Someone noticed my weight loss at work and i felt humiliated
Congrats on your loss. I have always said I need to embrace the obese me. Despite the struggles it is the obese me that has taken action to improve myself. I am just as worthy whether I way 320 or 120.

Spouse not on board with WLS
Exactly the same with me. It really depends on your relationship, your ability to communicate honestly and his willingness to listen and understand. My husband, like most men likes to fix things. Not being able to help "fix" me is a blow to him so he had to adjust. Also I have to realize this will impact him too..in several ways and be considerate of that. But bottom line it is my body and health. I know ultimately he will be pleased.

Numbness?
I had major hip surgery 2 years ago and it is still numb. Bigger the cut, more numbness.

Hello 3 months post op sleeve here!
Congrats. Your story is somewhat similar to mine. I was 320 and joined WW. I learned to love working out. I was 50 and running 5 mikes, biking 50 plus, lifting weights etc. I got down to 185 where I stalled. then I had a major hip injury and surgery. Working out was not an option. Slowly I gained 50 pounds back and it has been a yo yo ( with more yo than yo) for 2 years. I recently reinjured my hip simply due to the weight gain. I am now up to 280 and it's feels worse than the 330 ever did! That was the last straw. I am in the early stages...not even had first appointment. But I know how good if can be..and I am determined to get back there.

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
So many folks (including nurses) knowledge about Bariatric options is anecdotal. Do your research and write down your concerns for your surgeon. And it is important to remember any surgery has its risks.

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
I go for my very first appt next week. I can't wait to get the ball rolling.

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
I am waaaay behind you but I feel your excitement. I agree it's hard for many to understand but that is human nature I believe. The whole " I did it so why can't you. " attitude is seen in many avenues of life. I know I am guilty of it in other aspects.

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
I finally broke down and called insurance for clarification. The answers were all good. Seems the three month versus 6 month program Aetna had is based on patient and doctor consensus. Of course I like the 3 month but the 6 gives me a chance to increase funds in my medical reimbursement account. I also told a few people I was exploring wls..support from all.

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
I am nearly the same. I have an orientation appt with the bariactric office on the 12th. I need to call my insurance for more clarification but if approved it could take 6 months.

Has anyone NOT lost any hair? Please reassure me.
Between menopause and having hypothyroid disease ( that went undiagnosed for at least two years) I went from super thick hair to very thin. I am getting it cut very short this summer..that way if I lose more once I have surgery it won't be as noticable.

YEAH! SURGERY WAS YESTERDAY!
Glad everything went so well.

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
She seems quite narcissistic or immature..or both. Frankly, unrelated to weight loss surgery beliefs , not someone I would want to be around.

PLEASE! Dear God, Can I get some coffee?
To show that I am " sicker" than the average bear...the coffee thing is one of of my top two concerns. Take most of my stomach, take away donuts, lose some hair, and never hit a sushi Buffet again....can deal with. Take my coffee and I have to think long and hard about this.

New to forum, considering the sleeve
That describes how I am feeling. I made my first appt for a consult for June 12th. Initially I was very uncertain. I previously lost 130 pounds but have gained almost 80 back. As I have read more and more I have gotten more comfortable and feel hopeful. OP ...Hang in there..I am right behind you.

Almost one year out (with pics)
Thanks for posting. I am very new in this process as I have my very first appt scheduled next month. Each day I am a bit more sure this is right for me. Your story helps me to be a bit more comfortable.

Im gonna lose my stomach?????
This is the one aspect of it all that overwhelms me a bit. But then I offset it with the thought that I do want permanent changes.
