    Hi all,
I've been quiet these past 15 days from bypass, concentrating on healing and getting required Protein and Water has become my new full time job!
I still have my JP Drain in but hoping it will be removed this Thursday at my post-op appointment.
I do feel weak on some days and others days I feel fine. I did call NUT and asked to up my B12 from 500 to 1000 per day and that seemed to help a little. Will be interested to see how blood work will look like.
As for diet, still on full liquids until July 4, then purée. My body signals me I'm full with nausea feeling...umm not good signal.
    Stats so far are...
    HW: 288
    SW: 265
    CW: 253
= 27 lbs lost from HW and 12lbs lost since SW on 6/9/14.
Praying for you all and thinking of you daily.
    Kelly
    From Virginia.

Repeating a day or even a week is absolutely the right thing to do, anytime you feel the need. That's the beauty of this program. Proud of all of y'all who give it a go. Since being sleeved, C25K is the best thing I've done. I no longer care about the scale moving, only how far I can run. It's a much more fulfilling focus.

I am finally home from the hospital. I have a drain plug to care for but I'm home. Able to tolerate cottage cheese and yogurt, but not ice cold Water. Weird what is so different in taste and textures. Just taking it one day at a time.

masonjk38 reacted to DeniseNCC1701 in So, what's your hurry?
One of the things I keep reading over and over in posts is "how much did you loose in 3 days/weeks/minutes/nanoseconds?" and, of course, "I'm stalled for 3 days/weeks/minutes/nanoseconds please help!"
I'll start by admitting that pre-op, I too looked at others results and did some number crunching in my head. I projected and I planned and I was hopeful. And in that respect, perhaps such posts have a powerful influence, since it can get one to pick up the phone and make that first call.
But once that first step is taken, the journey becomes the individuals, and theirs alone. And no number crunching and projecting is going to change how one's own natural healing process is going to progress.
So, I ask, what's your hurry?
The road to the goal is not linear. We must acknowledge and embrace a process of push and pull, pros and cons, give and take, and ups and downs. And when we are feeling up, for heaven's sake, enjoy it! Cherish those moments. Every. Single. Second. Celebrate. Sing in the shower. Go fishing. Dance naked around the house. Build on that joy, because the effects are cumulative. And it will get you through times when things are not so optimal. Trust the process. Before you know it, you'll be dancing/singing/celebrating once again.
So, I'll ask again, what's your hurry?
I believe in setting goals. I believe in developing a clear vision of a healthy future. But it's in the journey, the process, and the day-to-day choices where the real transformation occurs. And if one is not enjoying every "up" second of that process, and working through every "down" second, they would have gotten to their goal without really knowing how they got there.
So, in conclusion I ask, what's your hurry?

    Hey Junies,
Saw my surgeon today for pre-op appointment. They finally have me what goal weight to shoot for which 161lbs (HW 288, CW 268). They told me this is 80% of my excess body weight and that is the only guarantee of what the BP is able to accomplish, although some folks are able to loose 100%.
They used some kind of complicated formula to figure thus out. They said the others charts will say 134 would be the ideal weight for a 5'5" 50 year old female. I thinking I will look for a size 10 and whatever pounds that ends up being I will be satisfied as long as I am healthy and off all meds!!!

Did the doc give any meds to deal with the nausea? I'll be praying that this will pass. You're not a failure as you cannot control how your body /stomach is reacting to food. You probably have already done this but just in case maybe you can search the boards to see how others have dealt with nausea. Try not to get dehydrated and if you feel you are you should maybe call your doc and see if you need to get fluids in another way.

    Hey Junies,
Had my pre-op at the hospital today for surgery next Monday. I'm scheduled for 10:30 am. Officially began my 7-day liquid diet this morning, but had prepared myself last week by drinking liquids all day and only having dinner with no carbs. I am sooo glad I did this as I feel I am able to tolerate it better and didn't shock my body all of a sudden. No headache or hunger pains!!!
Thursday morning I have my pre-op with the surgeon. I feel really good about my decision and less nervous after listening to today's pre-op at the hospital. They seem to really have all this down and have a great team of doctors and nurses!
I have really enjoyed reading all your post and appreciate all your feedback to my questions.
Hope all surgeries today went very well!!
    Take care everyone!!

Had my last supper meal tonight...steak and lobster! My RNY is on June 9th (tentatively schedule as I wait for final approval BCBC FEP) and will start my modified (self imposed) liquid diet tomorrow (two liquid meals with one light meal) and official pre-op full liquid diet on June 1st.
Feeling excited and fearful simultaneously. I'm fearful of possible complications and excited that I have an opportunity to save my life!
Praying a lot; however, I know that this is God's will and that He has led me down this path.

My psychologist said this is called the "last supper" syndrome and is perfectly normal, expected, and experienced by many of her patients.
I waiting for BCBS approval but tentatively scheduled for bypass on June 9th. Haven't started liquid diet yet, but the psych said to enjoy my "last supper" before liquids, and believe me I willI!!!
For I look at my surgery as finally having a divorce from my love affair with certain foods that I have allowed to control me!
    Take care.
