  1. You guys have all done so well to lose that must in such a short time

    Well done!!!!

I lost a total of 34kgs it took me 5 months

But I was a low weight sleeved so am at goal at this Weight

I have to tell you guys I can eat more and can eat and drink anything and can gain weight if not careful

So ride out the time of not being hungry and not being able to eat certain foods lose as much as you can as the struggle will return I just want to be honest it's not a 100% fix

It's a tool for now to change your mindset then it's up to you!!!!

  2. Oh no that's no fun when your overfull

I find it hard to judge when I've had enough still. I think for me going forward il be eating off my partners plate when going out too or just ordering a entree for a main.

    Sent from my iPhone

It's 15months for me and I still eat off my partners plate or kids plates when we eat out we save heaps on h'days eating out!! Love it!!

  3. Hi guys

I know the feelings of the stalls that you guys are having you start thinking crap how could I not lose weight I have barley eaten this week or oh no this is not going to work for me what have I done to myself was it a waste!! Etc I can't explain the body but I promise you it does come off!!

I had a few stalls and bad food days but it all still has dropped off!!! It will happen to you all as well I had and still have days I eat more and can fit more I get scared still but then I have days I can't fit much in so its balancing it out for me.

This is the best weight loss tool ever ????

  4. Thanks for sharing that with us Bella. Its good to see there is light at the end of the tunnel. Tell is diarrhea a constant companion after the sleeve. I can relate to the 'head wanting more than the stomach can take part as i am struggling to stay on the pureed food stage'.

Sent from my SM-G900I using the BariatricPal App

At least twice a month I eat something that doesn't agree with me and I go running to the little girls room.........I still haven't worked out what it is! I have never vomited which is good I eat till I'm way to full these days but been lucky I must still stop in time!!

I still have trouble dishing up my plate sometimes I still put double what I could fit in my tummy.....it's my mind wanting more!

I struggled with the puréed stage I wanted real food.........I was meant to go like 8 weeks.........I lasted 4 then I just started eating normal food just very small amounts and chewed the crap out of it......Life got better and the cravings stopped because nothing was off limits........ Now I can eat anything but I never eat much......it's funny because I know I can have it I don't usually have it I use to eat chocolate biscuits for Breakfast that habit is gone as well......I just don't feel to do it anymore

It gets easier and it's worth it ????

  5. Hi guys

Congratulations you made it to the other side now the fun starts!!

These few weeks are the hardest as your head will still want the big meals you were use to having but the stomach can't take it.....my mouth would Water every food ad on TV.....it drove me crazy! But it passes I promise and the scales will drop it will happen! I had days of eating shit all day long and thought it's not gonna work......but it did work as the amounts felt like a lot but they were nothing compared to before the sleeve.....I'm now 1 year and 2months sleeved it's been the best year of my life I wish I did this sooner!!

    35kgs gone!!!

A year out I can still only eat about a cup of food somedays and other days less in one sitting........ But I can eat often it clears quickly so I can still gain if I'm not careful.......I don't drink with meals ever and have not had soft drink since preop my reflux stopped when I gave up diet coke! Haven't had it since!

I don't exercise at all which is really bad!!! I need to pull my finger out........My taste buds have changed i know eat salads and vegetable I would never touch before!!

You all have made the right choice this is going to change your quality of life ????????????

  6. So Im booked for Tues 29th March. Hope this is the right decision.

It will be the best thing you ever do for yourself!!

Example I had party's all weekend I'm talking like 5 and I ate at them had cake, wine bbq, what ever was on offer!! I didn't put on any weight this morning I'm actually 600 grams Lighter than Friday's weigh in!!!

It will change your life the 1st month is hard really hard the food cravings I just wanted to eat a Big Mac so bad but you can't, it all goes away and the fat will start to full off fast!!!

It's so worth it I'm one year out now

  7. Hi Bella is it because everyone else who has had the sleeve is now too busy getting on with their lives. I hope so, one of my bigger concerns was that as this is still a relatively new procedure there isnt any long-term data on its effect on people. But in the good surgeons we trust.

Yes I sure hope that is the case!!! There are some lovely people on her hopefully they check back in

I wish all you newbies the best it's the best thing I ever did for myself

  8. Hi all. Quick introduction. 48yo male 160kg from Dandenong North. Just getting approval for super release to cover shortfall in insurance for surgery with Ray McHenry.

Have dietitian and councillor appointments for a gastric sleeve opp to go.

I realise I have to do this and am quite stoic about it all although I have concerns about reflux and deep vein thrombosis. Also thanks all for sharing your stories as knowing what is to come makes it that much easier.

    Hi kiwi

My reflux is totally gone it's like he cut that part out of me! I had it really bad and have not had it once since

    It's now been a year!!

  9. Hi! I'm new to this site & so excited to finally find some Aussies!!!!

I have had a lap band done by Chris Hensmann in 2011 & am now contemplating bypass surgery.

I would really like to meet a few people that may live nearby in eastern Melbourne that have had either revision surgery or straight bypass surgery. I don't know where to start!!!!

Hopefully someone on here mayb able to help?

    Thanks ????

    Hi Lyn

I have known a few people with lap bands they appear to fail over time and they regain the weight I think the sleeve is similar as I can eat double what I could a year ago and can gain if I have a big one still

I don't have any advice on bypass sorry Hun I haven't been there I know the Americans are big on that procedure Good luck with what you decide ????

  10. Hi Bella,

I was given my date last week, 23rd of March! So I have plenty of time to prep.

At the time of writing this I was just waiting on my next appointment with the surgery, but aside from that I had jumped through all of the hoops.

Having a date certainly makes it feel more real![/quote

Yay having a date certainly makes it very real I am almost at my 1 year anniversary so this time last year it's was all I was thinking about!!! Time goes so fast the date will be here before you know!!

I hate all the hoops we have to jump thru but it's so worth it to get it done!!

  11. Hello!

In new on board, and although I haven't read this entire thread, it appears you guys have a great support system. I'm in regional Vic so I think Melbourne is as local as I'm going to get!

I haven't be given a date yet, which I'm so eager for. I'm keen to prep and get myself going.

Hope to see some more posts here in the future.

    Hi brickett

It's gone very quiet in here I don't know where everyone has gone!

    Welcome tho!!

Have you got your doctor and health insurance sorted Hun??

You are making a great decision it's the best thing I ever did for me

    Bella

  12. Hi everyone. I'm new on here and from Sydney.

My sleeve surgery is on 20th October.

    Any advice?

    Hi there

My advice is it hurts a little in recovery more just uncomfortable and you still have food cravings but you just can't eat it the 1st 4 weeks is hard because it's only Fluid your allowed to have so you might get hungry but you can't satisfy if fully But once you can start mushy foof things look up

The best bit is the scale dropping super fast it makes it so worth it!!!

    I have lost 35kg in 6 months!!!! ????????????

  13. Hi Guys how is everyone going?? :D:D:D:D

Haven't been on for ages as I have had a not so great year in the health department and wasn't coping too well so have let everything slide for a while.

I have had surgery just over 2 weeks ago and am now getting back into everything and am starting back at work on Thursday so I can't wait!!!!

Nothing to do with the Sleeve all is going well with that.

    How is everyone going????

So many posts to catch up on when I get time :D

Hi Hun nice to hear from you!! So sorry to hear your health has not been good I hope your well on the way to mending Hun

It's been quiet without you and chez hope she is going well also

I am doing really well Hun have lost 32kgs feeling so much better only 4kgs away from goal it's a lot slower going now ????

  14. He wouldn't give me a fill :( he said I've been doing well.. 14kgs in 7 months he said was really good..

Slow loss is good loss but I am eating more than I was.. I've been eating really stupidly since Getting knocked back for the fill and now need to chill out a bit..

I can't complain though, I'm meeting new people and making friends... I feel good when I go out so its a very big difference.[/quote

    @@nerms that sucks

You must need a fill if you can eat more?? Is that how bands work??

    14kgs is fantastic!!

Just keep thinking about that party hun!! We are getting very close to the 60kg!! Lol

  15. @@Bellarose100 I can't wait...I wish someone would knock me out & wake me up on surgery day!!!!! I sent you a PM, I think !!! I'm not very good with technology!!!

A question I have for anyone who's reading this is who did you tell? and for those of you with children, did you tell your children? Mine are 13, 15. 17, 19, so I think they will figure out that something's going on !!!!! My youngest is a girl, and I don't really want her paranoid about her weight at this age, so I'm just not sure how to approach it, especially with her (plus, she's quite overweight...)

    Hi Hun

I choose to only tell my husband as the judgement about taking the easy way out I didn't want to hear it or be gossiped about so that was my choice

When I eat I don't care what they notice because I just say I don't eat much these days hence the weightless

My kids are young so I didn't have to tell them anything but if you don't want people to know I wouldn't tell the kids and if they notice your not eating or eating small amount just say it's a new diet your on lol

  16. Hi all

Well it's been a year and I'm not very good at documenting or blogging but I thought I'd let you all know that I have nearly reached my surgeons suggested goal weight only 2 kegs to go till I am 90kg - down from 135kg.

Have skin removal surgery - arms and stomach - booked with Dr Kevin Ho in Sydney on the 4th of Sept - am not sure how I feel about this new body yet but will keep trying to figure it out - good luck to you all

Wow well done Hun you have done so well!! ????????

  17. @@Bellarose100 Bahaha - I LOVE it !!!!! Well....I must confess, I haven't tried very hard since my original appt 9 months ago - I weighed 82 kg, so my BMI was probably 29/30, but I managed to put on 8kg - I can't believe I hit 90kg, that's ridiculous for me - I am living proof that it's what you put in your mouth - I do boxing, spin, pump classes, go to gym, 4-5 times a week and I still managed that weight gain :o Although, I had a sinus infection for 2 whole moths Mar-April, so couldn't go to gym then. My BMI is now 33, plus I'm 45 (for 25 more days...) and have yo-yo'd so many times and tried every diet under the sun, so I think (hope) I should be ok. I really just wish I had my surgeons appt earlier (it's Sep 21) as he is the one who will make the final decision.

I also have to wait for PHI, that's why I'm not booked in till Nov. Since then I have read & read & read, so I know it's not a magic pill (I've tried those - duromine was miraculous for 1 month....then didn't work ever again!!) I know it's a tool, but the fact that it's a permanent thing is what makes it so appealing to me. I am REALLY hoping that , along with the ghrelin reduction, my tastes will change, & I won't want chocolate, like so many sleevers I've read about!! chips are not a problem, only the evil Cadbury !!!! I'm going through Darebin Weight loss centre.

Yes Hun it's very easy to put the weight on and yes it's all about what you put in your mouth as I have not worked out for 2 weeks and I have still lost weight!! It's crazy! The sleeve is the best thing I have done for myself so thankful I can't eat much!!

I read about the girls in the U.S. Saying they don't get hungry don't crave this or that or how they're tummy doesn't like this food or that food, my experience was not like that after the surgery and my stomach settled I was able to eat all the same foods and was hungry as normal only change is I can't put much in at one time!!

Everyone's journey is different hope your appt goes well xx
