  1. You could try 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup... maybe just a tablespoon to start.
  2. Just cut back on your initial serving so you can more accurately track.

    Help!

I use "smooth move". Tea. It takes about 12 - 16 hours to work I plan where I will be when it starts working. You can get it at health food stores even at some grocery stores.

    Fatigue

There is a huge improvement from week to week. Looking back at 6 weeks out - I can not believe how tired I was. It gets way better in a couple of weeks.
  5. My surgeons office submitted to BC/BS PPO for approval on Thursday (probably early Friday as my final visit of the 6 month supervised diet was at 4:00 PM). I called the following Monday to check and found out I was approved and I was. The surgeons office called Tuesday to see if I could be ready for the procedure the following Monday. OMG!!! My surgeon only had me on Clear liquids the day before since I was just getting sleeved and not bypass. From the moment I was approved everything has gone so fast and fallen right into place. 5 1/2 weeks later and I am down 28 pounds from my highest weight. Good Luck!

    Any Ideas ?

And, at the hospital you are given tons of IV liquids so many do not experience weight loss during the 1st week to ten days. I am just shy of six weeks and down 24 pounds.

    Any Ideas ?

How much water/liquid? I had to do herbal teas as Water made me nauseous. DId your surgeon advise taking the Vitamins this soon.? My surgeon was adamant about limiting physical activity during the first week like maybe walking 1/2 a block and making sure I was with someone.

    What happens if...

Just a thought on liquids; I could not tolerate Water. I did great with hot herbal teas. I still struggle with water but it does not make me as nauseous as it did in the beginning.
  9. I am using smooth move tea. I try to plan as it takes 12 - 15 hours to work and when it works, it really works!

    Post Op Pain

I was in some pain for about three days but it was manageable. I am struggling to find something to control my arthritis pain. Ibuprofen was a wonder drug but I definitely can not take it now. I took one quarter of the regular dose of the liquid painkiller that I left the hospital with just so could move around in the morning. Still waiting on my insurance to approve Celebrex, which is supposed to be easier on your stomach than ibuprofen. We'll see if it works.
  11. Probably a good idea to call your surgeon just in case it is not constipation. I use "Smooth Move" tea. I get it at the health food store or even the grocery. It works in about 12 hours for me and works so well I try to plan where I am around that time.
  12. It might be the type of shake you are using. Almost any powdered shake except unjury goes right through me and some pre-mixed do not work. I can use premier Protein vanilla premixed, but because the reaction can be so bad I am afraid to try any others.

    Mixing medications?

You can call the pharmacist to double check. It is my understanding that they are often prescribed together to avoid the constipation caused by the codeine.

I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me

I constantly struggle with motivation. Something I think I might try for TV watching: My mom had one of those huge exercise balls and would just sit and bounce when commercials came on. She has many physical ailments but could do this one thing. She said it made her feel much stronger (good core strength) I do believe I need to try it.
  15. Remember that you have a great heart. It is my understanding that the vagal nerve center controls sooo many functions of your body. A pacemaker is not the worst thing in the world if this issue does not resolve. I am glad you are in the hospital where you can get lots of support and monitoring. Sending good energy your way.
  16. Fantastic. Wishing you an easy time of it and an awesomely quick recovery
  17. I just had surgery November 3rd. I took very few things and used even fewer. Phone and charger. I like the idea of the extension cord. I had to charge my phone the day after surgery and did not want to bother a nurse to plug my phone in. The only available outlet took a bit of bending to plug and unplug. I used lip balm. Toothpaste and a tooth brush. I took a sponge bath day two and had to use hospital soap, yuck, wipes or wash would be good. That's it....I did not need or use another thing. I wore loose comfortable clothes to the hospital and just wore them home.
  18. I am just a couple of weeks out from surgery. Beyond the first day I have not had a problem with leaking. A surprisingly wonderful side effect. I have no idea why I am not leaking anymore but am thrilled.
  19. Today may be a tough day. I know it is soooo hard. I just wanted to cry. "Why can't I just smoke?". It does get better and if you give in today it will be just as painful tomorrow. You will still be a smoker and you will still be overweight. Nothing changes without doing the fought stuff. The only words of wisdom. Don't smoke now. Don't stop by to visit your friend that smokes, don't go by the cigarette shop for just one. It is absolutely miserable but it does get better. I quit after 30 year of smoking up to a pack a day. I am so glad I finally did. Hang tough girlfriend.

    Diet Cheating!

I know that you, like me, must have wanted this surgery desperately. What you are doing now has way more to do with your need for counseling and support than with hunger. I know that it is very hard to stay on track. My third day out my friend made bacon. I wanted to lick it. Just one time. It had nothing to do with hunger, pure craving. You can not see what is happening on the inside of your body. It is pretty scary to think of the damage that might be happening that you are not feeling. See if there is some way to get to a counselor to discuss the apparent addiction to food.
  21. Oh dear, I am 8 days out. Feeling great. Water (which I drank tons of before VSG), makes me nauseous and as soon as I realized the problem I switched to herbal teas. I had not been told about not drinking hot liquids. Of course I assumed that since they served me hot broth in the hospital it would be ok. I mentioned the tea to my surgeon yesterday and he did not say anything. Now I am worried.
  22. I was sleeved November 3rd. When I initially talked to my Dr. about time off, my plan was to go back part time after two weeks and then full time at week 3 or 4. Today he said I need at least 3 full weeks off! I am doing great and feel like I would be OK with part time.

Here we go....Surgery in 2 days.

I am on day 6 since sleeve and feeling much the same way about this not working. I am able to drink as much as I want without feeling any restrictions. Water makes me nauseous so I have a variety of herbal teas and am sure to drink 8 cups each day. I am afraid to drink Protein shakes since I do not feel any restriction.

    First week post-surgery

I was sleeved Monday too and things went pretty well except big problems with nausea. My nursing team was great at encouraging me to use nausea and pain meds. Went home late Tuesday and pretty much stayed down Wednesday and Thursday. The minute I got home I realized Water was making me nauseous. I switched to herbal teas and all forms of nausea went away. I was up and around for 4 hours today and came home exhausted. I have an empty hungry feeling too. ONe thing that helped in unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein. I can start full liquids Monday so I was sure to get and assortment of Soups at the store today. Only one dose painkiller today.

    New Sleever

I like hearing when it is going so great for someone. So often people only write about the bad stuff.
