  1. The surgery went fine but how I feel after the surgery is not so fine. A lot of pain and nausea.
  2. Glad everything went so well for you! I am getting all of my stuff together for surgery later on today. I will be visiting a different hospital this morning to see my friend who is having her baby today!!!
  3. I got one at Bed Bath and Beyond and used my 20% coupon and the price wasn't terrible. I would have chosen a less expensive one, but my fiance picked it out and bought it......
  4. As I look through the forums and see peoples goal weights, I often wonder who people chose them. According to this website : http://www.calculator.net/ideal-weight-calculator.html My ideal weight is around 130 for my age and height but according to the US BMI formulation, it can be anywhere from 114 to 154. My goal weight is 150. A few years ago I got down to 159 and I liked the size I was. I actually felt that if I was much smaller I would just be too thin for my taste. I do not being so overweight as I am now but I also do not want to be rail thin. I am hoping that the surgery doesn't take me to that place. How about you. How did you decide on your goal weight? Was it your idea, your doctors?
  5. I like this post, but I will say that a concern of mine is losing too much weight. I want to really be not much less than 150. I like my body at that size. It would not be the end of the world, I suppose, if I lost 20 more pounds than that but that would be pushing it. I do not have any type of deadline or goal date what so ever, I just want to be at a healthy weight.

    Thank you

I thought I remembered you talking about your insurance before but I thought that was all cleared up. I am so sorry you had to go through that diet for nothing! But as others have said, it may have happened that way for a reason. Hugs!!!

    Thank you

Oh wow I'm so sorry! Is it rescheduled or is this on the insurance end or what? I hate to be nosy but...I'm nosy!
  8. Thanks, and to you as well. I have not had my meds since June and I only have to go two weeks after the surgery without them, just as long as I have healed well. The one that worked the best and fastest for me was Enbrel, and then on week 5 I had a terrible reaction to it. I just saw my rheumie on Friday and she feels the surgery is going to be very beneficial to my hip and knee joints. She took a listen to them and wasn't happy. I stopped taking any IBU probably 3 weeks ago and I have been doing pretty well. I had to be off of my meds for several weeks, probably a month a few months ago and I didn't have any problems until my first week back on them, so who knows. Good luck!
  9. I only had the headaches the first few days, they should pass.
  10. There are some here that use BluePoint. I use them, I use Dr. Halmi, and I really like him. Hopefully people will chime in. There are folks here that used Fair Oaks. I have not had surgery yet, coming up on the 16th. I have however had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy there and I really liked the staff and facility. Make sure you remember how much you owe as you go along with this process because they do not remind you. Other than that, I have no qualms.

Is there anyone here who goes to the gym? I would love to find one to join but I do not want to spend a terrible amount of money. I would also love a gym buddy! Walking and the gym is so much easier with a friend!
  12. I am glad you are doing well, but I do not trust that for a minute. I do take Methotrexate as well as Orencia weekly. As far as I know, years ago, aspirin and steroids were used. I know many aged women who have it as well and that is how they were treated. For me, it is def not worth a try. If nothing else worked, maybe a different story but now I do not see how antibiotics can stop the disease process.

    Headache frim hell

I had it on the second day too. I talked to the dietician about it the other day and she said it is normal and it is the body resetting itself. Having something to do with metabolism....

The flyer says it's for anyone. Pre-op, post-op, and family/friends regardless of where surgery was performed. It's in the conference room at the hospital. Just show up. Thanks! I will see about it when I am there for my surgery but I don't know if I can make that one because I will not be able to drive yet. Does anyone in the area use a local gym that they like and doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I really want to start some kind of fitness routine after surgery.

Is this through INOVA or your drs office? Do you know if you can just show up or if you have to register and what time it is? I don't think I can even drive by then. =(

I am in NOVA. I actually posted in a VA thread here. My surgery is coming up here soon...four days! My kids live in Northern Neck. There is a thread about VA that has some Hampton Roads people, just so you know!
  20. Treats it with antibiotics? I have never heard of that, and to be honest, I think I would be so afraid of that.
  21. I met with my surgeon and nutritionist today and they went over something like a sample day of a meal plan with many options. I grabbed some things at the store this evening. Not a lot, but some. We actually don't keep much food at the house. I should have 60 gr Protein a day and the nutritionist actually counts those ounces as part of my Fluid intake.
  22. I am a week away from my surgery and am looking for some help as far as to what foods you have had and liked in your mushy stage and thereafter. I think this would also be a good place for any other advice for us pre-surgical people! Thank you in advance! =)
  23. I like all of those foods now, but I don't know if I will after surgery. I am very worried about being able to takep ills because I have Epilepsy and Rheumatoid Arthritis amongst other things that I absolutely have to take pills for.
  24. Thanks for posting. I read through yourlink but I do have to ask about the berry smoothie. It sounds really good butseems like a lot of sugar with the banana, berries, and juice. Do you have any idea how many sugars it is? I think they told me I should have no more that 6g of sugar per meal.
