwash Hairbrush (I have extremely long hair) Clean underwear And Chapstick that is it. I wore the same clothes home that I came to the hospital in. I stayed in the hospital gown and the hospital slipper socks. Pack light because you honestly won't need much.

    Eating salads again

I am so missing my salads right now. I was told it wouldn't be an option until at least 6 months post op.

    Recipe Frenzy

My surgeons office recommends www.sparkspeople.com for recipes. You can customize your search to meet your dietary needs. I haven't had a chance to really explore it much yet.

    Feeling disappointed and unsure

Research bypass just as thoroughly as you did the sleeve. When you meet with the surgeon, you will be well informed about both choices. This will allow you to have a meaningful conversation about both choices and make an informed decision. Good luck finding the surgery that meets your needs.
  19. Congratulations and good luck!

    I DID IT!

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench!
  21. I make 2 separate meals- mine & theirs. I have modified what I make for the family and they are eating healthier since my diet has changed. My protein heavily relies on milk and dairy products and my son is allergic to milk protein. Unfortunately, the way I prepare my food and the rest of the family's will always remain separate.

A new me in 15 hours!

Good luck tomorrow! Chug as much water as you can while you can! I miss gulping water down. We will see you again post op! Prayers are coming your way for a safe and easy journey.

    Pain

I have had gallbladder surgery, appendix surgery, birthed 2 8#+ babies, had over 30 steroid injections into my spine, and have 4 discs completely eroded in my lumbar spine resulting in 2 nerves trapped between 2 bones that constantly rub on the nerves and I woke up from my sleeve surgery in major pain. I cried for the first 2 hours in recovery and couldn't get the pain under control for a long time. All of my devious surgeries I woke up in tolerable condition. The sleeve surgery was nothing like my other surgeries. Once they finally got the pain controlled it stayed controlled from then on. Hopefully they start you on a good pain control regimine and you don't experience any of that.
  24. I had my 3 week post op check yesterday and I was told to wait until 6 weeks post op too I can't wait to be able to swim again. It is worth having a discussion with your surgeons office to see what their recommendation is.

One week to go...and freaking out!

It is difficult after surgery working on changing your thought patterns. The surgery helps because I physically don't feel hunger , but my mind thinks I am always hungry. I don't know how many times a day I have to tell myself no and redirect to protein food source if I feel I really need to eat something. It will take work and effort but if can be done. The mental work and disipline are hard work , but we can overcome our bad habits.
