Should I just self-pay?
I agree. Why put out money you don't have to. My process has been 9 months so 3 is nothing. But I learned and prepped over this time do it has been valuable.

United Healthcare Choice Plus - Railroad
Can't help you with your specific instance but you should be able to contact them and get information. I was able to get a written copy of the exact requirements from mine.

Baraitric Surgery and Insurance
Posted too soon. My whole process would have taken 7 months but was delayed because I needed an unrelated surgery. I would suggest contacting your insurance company directly and get requirements from them. Insurance requirements typically dictate the time frame and what you have to go. So any answers you get here will vary significantly.

My surgery is the 25th
Well looks like I might have to cancel Friday's surgery. I have developed a terrible chest cold that is getting worse each day. No fever but I have a horrible cough and rattle in my chest..probably bronchitis. I am beyond disappointed I am going to call the office today and see if I should definitely reschedule. I am just hoping it isn't too long. Luckily I only have a one day liquid diet but I self detoxed from caffiene and sugar....and of course the emotions are really pushing the cravings. Really bummed.

Will insurance pay for protein drinks?
Make sure you compare the old one which was appropriate to the one that is now blended. From what I have ready some NUTS are still recommending it but do not know that it changed,

Will insurance pay for protein drinks?
It's an absorption issue. You don't absorb the blended recipe in premier. It must be whey protein isolate to get absorbed. Drinking it isn't going to hurt you but it doesn't provide the protein you need. Over time the lack of protein will cause problems.

Finally got a date!
Congrats. It is exciting.

Will insurance pay for protein drinks?
It must be whey protein isolate. There are numerous brands. I am ore- op but having been researching for months and came across the information on the change recently. Premier changed its formula in the Fall to a blend....it is useless for Bariatric patients. There are numerous brands out there. I have stocked up on samples from several different companies because I don't know what u will like post op. Unjury seems to be a popular one.

Will insurance pay for protein drinks?
I know their was basically an insurance scam that was charging thousands of dollars to your insurance. I would contact your insurance company directly. And I think Premier a Protein changed their ingredients making them no longer the right protein for us anyway.

Tallgirl you sound like me.....except instead of a period I have bad chest now. I was really hoping it wasn't but it has put me down today. I am very nervous that I won't be well enough for surgery Friday. It's kicking my asthma off as well. But Tallgirl..I am excited for you. I too look forward to the loss of hunger and hopefully being turned off by sweets. For the non poopers ( sorry) if you are still taking opiate pain killers that will make it difficult for your system to get moving as well.

Telling people you've decided on WLS...
I too was initially planning to tell just a few. But as I got closer it didn't sit well me. So one week away from surgery I posted on it Facebook. Support has been great. I really think a lot of reactions will depend on how you feel about it yourself. What I posted: "This is my formal announcement to the world that Friday I am getting gastric bypass surgery. Yes, I have heard all the stories about the Aunt Sally's that had terrible outcomes and the friend of the cousins hairdresser that gained all their weight back. I may act looney, and have little couth most of the time but I am far from an idiot. I began this process in May after my hip deteriorated for the second time. I have done lots of research and have prepared well. I did not make this decision without alot of thought. After losing 130 pounds and gaining 80 of it back over the last 5 years I refuse to languish any longer. I look forward to using the tool ( not magic fixit) that is weight loss surgery. I have a great surgeon...shout out to Hope Bariatrics. I considered keeping this to just a few individuals that I have already told. However I realized I need to do my part to stand up against the shame that is cast upon those who fight the battle of obesity and even more shame that is layed at the feet of those who use a medical intervention to address a potentially deadly medical issue. It's not " the easy way out"... It will require commitment and ongoing change. I do not have a moral problem or character flaw. Keeping quiet only gives power to the shame and is so against who I am otherwise! So here it is for all too see, talk about, gossip about...or offer support. To all my Weight a Watchers buddies...I am not going anywhere. I will still be using what WW has taught me but tweaked a bit to fit me now. Hope to see ya on the biking trails. " As I said the support has been great. If anybody is against it they haven't said...but I think being self assured in my decisionwould drown them out anyway.

Paranoid Personality Disorder
I would think it would depend on how stable you are and compliant with MH treatment recommendations.

Constipation
There are two kinds I know of. One is called Dieters Tea and one Detox tea made by Yogi. You can usually find them in larger grocery stores. Dh just had hernia surgery and also suffered from constipation. The teas are his go to thing. But they didn't work this time.

Constipation
As I mentioned in another post this really concerns me since I had such a bad time with constipation after hip replacement surgery in December. My worst day in the first two weeks was due to constipation ..nit the major slashing my body had gone through. I like the mineral oil idea..my grandfather use to take it once a week..and whew..we all had to leave the house. I am just wondering Carolk36 if you had any bad reactions to it.
