  1. I just did my final weigh in last Tuesday. Found out I was approved yesterday (Monday) . The scheduler called today to say they have a cancellation MONDAY! I took it. For once I am just jumping in.
  2. Went for my final 6 month supervised diet appt on Tuesday. I called the insurance to be sure they had everything they needed today (monday) I am already approved. The letter went out at 3:15 today.
  3. My out of pocket maximum for the year is 8500.00 and somehow I have met it. I may never have disposable income again!
  4. I just had my 6th and final weigh in. During this time I had to stay at the exact same weight as my BMI is 40.1. My surgeon said he thinks the insurance just wants people to get frustrated and drop out.
  5. Benny had confidence in her and she grew to have confidence in herself
  6. it could be cellulitis. probably a good idea to call your surgeon or your PCP.
  7. I have CA BLue Shield through my employer. I am in the last 3 days of my 6 month supervised diet. I have completed all of the tests. I am battling BS about one test that my surgeon required and BS does not want to pay for because they say that I did not have pre approval for tests required for Barbaric Surgery. I believe once I am approved they will pay. We submit Wednesday for approval. I will post when/if I am approved .
  8. She started a go fund me account so she could really make it on the strip
  9. No thoughts or suggestions but Nutribullet is on sale at Macy's and they have a coupon for an additional 15% off.
  10. She danced and danced until she encountered a huge, huge, HUGE crack in the sidewalk
  11. There has been so much going on that it seems like obstacles and stressors keep jumping out at me. That said, no matter what - the time goes by so I might as well be working toward surgery. Just a few more days before the end of my six months. @@sunnkistme lucky u......did the 6 months go fast? 12. And she was allergic to the sugar alcohols anyway.
  13. She knew the chocolates were but an obstacle
  14. What a great question. I would think there would be much better chance to find a surgeon if your therapist and psychiatrist are on board. Would they give their OK before you start your surgeon search?
  15. I have 12 more days to go until the end of my six months of supervised diet. All of my tests are out of the way and we can submit for approval after my next visit. I am just at 40 BMI and, other than arthritis, have no co morbidities so it might be challenging to get approval. I am so worried as my out of pocket this year was 8500.00. I can not afford to do this again next year. My surgeon is on notice that time is a big issue for me since we change plans 12/1/14. Have you told any of your friends or family yet? I am telling very few people and so far the two I was most worried about have been fantastic.
  16. I help my parents out a lot -all of the other sibs are out of state or not available - I have not heard anyone describe the way I anticipate my mom reacting better. " She did not want anything to happen that might disturb my caregiving.." That is exactly why I do not want to address the issue with my mom. My daughter and son in law have promised me they will run interference for me so I do not have to tell her. I dread the whole drama. As she has gotten older she has become increasingly more self focused and less willing to listen to the opinion of others. That said, I love her dearly but do get tired.
  17. Thanks for this post. Exactly the encouragement I needed.
  18. Two of my tests came back as not covered. (3000.00) I phoned the insurance and asked them why, if the tests were required for surgery, were they not covered? I was told that I needed approval for pre-surgery tests. I phoned my surgeon's insurance coordinator who contacted BCBS. I am not sure what she did but all of the tests have been paid now - as were the two that were denied as non-covered.
  19. If your company has fewer than 50 employees it does not have to follow FMLA laws. Most companies still allow for time off but be sure. My small company will allow up to 12 weeks off and our handbook allows for unpaid leaves of absence, but they are not required to. We just have benefit time not sick/vacation. I have been saving my time and have enough to take plenty of time. I think I am going to take 2 full weeks and then go back 1/2 time for 2 or three more weeks.
  20. I would check again. I have never heard of it being that easy. You can ask that they send or e-mail you a copy of their requirements. Hopefully it will be that easy!
  21. Ohhh.. I see now. I was just looking at trains with actual stations instead of stops within driving distance of your town. Not knowing the area. The one I looked at was on the CA Zephyr line which does change to busses in Sacramento and Bakersfield. Not having to change to busses makes a huge difference.
  22. I checked the route.. and it is not all train. You have to move from the train to busses two times. There is no place to take a shower. I leave my bag in the overhead and take my valuables with me when I go to other cars. There is also no checked baggage for one part of the route. You might consider asking for a prescription for a few Valium and hop on a plane . If you search Kayak and other sites it might be affordable. I do not mind the train and have learned to enjoy it but... I would be concerned about clots when sitting for 40 hours on the train.
  23. I would request assistance at ticketing. In the winter I check my bag as I have to take more clothing. They take it at the check in and it disappears into the bowels of the train. There is also an overhead rack that you would need assistance to access so soon after surgery. How long is the trip from your location? That might be a concern. You don't fly? There are also discounts occasionally offered through Amtrak online.
  24. You want to check for a BCBS center for excellence. If you call the 800 number or check on line you can find one.
  25. I have taken the train from California to Colorado a few times. I never pay the fortune they want for a sleeper car so I plan for comfort. I always take a cooler with Snacks and a sandwich, (nice to not have to worry about the food since you'll be on liquids). I take a light throw and a small pillow. Not sure if you will be on overnight or not. You might consider reserving a lower level disabled seat since climbing the stairs to the upper level might be challenging on your trip home. The restrooms are on the lower level. The car attendant can get you anything you need from the snack car, just be sure to bring plenty of bottled Water and no worries. I generally feel safe on the train. That said I am not careless with my belongings. It is a bit challenging to get good sleep. But I do love the view and not driving.
